Hello, I can understand $18 an hour minimum wage, had Uber supplied THE CAR (their car to driver), gas, maintenance, insurance & etc, etc. This shows Uber, Lyft, Door Dash don't care about car or driver work time. Uber, Lyft, Door Dash should & must pay drivers for their time separately, & pay separate dollar amount for miles/Km driven. E.g. minimum $1.70 per mile ( 1 Euro per Km) & for the drivers time, $ 0.55 cents per minute (0.55 cents Euros per minute). And should run like old taxy cab meter or stop watch on the app of driver & rider. Drivers don't need BS surge, if this old system comes back. If Uber/Lyft/Door Dash don't comes with this, someone should start a new app ASAP & publish it on Apple's app store & Google's play store, that's the only way destroy these scum of the earth companies. And by the way, Uber/Lyft/Door Dash's cut should not be between 20% to 80% of what the customer (or rider) pays, their cut should be maximum 1%. Drivers, Door Dash, Uber, Lyft or any Gig app should stop talking about paying/getting hourly pay; unless the vehicle is provided by a Gig app & gas/petrol, maintenance, insurance, etc etc is paid by Uber, Door Dash, Lyft, Roadie etc etc only. So stop bringing the hourly wage to conversation when the vehicle is by an independent contractor. The vehicle should be compensated seperately & the driver should be compensated seperately. Gig apps should pay the independent contractor (the driver) $1.70 per mile for the vehicle (or 1 Euro per Km) & at least $0.55 cents (Euros) PER MINUTE for driver's effort. And those rates should run like a stopwatch on the phones on every second & miles driven, separately like a old taxy cab meter. Obviously for drivers of New York, California, Boston the rates I suggested should be higher. E.g. per mile $1.90 & per minute $0.80 at least in this inflation, because it's not 2016 now everywhere else other than for Gig workers.

@Indikaa well put..they are absolute scum...but like it or not..this one in particular and doordash in food have critical mass. All the money spent thus far has gotten them here. It's no accident the start of the upfront fare /algo/AI/machine learning/profiling coincided with the bottom of the stock which has close to tripled since. It's payback time as far as they see it. Time for the shareholders to maximize their take, drivers/operators be damned. Also he and his executive team are lining their pockets as fast as possible during this golden time. They've spent tons of money on lobbying and Tony West, the Chief Legal Officer is Kamala Harris' brother in law... not a coincidence. They have friends in high places that should all be ashamed of themselves. Collectively they all allow this to go on. Like u said they should never ever allow a company like this to take any more than a few percent max on such a high volume product. They are just a tech app. Yet they are grabbing 30, 40, upwards of 60 to 70% of the fare or food delivery fee. On top of it all, on the food side they have all these fees and yet for that food to get delivered they have the audacity to keep all the fees and dump the onus to pay the driver on the 'customer tip', without which very few drivers would take the job at all. It's a house of cards that survives on the their ability to deflect any potential legislative attempt to come at them and the endless supply of desperate drivers looking to pay their rent or next drug fix (why they offer same day cash out (for a fee of course) so they can cash out after making 30 or 40 bucks) or illegals who are piggy backing off of their cousins ID and happy to make 10 bucks an hour. It all results in less than min wage when accounting for car costs, dangerous conditions for both riders and the good drivers and a business that's unsustainable at best in the long run. But by then this fraud and his buddies will be sipping boat drinks on the island of their choice.

This does little more than to prove how out of touch this man is. 1 Uber has no fleet, they have a throng of “independent contractors” who use their personal vehicles to complete rides. 2 Uber does not pay enough to facilitate the purchase of an EV even with the $2,000 insensitive to do so. 3 to think that I can possibly complete a 10 - 12 hour shift on a single charge is hubris or plain ignorance. The average EV has a range of under 300 miles. My 2023 Elantra Hybrid will go 500 before I need fuel and I fill 3x a week. Not to mention I fuel my vehicle in about 5 minutes, in an EV I would be spending a minimum of 30 minutes at a supercharger not earning a dime. Uber has cut driver pay and increased rains to passengers. Perhaps if they paid us slightly more after the pandemic instead of less some of us would make the switch to EV.

