Oh yeah, for sure. My first reaction is seeing the detail in flight sims, especially DCS. But I also work in VR so that I can have all kinds of stuff around me including spreadsheets. Zero eye strain is a huge benefit. As for Prime, that's a neat trick to essentially "pre-authorize" you for leasing or a loan to afford the equipment. Sell it to you at cost and amortize the profit.
@markkovalcson72436 күн бұрын
What we really want is 35ppd and wide FOV, but that's the VR1 and a 5090 will have it's hands full driving it well. Larger displays make it easier to make optics that give us wider FOV and are less expensive than designing and building optics for smaller displays to give us that FOV, so the Supers can be less expensive. Unfortunately as we found with the 55ppd XR-4 running at 35ppd, a native 35ppd headset will look sharper than a higher resolution headsets downrezzing. So until the 6090's get here the Supers may not look sharper than the Crystal does. They will have more FOV, brightness and better local dimming which will give them an edge. Also if the XR-4 ran great without Anti aliasing at 55ppd that would support their claims that we have enough power for them now. So far I haven't seen where that is the case with the XR-4. Has anyone heard differently? So we don't need the resolution, but it comes for the ride with the larger sensor. We just won't be able to really take advantage of until the 6090 gets here.

They also never keep their promises from older models like the crystal. They just move onto another headset and never keep their promises. Especially when driving or otherwise have my hands full. The glasses are simply too convenient, EXCEPT for reading texts, then no need for the watch. Message readback interrupts conversations. Would rarely need to dig my phone out of my pocket again when the Glasses become the interface peripheral for 90% of use cases. Weight is one of the biggest issues. What's the weight of this thing? At a time when headsets are becoming much lighter and more comfortable, especially micro-OLED headsets, Pimax are still stuck in the era of big bulky bricks on your head. The specs are great, but this will likely be the heaviest headset on the market compared to all other recent consumer headsets. Weight should be a top priority imo, and while they are clearly concerned with bringing the size and weight down, it's clearly not that high on the priority list for them. The era of heavy bulky headsets is fast coming to an end, and Pimax need to move more quickly. They specs are great, but I don't think I could honestly spend any more time in VR with a headset that weighs probably around 900g, when I can have a 4k x 4k per eye micro-OLED headset that weights 200g and floats off of my face in perfect comfort. I thought so too at first, it is really confusing the way they present it, but the discount is if you pay up front. The catch is the prime part is a subscription an apparently, non-refundable if you return the headset after 10 days. So if I understand that correctly, pay the $696 up front and decide you can't deal with their BS any more they only need to refund the $999 if it's beyond the 10 day period. Not sure if they'll let you cancel the subscription if you return with the monthly plan. Really shady stuff. I really hope I'm misunderstanding this as the headset looks promising.

@@blackduckrun the subscription is for 2 years, after 2 years you still have to pay 12 a month lol. otherwise these headsets would work in offline mode, which is not the case.

@@SINfromPL No, I don't think there are any payments after the two years. I interpreted much of what was reported, which I thought I clarified here in a couple of comments, but those comments seem to have been deleted so, yeah, see ya around Tyriel.

@@blackduckrun pimax didnt say you can use it after 2 years without any extra costs forever, nor they said it doesnt have to be always online. pimax is just chinesium, represented by two white sellouts.
