Recently bought your flytying for beginners. Cracking little book, well illustrated and easy to follow instructions. Once i get some materials i will try making one of your easier flies.

That is a Alsome looking fly, it looks like a falcon in a dive catching a rabbit. I got to tie some of those. The first one of those is going on my cap. I've got to show it off. I finally go your new book. They sit on it six days before they shipped it. But, it was worth the wait. I love it !!!.. GREAT BOOK, Berry!!!... If somebody cannot understand these step by step instructions they have problem. Thanks a million Berry!!!...

That is a very handsome fly. I have a question about the plastic tube technique though. Is the effect on the position of the hackle permanent? That is, does it have any affect on how the fly looks to the fish or is it mostly to make it look good to fellow fly tyers? Nothing wrong with the latter of course but I'm wondering if the last step is really necessary for us casual tyers. I would think that if your stripped fly in the water the hackle would lay back anyway. Thanks for all your excellent videos. I've learned a lot from watching them.
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ripig, Thanks. Yes it's permanent. It just puts the hackle in place as it should be fished, rather like giving it a perm. And as you say, it also looks a whole lot better, IMHO.

Nice one Barry! Think it more resembles a small minnow than a nymph and would tie it in several lengths to imitate the local forage. Will tie up a couple this morning, might use a longer and softer collar. Cheers!

Thanks Hank, good luck with it.

That tube method is great! I have a pile of it from my aquarium Air pumps, I will give it a try! Thanks Barry! I looked it up, wondering why it would be classified as a nymph, but there is no historical link to nymph patterns, rather the advice for fishing the pattern says it is a streamer in my books.
@Thefeatherbender4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kerry, yeah the tube works for many patterns and techniques.
