The auxiliary heat element uses a lot of electricity. We just had an Amana S series system installed and every time it goes below 14° F the 3-ton unit draws 12 kilowatts. We have a smaller unit for our upstairs and when both units are running it draws 18 kilowatts. Our winter temperatures settings are 64 degrees Fahrenheit at night and 67 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. on the coldest day so far here in Texas we used 170 kwh per day. we have well insulated attic and double pane windows everywhere. we did not use this much electricity with our old York heat pumps. We certainly hope it will be more efficient at air conditioning, but it hasn't been any cheaper for heating than our old heat pumps. The outside units are very quiet. The thermostat sure could use more tutorials. Notice how they don't tell you what they will charge you for looking at your thermostat remotely.

@flotsamike, We are sorry to hear you're not satisfied with your new Amana S Series performance. Have you contacted your installation dealer for support? It's crucial to set the correct cut off temperature for your auxiliary heat and Heat Pump. If these settings are set too high, the heat pump might not run at certain temperatures and you will run more Auxiliary Heat. Your dealer can adjust this to ensure your heat pump operates even below 14°. Balancing the system and programming both the heat pump and backup auxiliary heat are vital for maintaining your preferred temperature and comfort level. By default the system is set up to cut off the heat pump at between 20-15°. (This can be set lower to keep your heat pump working) The Amana S thermostat was designed for ease of use and efficiency. Your installer should have walked you through all of the steps necessary to operate your system. But just in case on the Amana thermostat top left corner menu there is an option labeled "learn more" Here the thermostat can guide you through operation and settings that are built in. Thanks for watching our video and commenting on your experience. We truly hope for the best with your unit.

@alltheboost8016 Thank you for watching our video and considering an Amana system! The combination of a condenser, furnace, and filter system with a Reme light is a great choice for both efficiency and air quality. Here are a few key questions to ask your installers: Compatibility: Confirm that the Reme light is fully compatible with your chosen furnace and filter system.Installation Experience: Ask about their experience with installing Reme lights alongside Amana systems. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. Maintenance Requirements: Inquire about the maintenance schedule for both the HVAC system and the Reme light. Understanding upkeep will help keep your system running smoothly. Efficiency Ratings: Make sure the system meets the energy efficiency standards and ask about any potential rebates or incentives. Warranty and Support: Check on the warranties for all components and what kind of support and service they offer post-installation.

@@primehvac your videos are amazing and your reply to comments might be even more amazing! Thank you so much! I’m in Utah, the company I would be using did a very thorough inspection and it would be the complete Amana system like this one. Also, they are partnered with the local gas utility company and it come with a 10 year parts and 10 year labor warranty. They did discuss the Electric and Natural Gas rebates along with the tax credit.

can this be paired with a Amanda Modulating gas unit? tks
@primehvac
@primehvac 20 күн бұрын
Hey John, Thank you for watching and commenting on our video. The Amana S is very versatile because you can pair it with any furnace, including modulating gas units. If you just want to replace the coil and the condenser, the Amana S has an adapter that makes it compatible with virtually any gas furnace. However, we recommend installing a full system, including the gas furnace and the outdoor condenser, to achieve the best performance and overall technology. By the way, you can also make it a dual-fuel system, which can save you more money in the winter depending on which area of the country you live in. This is the best way to install these high-efficiency Amana S systems. Hope this helps 👍

Wow, this video really helped me understand the features and technology that Amana offers. I love the small size of the S Series. When I look on their website, I also see the AVZC20, the ASZV9, and the AVZC18. Which of these are in the same generation as the S Series? Are some older? Also, why does the S Series not have ComfortBridge Technology? Am I missing out on anything if I don't get that?
@primehvac
@primehvac 11 ай бұрын
@kylewilcox Wonderful questions! Thank you so much for tuning into our video. We're truly thrilled that you've noticed the fantastic features the S series brings to the table. The S series stands as the latest evolution in our inverter line, and within that series, the ASVZ9 takes the spotlight as the freshest cube-style inverter system from Amana. This impressive lineup reaches an impressive 19 SEER2. It's worth noting that the other models you mentioned are no longer in production. Cast your mind back to when the Amana coolcloud made its debut - it marked the cutting edge of technology, enabling customers to freely choose and install their desired thermostat on the wall. Additionally, dealers could seamlessly initiate, program, and assess diagnostics through a tablet. The brand-new Amana S Series introduces the Wi-Fi thermostat as a powerful communicating device. This innovation collaborates harmoniously with Amanda Cloud services, streamlining the dealer's experience. Specifically engineered to complement the unit, this is why the Amana Series no longer includes the cool cloud feature. Should you be contemplating the upgrade of your current HVAC unit with a high-efficiency inverter system, the Amana S Series undoubtedly ticks every box that matters to you as a consumer: Efficiency Quiet operation Comprehensive warranty Compact size Simplicity of maintenance Rest assured, choosing the Amana S Series will leave you thoroughly satisfied.

