American Revolution is a sandbox strategy game featuring the epic historical period during the rebellion of the American colonies against the British Empire. Take on the role of the British or American Colonists, and fight for territorial control over North America. A gripping real-time campaign awaits you on a detailed 3d map where you can build your army and navy, construct military infrastructure, and fully command your armies on a regimental level. If you want even more action you can fully zoom-in and fight massive battles on a battalion level.
Fight in real-time on the global map with regiments and naval squadrons. Move your General to gain the tactical control of the situation in a minimal way. The presence of the General makes it possible to control the troops or ships directly on map, actively use maneuvers, cut supply routes, utilize different types of terrain and flank with cavalry. The battles can be fought with more detail and full tactical control by zooming-in further on the map.
If you choose to fight battles with full tactical control, the regiments become divided into smaller battalions allowing you the command of hundreds of units in real-time, creating a dazzling and realistic combat experience of the historical period. Troops are positioned in a landscape according to the placement they had on the map at the given time. Some will engage the enemy immediately, others can be re-positioned in deployment zones, while those which were further away may join later as reinforcements.
Realistic reconnaissance is simulated, making messages the basis of military intelligence and battle maneuvering. Messages can be delayed or be intercepted by the enemy, resulting in your orders not reaching your troops in time or rendering communication with your distant territories impossible.
Army management
You have full control over your army's composition. Available recruits are determined based on your success in battle and the loyalty of the population. Use these recruits to create divisions, brigades, and regiments. Keep your soldiers alive and they will learn to fight better, turning them from green rookies into crack veterans. Take too many casualties and you might not have enough recruits to reinforce your units and win the next battle. Lose too many battles and the population's loyalty and army morale will drop and the war will be lost.
Supply is essential
Three base supply items are needed for each unit: weapons, ammunition and food. Weapons and ammunition are provided by weapon factories. Weapons are received when a new unit is created and later these weapons can be replaced by better ones, according to availability. Ammunition consists of gunpowder, bullets and balls which are spent in battle and must be replenished for maintaining your army in a minimum fighting condition. It is also necessary to constantly supply your army with food, otherwise non-combat losses will grow and the morale of the soldiers will drop. The army can forage a territory for food but, in this case, the welfare of the region and the loyalty of population will deteriorate.
Food & other Resources
Food is produced in agricultural facilities. The more food a region produces, the larger the army it can feed. To increase food production, it is necessary to raise the agricultural level of the region. Surplus food will be stored in warehouses or sent to other regions. Mineral resources are needed to produce weapons, ammunition, and ships. Each region has different resources that can be mined. To increase production, it is necessary to develop the level of mineral resource extraction in a region.
Ammunition & weapon production
To produce weapons and ammunition, you must develop the military industry. The game has a simplified system, in which you need to build factories and shipyards. The factories are used for the production of small arms, guns, ammunition, and supply wagons. With the shipyards you build warships and supply ships.

19:30 There was an 85% casualty rate compared to 25 % in the first battle. That alone would have been a total victory. Historically, those figures would make massive headlines around the world. The British people would have made an enormous uproar, and the French would enter the war much sooner. Also, can you see the total amount of casualitys on each side???

Quick reminder for naval combat, chain shot is for damaging sails and masts. There is a POV mode that allows you to order individual ships to focus fire on specific points on a targeted enemy ship. The reason why your ships lost masts so quickly was because the British ship was purposely aiming at them to immobilize them. Also, there are two buttons at the bottom to order a ship to hold it's fire on either the port or starboard side.

42:32 right click on the front ship and it’ll follow at a distance, pulling the second ship from the tandem also made the front ships morale drop faster.

The upper part of the bow is a flat bulkhead, so it's quite easy to rake the ship from the front via that point. In the 1820s, as a result of Robert Seppings round bow and round stern, warships of this period became mich less vulnerable to raking, and also had improved ability to do all-round fire.

Bow raking was a thing 100% but the stern rake was much more “feared” discussed. Maybe the rounded bow deflects some shot? Idk but the stern wake got way more talk.

That unit you sent from Ft John went into Trois right as your commander was going to find them, so they arrived, 587 of them i think.

