Tyler, you are totally correct about crankbaits relating to bass fishing. Unfortunately, all fishing is not bass fishing. We dredged up many walleyes(I know, "What's a Walleye?") on deep diver crankbaits. My favorite were called a "Smoo". Walleyes are often suspended in 50+ feet of water. If your diver can get 30 feet down, well, you're right in there.

Tyler, I mentioned a few videos ago that you answer all the questions and I would use your videos to show my students how to give a presentation. As I was getting ready to ask if it’s smart to take crankbaits bank fishing (considering snags and lost lures percentages are most likely increased) you answered it. Ha! Furthermore, I should’ve started with the overview of the discussion in your video description to realize it was going to get answered. Another excellent video covering all aspects of the topic from all angles. Thank you.

Great stuff as always Tyler. I mainly pond fish, and have been killing them this year on squarebills. I am running them on 10-12 lb. floro leader, and have to pause my retrieve often similar to fishing wood to prevent snags. I’m confident the reason I am catching so many is no one else is throwing them. A good crankbait rod also helps.

I’m learning that bank fishing is very different than fishing from a boat. From the bank, I’m pulling the bait from deeper to shallow water. Since I’m new to fishing, I purchased a couple of crank baits (2-4 feet) to start with. Is my thinking correct on this? I’m also fishing on a river (Chattahoochee) and depending where I am on the river, the river speed plays into potential lures hanging on me.

Does bouncing a crankbait bait off the rocks or vegetation go the same for a lipless crankbait? Usually for me I try to fish those next to the vegetation and just above the rocks because of constant snags. Really enjoy your videos.

I have had huge success with open water cranking not making contact when targeting smallmouth that are feeding up 3-5 feet off the floor. Not soo much with the largemouth.
@TylersReelFishing4 жыл бұрын
That’s the general consensus. It’s a smallie thing
@andrewvolcom114 жыл бұрын
@@TylersReelFishing yeah for sure just the other day I was intentionally targeting smallies 5ish feet off the bottom in 12-15ft water and the wouldn't touch anything but a crankbait that wasn't making contact. I could wind it at about 5-7feet and they would munch it feeding up. But but anything below them on the floor and zero bites. Smallies are an interesting species for sure definitely dobt play by what we are taught especially when it comes to cranking