@primehvac 11 ай бұрын
@KyleWilcox We completely understand where you're coming from. It's only natural to feel hesitant about the idea of having to replace your air conditioning and heating system. We'll admit, our enthusiasm for what we do and our love for the Amana brand might make us a bit biased, but we genuinely get it - waking up to the thought of a system replacement isn't the most exciting prospect. Replacing an air conditioning system in a home is a significant decision and one of the more substantial repairs that homeowners like yourself might have to face. Here's where Amana steps in with their incredible offers: they truly understand the challenges and concerns that come with this. That's why they provide such fantastic rebates and financing options that can ease the burden. You're looking at options like 0% financing for 18 months, or flexible financing terms tailored to your unique budget and needs. If you're in the DFW area, we're here for you. We offer free estimates with absolutely no obligations attached. Our team of designers is ready to lend a hand. They'll expertly measure your ducts, assess the heat load, and meticulously inspect all the necessary components. Why? Because when the time comes for you to make the switch and experience the Amana S series, we want everything to be perfect. We're all about delivering results that truly impress. And speaking of the S series, if you're considering upgrading to the S series heat pump, you'll want to pair it with the AHVE lineup air handler. This specific air handler boasts an EEV valve and a variable speed motor. It's been meticulously crafted to work seamlessly with the Amana S series heat pump, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. Remember, we're here not just as HVAC professionals, but as understanding individuals who genuinely care about your comfort and peace of mind. You're not alone in this process, and we're excited to guide you every step of the way.

@@primehvac Ok, that is super helpful. I'm now realizing that all my research so far has been about the heat pumps. Could you make a video explaining the differences between the air handlers? Specifically, which air handlers can be used with which heat pumps? If I can only afford a single stage heat pump now, can I buy the AHVE air handler now and upgrade the heat pump later?
@primehvac
@primehvac 11 ай бұрын
@KyleWilcox, It's great that you're diving deep into understanding the intricacies of HVAC systems. I can shed some light on the air handlers. The AHVE air handlers are specifically designed for the Amana S-Series heat pump setup. If you're leaning towards the Amana S-Series, the AHVE would be the ONLY choice. Looking at single-stage applications, the AMST model air handlers are a solid choice. They offer both efficiency and reliability. If you're considering future upgrades or just want a versatile option from the start, the AVPTC model is a standout. It's not only well-suited for single-stage heat pumps but also compatible with two-stage heat pumps and straight AC setups. While these are general recommendations, individual needs can vary. It's always beneficial to consult with an HVAC specialist in your area to ensure the best fit for your requirements. Hope this clarifies things for you. PS - Thank you for the video idea. We will make a video explaining Air Handlers and the options they offer in a later video.

What is difference between Daikin Fit and Amana S, besides Price
@primehvac
@primehvac 11 ай бұрын
Thank you for engaging with our video and sharing your thoughts! It's fantastic to delve into the nuances between the Daikin Fit and Amana S units. These two units indeed bear striking similarities, not only in design but also in their general pricing, making them competitors that are neck and neck in the market. The final choice between them, as you rightly pointed out, can often be influenced by the dynamic interplay of market forces and dealer affiliations. In this landscape, the distinction between an Amana dealer, who is exclusively authorized to provide Amana brand products, and a Daikin dealer, who wields the mantle of Daikin's offerings, plays a pivotal role. This branded approach ensures that customers have access to a specialized array of options, tailored to their preferences and requirements. Beyond the branding and dealer affiliations, there are subtle differentiators that add to the uniqueness of each unit. A visual cue that catches the eye is the distinctive palette of paint colors and logos that adorn these units, subtly underlining their individuality. One significant feature that tips the scales in favor of the Amana unit is its extraordinary 99-Year Warranty, a testament to the brand's confidence in its product's durability and performance. In contrast, Daikin steps up with a commendable 12-year warranty, emphasizing its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. We appreciate your engagement and enthusiasm for exploring the intricacies of these HVAC units. Remember, both the Daikin Fit and Amana S units are equipped to deliver exceptional heating and cooling experiences. Ultimately, the choice between them boils down to the interplay of factors like warranties, branding, and individual preferences.

