@@OnlyOpinionswithRBennett If they'd kept going there was a very good chance it would get all predictable and bland (MSG, anyone?), like literally every other band of this sort from this time who hung about too long. What we have here is a live album that'll never be repeated, by a short-lived group of folk who weren't this band for long. This is good.

I saw them at Bristol Colston Hall in the 70s. The greatest live show I have ever seen. Still gives me goosebumps today to watch this video- and I'm 60 years old. Insanely talented band - you might think they are a Led Zep wannabee but they had a truly unique and inspired sound. Just gorgeous.

Far beyond Zeppelin, mate. 2 guitarists, either of which could put ol Pagey to shame, mad energy and chemistry, etc..and the only band I ever got to hang with (pre-show, not after party-I was working): Santa Monica Civic '77, with Rush opening. I'm 42 and if I could go back in time and see 1 band (outside of The Doors in 67) it's UFO during the peak. The Schenker years. Man alive they were fire. Schenker is god. Andy and Pete play so well together and Phil is the absolute most underrated frontman of all time. Fantastic voice and presence. Sucks they split cause UFO wasn't the same without Michael. Tho I do enjoy MSG it wasn't as good either.

Strangers In The Night was decades before its time , still has the musical impact in 2024 as it did back in “78”. It’s a short list of albums that one listens to thousands of times that have the same impact as if it was the first . Arguably the greatest live album ever released.

Absoutely agreed. I've been a professional punk musician since the mid 80s and I'll never forget first hearing Schenker on that album. It quietly changed my approach to writing, particularly using harmonic scales. All this was secret squirrel stuff, of course, held back from my punk compatriots. However, I still thank Michael Schenker for teaching me musical tweaks to add to the basics to prevent blah in the music. It's given me the job and life I've loved for forty years, now. Thank you, Michael Schenker. Even if you are a hippy.

Absolutely amazing band and performance. I saw them twice on the Strangers tour and they were the Best Live Band, and their albums are great also. AD/DC backed them up while Bon Scott was still singing...the Let There Be Rock era. They were fun, but UFO's sound, Phil's vocals are the best, Michael absolutely smoked, their arraignments, sound, great keyboard sounds, the whole band, tight as can be. They were the best since Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Skynyrd. The other time Judas Priest backed them up. 99% of people there didn't know who they were. I had been listening to Sad Wings for about a year, so they sound good. There's is one of the best Live album ever, no question; and awesome in concert.

I first came across this album as a teenage guitar learner/player in the 80s and despite my musical tastes having changed significantly since then*, it's still hovering in my top 10, when I'm being honest. Anyway, I've always had a vision of the gig in my head, and that place really wasn't it. I'm quite happy I can revert to my imaginary one again, which I realise is more than a wee bit likely to be an idealised version of the band and venue which never existed. But, I can live with that, eh. Thank's again for replying, eh.
