Hi Jasper! I really appreciate this U2 ranking video- I don’t have the exact same ranking but surprisingly similar. The lowest on the list, Songs of Surrender, I am in almost total agreement. And I wish I had a positive feeling about that album- I even tried to force myself to like it more. Achtung is still the GOAT!!!!!!!!!

Nice list! I like that you have POP in your top 5 as well. Horribly underrated record.

Your description of Brentwood Tennessee is spot on. Had a good laugh on that one

Nice list! I’m a little bit surprised that you had Unforgettable Fire as your second favorite, but I can dig it!

It’s tough to rank them but if I had to pick the four most powerful in no particular order it would be…Joshua Tree, War, POP, Achtung Baby. What is the most ambitious, stuffed with great lyrics, guitar and melodies? POP beats all of their other records. It is just a massive album with a vast sound scape stuffed with great melodies, guitar hooks etc etc.

I think you're ranking of JT, AB and Zooropa are WAY too low. Your ranking of October is WAY too high. I think there's a general consensus that Pop is a very underrated album (I also think Rattle and Hum is underrated too) and it's ashame that the band has shelved that era as well as Rattle and Hum due to their backlashings respectively. I can't argue with you on the album Boy. It is a genius of a debut album. Personally though I wouldn't rank it that high, I'm more of a Unforgettable Fire through Zooropa snob fan. I also think you ranked ATYCLB WAY too low as well. To me that album is top 3 in their catalog. I do agree that production wise or more or less sound wise it's a little flat, but lyrically and musically genius. Couple of songs you mention especially the song I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, that and If God Will Send His Angels, both single versions are "jugular". Me personally nothing compares to JT though. I get how some of those songs have been played over and over again and you could go the rest of your life not listening to some of them ever again, I can go the rest of my life not listening to Pride and I'd be happy but Where The Streets Have No Name is and will always be my favorite song ever! I can easily listen to that song over and over again as well as every other song on that album ( yes including Trip Through Your Wires) and never get tired of them. EVER. What I find amazing and I wish you touched on it, was all the B-sides and Singles that was released with Achtung Baby are just as good as the songs on the album themselves. I think that matter alone shows how solid that album really was and artistically I would put that album as their #1 album in their catalog, personally though nothing tops Joshua Tree though.

Awesome comment!!! Thanks so much! I have to admit that I’m a little bit surprised that you would put AYCLB in the top three. I don’t think that it’s a bad album, I just think that it lacks the identity that their classic albums possess. Also, I think if you listen to their catalog in chronological order, it’s so much more safe and less interesting than POP, Zooropa, and Achtung Baby.

Huge U2 fan here. Seen them live over 20 times. Top 3 for me are 1) AB 2) JT 3) Pop. Point of reference, Im 45 so grew up with them. Saw them at the Sphere last year. They played AB in full and 3 songs from R&H (All I Want is You, When Love Comes to Town, and Desire). Perfect setlist. For me.