What are your thoughts about removing horizontal drain pan when installing unit vertically?
@primehvac
@primehvac 7 ай бұрын
@ernestogalindo3149 Thank you for your question. Here is our thoughts. Removing a horizontal drain pan during the vertical installation of a unit, such as an air handler or HVAC system, can be a critical decision that depends on various factors. Here are my thoughts on this matter: 1. Purpose of the Drain Pan**: The primary role of the horizontal drain pan is to collect condensation and prevent water leakage that could cause damage to the unit or the surrounding area. In a vertical installation, the orientation and gravity's effect on water flow change, potentially making the original horizontal pan ineffective or unnecessary. 2. Design and Installation Specifications**: It's essential to refer to the manufacturer's guidelines and specifications. Some units are designed to operate both horizontally and vertically, possibly with different components for each orientation. If the manufacturer advises removing the pan for vertical installation, it's likely engineered to work without it in that orientation. 3. Condensation Management**: If the horizontal pan is removed in a vertical setup, ensure there's an alternative system to manage condensation effectively. This might include an integrated vertical pan, internal channels, or direct drainage options that align with the vertical configuration. 4. Risk of Damage and Leaks**: Without proper condensation management, there's a risk of water damage to the unit and the surrounding environment. Ensure that the new configuration adequately addresses these risks. 5. Efficiency and Performance**: Assess how the removal of the pan impacts the unit's efficiency and performance. In some cases, altering the original design can void warranties or lead to unforeseen operational issues. 6. Professional Assessment**: It's advisable to consult with a HVAC professional or the unit's manufacturer. They can provide tailored advice based on the specific model and installation environment. 7. Local Codes and Regulations**: Always check local building codes and regulations. Some areas might have specific requirements regarding HVAC installations, including drainage and moisture control. In conclusion, removing a horizontal drain pan during vertical installation can be appropriate if it aligns with the unit's design and manufacturer's instructions, and if adequate measures are taken to manage condensation and prevent leaks. Professional advice and adherence to local regulations are crucial in making an informed decision.

What is the difference between the AG3000 surge protector and the Compressor Defender? Based what I'm seeing, the Compressor Defender has more features, but if my guess is on the mark, it is not need on this variable speed system. Is that correct?
@primehvac
@primehvac 9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your thoughtful question! When it comes to safeguarding your air conditioning and heating systems, both of these products are top-notch choices. The Compressor Defender is primarily designed for outdoor units, offering a robust shield against potential threats. On the other hand, the AG 3000 is a versatile solution that can be applied to both indoor and outdoor applications. We often opt for the AG3000 due to its exceptional protection, particularly for inverter-driven units. Here are some standout features of the AG 3000 *Heating and Air-Conditioning Surge Protection Solution *An extra-bright LED indicator light, ensuring you can easily monitor your protection status. *A generous 3-year, $7,500 connected equipment warranty for your peace of mind. *It complies with all UL 1449, 4th Edition standards, guaranteeing top-notch performance. *The Type 4X weatherproof and UV resistant enclosure ensures durability. *You'll find 18-inch 10-gauge tinned copper leads, which are robust and reliable. *It incorporates TPMOV® Surge Technology with arc-shield, enhancing protection. *With compatibility for 120/240 VAC Single Phase systems, it's versatile. *Quick installation onto your AC disconnect or furnace switch-box makes setup a breeze. I hope this information helps you make an informed decision about the right choice for your specific situation. If you have more technical questions, don't hesitate to consult your owner's manual or reach out to your local manufacturers for expert guidance. Your comfort and safety are paramount, and these products are excellent investments in that regard.

The most important questions that have not been answered are how much more is this system than a traditional system and what is the expected cost savings for efficiency. If the system is $5-$6K more than it would most likely not pay for itself over the life of the system. Most new systems would last 10 years if your lucky. This system seems more complicated which means fewer companies trained which would also result in higher long term costs. Having a cloud thermostat monitored by a 3rd party means if the electric company wants to shut your system down due to a grid issue someone could access your system remotely. I would suggest providing more facts related to features and benefits. It sounds more like the system benefits the Manufacturer and installation company. I can only imagine the cost of replacement parts. Is the cloud service an additional cost? What is the warranty my guess is 2 years on labor 10 years parts but only to the original purchaser. Just my opinion the more sophisticated and complex the more potential failure points.

