Love the punk stuff in this video. I am of the belief that God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols would have been No.1 had it not been for the BPI rigging the chart, because, the Pistols were actually outselling Rod Stewart in that week, and I'd heard that the BPI decided not to include some sales from some of the major record shops (HMV, Virgin, Tower Records), and apparently there was no chart returns in that same week also. In some charts, the title of that song and the name of the band was "blanked out" in some newspapers and in a few record shops. The BPI obviously didn't want that song to climax with the events of the Queen's Silver Jubilee that week too, not to mention this would have been awkward for the presenters of Top Of The Pops to announce it, had it been a No.1 and then have to skip it (like they had to with "Je T'Aime" a few years prior). Yeah, I think it was rigged, although even after all these years I'm surprised that it's neither been confirmed nor denied by the BPI.

The controversial God Save The Queen, which some people thought was rigged to only peak at number 2 rather than number 1

Listening to this music only reinforces the stereotypes about how depressive life was in Britain!!!!! I would be majorly depressed if this was all there was to listen to . . . . it's almost uniformally awful (one or 2 exceptions)!!!