This clown will be long gone when the Uber downfall inevitably comes. He's the definition of the CEO aiming for short term earnings reports which have shown great progress right about when they went to the upfront pricing model to drivers and food delivery workers, powered by AI, machine learning, and their army of new (many illegal immigrants using relatives id's) drivers. They sliced driver pay in probably half, whilst taking upwards of 60 to 70% of the ever increasing fare paid by the passenger/food customer. On top of that, they dump the onus for the lil extra tip that the customer has to pay especially in the case of food delivery on that said customer...otherwise the food doesn't move... all those fees the customer thinks may go to the driver goes to his pockets. Shareholders yes and also him and his C-suite who make more than 200m per year collectively. It's insanity how they haven't been deemed illegal by Any govt entity yet here we are. Tony West the chief legal officer is Kamala Harris' brother-in-law. Friends in high places, lobbying cash and campaign contributions help with that, while they loot drivers' pockets and the long term viability of Uber. The same Biden admin that goes after credit card fees and charges, bank overdraft charges, has stayed mum on this issue which is 10x more predatory. By the time this fixes itself, maybe due to competition, and maybe where they get regulated to only be able to take a 'fair cut' of the fare (max 10% lets say) since the drivers pay for gas, expenses, and all else, this Clown 🤡 and his clown posse 🤡 🤡 🤡 who has no business being a world leader at Davos will be long gone enjoying their hundreds of millions.

You would think a company that doubled their stock price in less than 12 months would reward the drivers who got them there. The only thing Uber, or Lyft is concerned about are there stockholders and their stock price. By manufacturing income by charging customers more and paying drivers a lot less than what it should be. Remember without us the drivers they don’t have a company. I hope everyone is going to not drive on the global February 14 protest and stay home. We need to expose more of the truth about what these companies are doing to new stations and social media so the public knows what they are doing to us. Everyone of you should somehow someway bring up the subject when you are driving your customer so they know we are getting a maximum of 1/4 of whatever they are spending or less every day I drive customers who have no idea and end up giving me a much bigger tip now that they know.

Dara Khosrowshahi, so tell me how all this makes sense Mr Dara. Your company pays $20 an hour for drivers who provide the car gas and insurance, yet you want us to spend $60,000 on an electric vehicle? Let me submit a hypothetical situation I live in Florida where we regularly get hit by hurricanes. Let's say we're 10 years in the future and everyone is switched over to electric vehicles. A monster hurricane is supposed to hit Florida and everyone and their mother in Florida decides to plug their electric vehicle in. What happens to the power grid? Let's see people aren't able to charge their car all the way so they start driving and the car dies halfway up the state of Florida. I would assume there's be thousands of these instances. So now you have thousands of electric vehicles clogging of the highways and a hurricane is bearing down in the state of Florida. On what planet does that sound like a good idea?

In that way, if a driver earns/makes $2,000 dollars per week, then those scum company makes $20 per pay week. Lets assume driver makes again 2,000 per week for next 3 weeks of the month, that means, the scum companies make $80 dollars from just one driver for a month. That's way more what Netflix ($15.49) charges from one consumer, or what Spotify makes from 1 consumer ($10.99), Apple TV+ charges ($9.99), KZbin Premium $13.99/month, & what Amazon charges for Prime per month ($14.99). Now you see how these scum of the Earth--Uber/Lyft/DD companies are ripping off the drivers...no need more explanation any more. Where's all this money going, these companies are bullshitting telling everyone that they need more money than Amazon, Apple, Google etc & telling us they are losing money,...BS. If a driver earned $100 then these scum companies pocketed minimum $200 with the current system, & they didn't give a damn about how many miles were driven or how much time driver had to work paying about $0.13 cents per minute. This modern day slavery in the richest country in the world has to stop, & pretty sure it's same in other countries where scum-Uber is operating. Someone, please build an opensource app & let's bankrupt these companies ASAP.

Uber drivers are getting screwed! Uber charges riders more money but cut what the drivers earn and because of Ubers high prices people don’t tip especially in this economy today. Something must be done about this. I know of people who have driven for them for years and now have to work 12 hrs just to survive. They don’t take into account people are using their own vehicles and have to cover the costs of maintenance. My friend bought a hybrid car last year to help conform to Uber’s Zero Emissions Goals but no incentives were given at all and has already put over 100,00.00 miles on a car only a year old. Explain how this company is getting away with this?
@1972ardy4 ай бұрын
The stock by then also will have turned from having tripled recently.
