Isn't that remarkable. Absolute mastery of the art, and command of the materials. A McPhail video provides so much more than any book can offer.

I watch many Tiers but non more mesmerizing to watch than yourself. Thanks for sharing and I had no problem in setting up a monthly donation, as these videos are my television of choice.

Davie... Always amazing to watch you tie. A beautiful pattern. As a member of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, I haven't been able to ''wet a line'' during the covid situation. National office should release us to continue with our meetings and outings soon, I hope. This is one fly that I will absolutely be starting with. Hope that you and yours are safe and healthy. Blessings and ''Tight Lines'', my friend.

Perfect timing Davie, I was tying a few of these last night. This is definitely one of those flies that fits 'the scruffier the better' category! It's nice to be out on the river again. With the restrictions last year I didnt fish much, but it's been nice to get out and see our fine waterways again.

Another excellent fly with all the right triggers of prey item, shape, translucency and movement, or in other words, very buggy. For the record, the text on the Strong & Stretch bobbin is Japanese, not Chinese. The central text 水晶の線 (suishou-no-sen) means crystal wire/line. The English text below should therefore be Crystal Line not Crystaline which means something else - crystalline. I could have made a fortune in Japan correcting English. The bottom text is katakana script used for foreign words ポリウレタン (poriuretan) or polyurethane.

Hi Peter, I do get out for a couple of hours or so every two or three nights as the river is only minutes away walking and driving so I'm very lucky that way. When I used to tye orders I struggled to fish at all and when I worked on the river and the lochs I struggled to tye so it goes both ways...I'm glad you enjoy the videos and the way I tye.. All the very best Davie..

Davie..... Very Nice tye, as usual. I always look forward to your next pattern. Question : Are the horns exposed when the caddis is "emerging" ?
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Sorry about the delay in getting back to you . They are not but I find many caddis pupa that have got stuck and drowned with the horns on them and these do get hoovered up by trout so it is worth adding them and as well they add an attraction to the nymph and I'm sure to the fish..I'm glad you liked the fly... All the very best Davie..

Thanks for sharing Davey, but your viewers should know that using a wire as you direct to, doesn't properly clean varnish residue off the eye. A piece of feather does a far better job than wire. You've been tying all these years and still use wire, stubborn as a mule?
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anablak P, I have to agree with you 100% that a feather will do a better job than the wire, I'll try my best to keep a good feather on the desk to clean the eye then at least I wouldn't use up my good wire cleaning the eye with it..Old habits and tying too many flies over the years have gave me many good methods as well as many bad habits for speed and getting flies finished..I am hoping to slow down and tye more for myself and for the channel and clean up the methods I hope to pass on... All the very best Davie