Thank you so much for your comment! We really appreciate your thoughtful questions and love engaging with such curious minds. Your questions are all valid and reasonable, and we’re happy to provide some answers. 1. Cost Comparison: The cost difference between our system and traditional systems is an important factor. Our mid-tier high-efficiency unit is actually comparable to, or even lower in cost than, a traditional 2-stage unit. This makes it an attractive option for homeowners looking for both efficiency and affordability without compromising on quality. 2. System Longevity: High-efficiency inverter systems are designed and built to last well beyond 10 years. They come equipped with numerous features, including low pressure and high-pressure switches, amp monitoring, suction pressure, and refrigerant temperature sensors, among others. These features ensure the system can avoid catastrophic failures by proactively managing and monitoring its operations. Traditional basic units often lack these advanced safety features, making them more prone to failures. While traditional systems have their place, they typically do not offer the same level of reliability and durability as our advanced systems. 3. Advanced Training and Industry Trends: The advanced training required for these units ensures that you're hiring top-tier professionals. As new EPA regulations and refrigerants like R32 and 454b become standard, this technology will become more prevalent, making single-stage and 2-stage equipment obsolete. Within the next five years, high-efficiency inverter systems will likely become the norm. 4. Cloud Thermostat and Security: Our cloud services provide extensive monitoring capabilities, such as run times, humidity control, and failure diagnostics, all aimed at saving time and enhancing system efficiency. These services are included with all installations, with no monthly or yearly fees. Homeowners have full control over their system's monitoring settings and can choose to opt out if they prefer. Rest assured, electric companies or other third parties do not have access to your system, as it is secured through Amana’s cloud and dealer cloud services. 5. Replacement Parts and Warranty: Our 10-year parts and labor warranty covers the original homeowner, providing peace of mind for a decade. Beyond this period, replacement parts for these systems are no more expensive than those for typical 2-stage or high-efficiency inverter systems. Proper installation with the best tools and practices enhances the system's longevity, aiming for well beyond 10 years. At Prime AC and Heat, our goal is to provide top-quality installations to ensure long-lasting performance. Industry Evolution and Customer Benefits: The HVAC industry is constantly evolving, pushing the boundaries of efficiency and durability. While new technologies can seem challenging, having a well-trained and capable installation company as your partner is crucial. Every manufacturer is shifting towards high-efficiency inverter systems, and more of these systems will continue to enter the market. Homeowners benefit the most in this competitive landscape, gaining access to highly efficient and reliable systems. By choosing the right company, customers ensure their investment is supported by extensive training and a commitment to future-proofing their systems. We hope this answers your questions thoroughly and provides a clearer picture of the benefits and reliability of our systems. Thank you again for your engagement and thoughtful questions. We have many videos coming down the pipeline which we're working on a series that demonstrates the difference between a traditional single-stage equipment and these new inverter driven systems. At our shop we have a system that we installed for training and for customers to walk in and see the systems in action. If you haven't already please subscribe to our channel to continue your support and stay tuned for more videos in the future. Thanks again

Thank you for your quick reply. For a comparison I was quoted $6K more than a conventional system with TXV / 2 stage furnace as I live in the midwest. If I take $6K at a modest interest rate of 5% compounded over 10 years that return is $9200. I seriously doubt I would obtain a $9200 efficiency savings. I am all for new more efficient technology but not at the cost of the consumer. If the Manufacturer truly believed the systems would last well beyond 10 years than why not offer a 20 year warranty in addition most people will most likely move within 10 years voiding the warranty. This is just my opinion and I can tell you 95% of people never ask the right questions which is why the EV car market is struggling because people have realized the value is not there. Thanks for your time and all the best to you.

@johnwhite2576
@johnwhite2576 Жыл бұрын
No…daikin/Amana got screwed with the new ratings systems-they don’t game it and skew sensible/latent ration to hit that mark-instead, the make sure they have enough latent to deal with humidity -you decide, comfort or tax credits?…
@primehvac
@primehvac 11 ай бұрын
Indeed, the unique approach taken by Daikin/Amana in response to the evolving ratings systems becomes apparent. Rather than manipulating the sensible/latent ratio to conform to predefined efficiency thresholds, their emphasis is placed on ensuring an adequate latent capacity, which is vital for effective humidity control. This introduces a noteworthy juncture for decision-making: the choice between prioritizing augmented comfort through suitable latent capacity or potentially pursuing tax credits by optimizing the sensible/latent ratio to satisfy established criteria. The ultimate strategic direction will pivot on a judicious balance between these factors. In light of the forthcoming refrigerant requirements within the next coming years, Amana/Daikin's strategic position becomes notable. They stand poised not only to sustain their offerings of high-comfort equipment but also to leverage the attributes of the new refrigerant R32 to potentially achieve the ratings that have proven elusive with the current R-410A refrigerant system configuration. It is notable to also say that Amana/Daikin does offer traditional 'cube' style units that still achieve the ratings and efficiency requirements for tax credits. But these new units (S-Serires and Fit) are the future and the technology that they provide will only get better!
