The thing I noticed while watching this video is the spikes...They look like they are also created to prevent blades from sliding whilst you block it, because blades tend to slide around shields when it’s a smooth surface but the spikes prevent the blade from moving around.
@NuclearSpyn3 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what it's meant for, you really don't want a blade slipping off the shield and into your meaty bits so you put things on the shield (in this case the spikes) to trap the blade once it hits the shield.
@Metaljunky903 жыл бұрын
I've seen blue prints and drawings of similar "shields" that where made to trap and break blades.

Even if the spikes are used offensively, they're being slammed into meaty flesh, not cinder block, so the damage should be minimal if any.

That "spike" was a glass breaker, and those spikes on the shield are meant to stop either swords or big knifes like machetes as they get stuck when they hit them.
@Lakita28803 жыл бұрын
They aren't meant to catch it really, mainly just stop it sliding up the shield
@NuclearSpyn3 жыл бұрын
This kind of made me crazy when he was using the shield to grind the cinder block, those spikes are meant for stopping or slowing the movement of a blade along the shield so the attacker has a much harder time riding their blade up or down the shield to bypass it. That spike on the tip of the shield is definitely meant to be a glass breaker, but can also work as a handy jawbreaker considering if you're employing the use of a shield like this, it's likely for personal defense.

I think in a scenario where you're shielding an attack from the Warhammer it would realistically slide off since your arm would angle to let it slide off when it gets hit
@AlcerusOfficial2 жыл бұрын
This kind of shield is for parrying, not blocking. So yeah, it's definitely not for tanking hits. You would probably be moving in towards the opponent and using it to safely push the enemy's weapon aside as it comes towards you!

You know, I actually think that the penetration from the war hammer spike was so shallow that you’d be fine if that was the only injury you had to take. I mean I’ve stepped on thick nails that were much meaner than that hole.
@iamcool5443 жыл бұрын
The front spikes are to catch a blade and stop it from sliding along the shield. It is not meant to be used offensively. Also if your punching divots into a cinderblock you have killed someone.

@pengu49323 жыл бұрын
So, I gotta say this is one of the ones where ur lack of "scientific approach" hurts. Cause with the sword, axe etc if u had the shield secured to something, like an arm, the kinetic energy wouldn't be causing it to bounce off it would be literally breaking the persons arm and or actually making meaningful damage. You're losing alot of energy due to how u just have it propped up on a cinderblock and not like clamped or secured. For example if u had it attached to idk a 2 x 4 driven into the ground. You'd most likely snap the 2x4
@TheBtrain993 жыл бұрын
Agreed. As well, with the arrow test, the likelihood of penetration was increased by having a stationary target, and by the bend in the shield, an almost straight on shot. Most likely if someone was using this as protection against crossbows they wouldn't be pulling a wonder woman. More probable you'd be firing at a moving target, and if trying to hit an arm, an angled target. Would probably still go through, but much less likely. Otherwise, appreciate testing the crap from Wish that I'll never buy 🤣
@paulthetexan3 жыл бұрын
@@TheBtrain99 Counterpoint: Anyone wielding a crossbow against someone with one of these will not be aiming for the arm. And it'd be a lot harder to actually hit the shield than the rest of the person's body.
@gamer7imemcgames2503 жыл бұрын
50 Shield was clamped down that would also be an inaccurate representation of a human arm as the human body naturally has some give in reality if you were to hit a shield someone was holding you would be more likely to move their arm a bit than straight up break or bruise it, but I agree he should of strapped it to something a bit sturdier but it should still have a bit of give.
@gamer7imemcgames2503 жыл бұрын
In fact the cinderblock has barely any give which is probably making it easier to damage the shield, like how in chainmail tests when they put the armor onto a solid piece of wood with no give you can cut right through it, but as soon you put it on something like a heavy bag with give it becomes borderline impossible
@TheBtrain993 жыл бұрын
@@paulthetexan I can agree which is why I said if trying to hit an arm. If you're trying to land a shot on the arm... idk why you would, but the best chance of that shot is if the target is still.
