The Uber concept was genius. Sadly The Company only cares about their profits. Employees should never be responsible for all the risk!
@generaleerelativity95242 жыл бұрын
Straight up GREED! You can tell the people who run it got where they are through straight up nepotism. There's absolutely no reason for them to be entitled to over half of the fare when employees are using their own vehicles and fuel. Even if they only took 20%(or less) they would have more workers and still make bank. They ain't nothing but a greedy hack cab company and they deserve everything that's coming to them. I couldn't stand them from the door, so you could imagine my disgust when they started using Trevor Noah in their ads.

i remember watching a documentary on the south Africa taxi unions, taxi drives would get shot and killed if they was operating their taxi outside of their agreed upon route then there was the white only union... these guys put a huge target on their back OR Uber will finally get rid of the taxi unions and the grip they have on south Africa..
@magigooter20962 жыл бұрын
And just about any major city in the US. First time I saw somebody get shot was driving for Uber Eats. Accepted the ticket, saw the part of town the customer lived in, and immediately had a bad feeling. Sure enough, I'm getting off of the highway and going down the service road when I hear shots ring out and look to my left to see a man falling over holding his gut in an alleyway by a game room. Can't tell you how many times I pulled up to an apartment complex and had to maneuver around less-than-savory characters loitering on the apartment steps. Needless to say, I didn't heed the no firearms policy they set for their drivers. Not getting shot dropping off tacos. No sir.

@Dr. Drip I did. I was driving for Uber Eats at the start of the pandemic because I was working in a food distribution warehouse. Restaurants closed. Food orders stopped coming in and you know what came next. So, I did it just until I got back to work in machining. Thanks for your input though!

Uber does their best to manipulate and gamify drivers into making poor financial decisions. In fact, we don't even know the destination until the passenger gets in the car. Coin toss if we are about to spend an hour driving back into town on our own dime. Uber is like so many woke faux virtue companies. They rush to condemn their drivers, and excuse atrocious behavior of riders. I'm seldom in favor of unionization but this is one industry that begs it. Drivers should not accept any assignment they don't feel comfortable about. Don't service any ares they personally deem dangerous and don't allow Uber to pressure or shame you. Your safety is paramount to you and your family.

The same thing occurred in Puerto Rico with the cash payment option. Carjackers exploited that as an easier way to open accounts, order rides, and then rob the drivers. It took the threat of a bill (to prohibit cash payments) in the Senate for the company to allow drivers to turn off that option, which is the preference the carjackers.

The ride share and delivery apps try to hook new drivers with incentives. People take these jobs due to lack of jobs and better schedules. As a consumer, I benefit greatly from Instacart and Lyft. But their workers are contracted and assume all the risk. Fuel, car maintenance, safety. Working outside the US in countries that are cash based with high crime only makes things worse. No matter where these companies take on work, they are taking advantage of the contracted worker.
