I remember i had to share an apartment with 11 people, we shared the food in the fridge, we loved america and asked for nothing for free.I came here in 2007 i remember you could go to any hospital and be checked out no problem and now i go to a hospital and they wont see me without insurance and i see newly migrants coming in and getting all benefits while i pay my taxes and they never do. I don’t know the situation but basically a lot of states have health insurance for free or very cheap. Normally if you try to get insurance directly yourself it is very expensive. Depending on how healthy you can you might not even need it just paid for services when you need it. Insurance companies can basically only price by age and location so if you believe you are healthier than the average person you can try skipping out and save the money. Just make sure you budget around emergencies. There is whole other rabbit hole about getting cheap medical bills and such.
