Features of my belt grinder including tracking wheel angle adjustment, stop/fence adjustment, tool arm sockets, bevel angle adjustment.
This design requires a motor with face and foot mounting, bevel adjustment is provided by rotating the grinder frame on the motor, to keep the video brief I only tightened one bolt but all 4 are tightened during operation. I have only tested the grinder with an 8"/200mm drive wheel but a 4" drive wheel fits, though the belt gets close to some mounting bolts depending on rotation.
The depth guide/stop/fence (in this video it is made from MDF as I didn't have any angle iron handy) is adjustable for fine depth and angle to suit different bevel angles and drive and idler wheel sizes.
Grinder height needs to be adjusted to suit bevel angle, wheel sizes and profile block by shimming between the motor foot mount and work surface, it is necessary to mount the motor on 3 corners and relieve the bottom shims to achieve a full bevel on the tip of the blade, very wide or heavily curved blades need more attention, mounting the foot on a vertical surface would be worth investigating for some profiles.
Tracking wheel angle is adjustable
Two tool post designs are shown, one to support 3 1.5" tool arms and a simple one cut from plate steel, a method to add a workrest to this design is shown.
