Nice one! 👍👍 I like the knot in the leg tip. I’ll be using that. I tie a similar yellow one, called the Llano bug here in central Texas. It’s definitely a fish catcher. 🎣 Thanks Mak! Have a great weekend..Best wishes!

You know this is a great one when you just glance past the thumbnail and then 5 seconds later you ask yourself "was that a beetle I saw?" Then come back and realise it was fishing fly.. Damn. Truly makes you think when even you're fooled by it. :)

Just an update: After fishing over ultra-fussy trout this summer, these things were exactly what they were looking for. I'll be tying up a bunch this off-season. Thanks again Mak.

Cracking fly deadly 👌👌 Try using natural peacock herl ( I wrap 3) in stead of dubbing been an absolute killer fly for me as you get the bronze and green colours from the peacock when its wet 👍👍👍 Tight lines Mak Isaac
@Makflies4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Isaac, I am glad you like it, I have been tying it with Peacock Herl ,, Ostrich Herl, and they are very effective, some how with this Sparkle Dubbing I have been catching lot's. may be it's bright reflection in Water Trigger them Regards Mak :))

Instead, I believe this dubbing is going to work better as the peacock herls tend to loose their glittering effect after being in water. Nice pattern anyway, real catchy here on the northern Italy mountain streams

a bit of glue on the underside of the foam before you pull it over the back of the fly can help it last longer

I have a suggestion. The white spotter on the back is the wrong color. There is often foam on the water and reflections that look white. You can't see that spot among them. I like another color that sticks out more. Anything will do, or even some antron as an alternative, but some non-white color.

Hi, I like the look of this fly. Could this be tied to imitate the New Zealand Black field cricket (Scientific name: Teleogryllus commodus)? If you could tie it the same way, what materials and hooks would you advise? Cheers....
@Makflies4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Piere, the Material for Teleogryllus commodus is probably just a Black Foam, it looks like quit big Cricket, I would suggest size 8 2X or may be 3X Long Shank Hook, Body Black Foam ,, Legs Dyed Black Pheasant Tail Knotted, you could probably use Synthetic Sparkle Dubbing inside the Body ( Like it did on the Chernobyl Ant ) Regards,, Mak
@patrickcanty41664 жыл бұрын
Mak, thanks so much for your videos. They are so very helpful and so well done. What type of sparkle dubbing are you using? Is it the same as ice dubbing? And what is the name of the legging material? I really like both and would like to be able to know what to look for when purchasing. Thanks again and every good wish.
@Makflies4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Patrick, I am glad you like it , you can buy Sparkle Dubbing in Variety of Colours, but Ice Dubbing also good, As for the Legs I use Spanflex/Flexifloss, for Hook I use Kamasan B170 Regards,, Mak :))
