Two delicious Polish salads “Herring under a blanket”and a classic vegetable

Welcome to the next episode of Canadian Tata’s adventures in a Polish village :) This one has it all:
Drama - where is jajo?
Comedy - a sweaty mouse giving birth

... and of course some mouth watering footage of two super easy yet delicious Polish salads.
The herring one is my absolute favourite among Polish salads - I could eat half of it in one sitting, especially for breakfast! It’s super easy to make: you take 2-3 fillets of herring (rinsed), dice it and layer it on a plate with 1 small finely chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper and grate 3-4 peeled and boiled potatoes (2nd layer). Next go the carrots (same idea: boil, peel, grate) and a layer of mayo. Cover it with the layer of 2-3 eggs (diced or grated, if you’re lazy) and voila, here is your layered herring salad (warstwowa sałatka śledziowa) also known as herring under a blanket.
The vegetable one is a classic, it always differs a little bit from household to household depending on what vegetables you have in a fridge and in cans, but it’s omnipresent. You chop what you have (carrots, potatoes, leeks, peppers, parsley root and leaves, dill pickles, eggs, corn, peas, kidney beans etc), add mayo (Winiary is indeed a mayo king), salt and pepper and there it is: SAŁATKA WARZYWNA! Don't overthink this one, just use what you have and it will be great!