I've been watching your videos since about the time I started playing the early access on steam (so since the start of June and here are some suggestions for the future...or some things I learned the hard way and wish to pass on. I'm to the point in the campaign where I have all of the original colonies, but France forced me to give up canada or they would declare war with 10k+ troops....some ally....not sure if I have to wait until 1783, but British spawned over 7k troops and 19 warships recently out of thin air to retake Georgia. Getting a bit frustrating that I cannot 'win' yet. Hope these tips help. Cities/forts can only have a certain number of troops - massive attrition if over that number- a big pro for you when it happens to them, con when it happens to you. can upgrade forts with tech later and with barracks (upgrade to recruiting house) or military base. Also based on population. Spread out regiments to other cities to help with replenishments, replenish in bigger cities easier than far away forts. I don't think the transfer of recruits works really well. Unit 'location' in a list is a form of priority (move back and forth) - also another priority 'up arrow' on the unit itself. Number of units attacking one unit hurts their morale more. Merging units means 1 v 1 or 2 v 1 if you don't do it, but shatter if casulties too high. Artillery also makes a big difference as you saw too. It's easier to destroy the morale of a unit than kill every one. Easier to kill/hunt it down with cav if it's already routing. When your unit routs, it's morale got too low, don't shove it right back into the firing line otherwise it will instantly rout again - let it regen a bit when you can. With the steam release, there is now a mini map - look at the date/ day ticker and there is now a little arrow pointing up just above that window. It's great for seeing where current battles are (on land or sea) or also great to help see when the AI is moving regiments (or your regiments) through the fog of war. Artillery units have both pieces and guns. It kind of defaults to civilian muskets and you need to click back and forth like a normal unit to upgrade/change either weapon. You can directly upgrade militia to regulars once you do the proper research, no real reason to disband and reform as regulars. Though it can be helpful if you have 2 heavily damaged units - disband one unit to then almost get instantly recruited to fill the ranks in the other one within a day. Build printing press (or upgrade) wherever you can so you can have merchant stalls and tax offices in cities . Build fur trappers since they massively pay the best in cities and forts. One of the biggest factors for build points (build speed) is population and labor. I don't think prisoners affects it at all, but you can also assign a specialist to a region to help with any city/fort for those sparsely populated places. That is also how you can do espionage (for when the AI controls an area). Some buildings needs other buildings to upgrade. For example the level 1 ship yard, needs a lumber mill (level 2 carpenter shop) so it can be upgraded to level 2 ship yard (drydock)

@@EmperorKranng When you click on the unit - and having only played it once, I am not sure exactly what the tech is - like a unit promotion, you will see 2 'up arrows' on the regiment card rather than the promotion field. Click on that and it will then show it can be upgraded and the gold cost to upgrade. If you don't see those two golden upgrade arrows in the upper corner of the card, you don't have the correct tech yet and can't change them over. But I disbanded and re-created probably a dozen regiments before I eventually noticed in game the ability to change them directly over. In some cases though, it might make more sense to disband a militia regiment to get raw recruits to then go into the regular units to bump up their replenishment and then just re-incorporate that officer to another unit later down the line. Same with ships - before they sink (too damaged to repair) disband and see the ship in the market place and then build a new one and re-incorporate the ship (or a better one) and save the loss the cannons.

i know its pre recorded and all but if you are going to do another campaign, keep in mind the enemy company can only target one unit at a time

Raking was so effective because the Stern was flat and wide open. And you had no way of effectively protecting it, right at the end of the age of sail you sort of could, but for the most part there was no way. And bulkheads would put so much weight high up in the ship they where simply not possible. So you ended up with a wide open unprotected gundeck that was incredibly vulnerable with no way to adress the problem.

You marched past your troops you sent from Fort St John. There were arriving when your general was leaving.

He's talking about the troops he was sending TO Fort St. John. Those troops he sent, but then canceled by selecting his entire force and ordering them to garrison Trois Rivieres, so they never ended up leaving for Ft. St. John.

Need to have a navy. Capturing ships is the best then have a fleet for seek n destroy.

Would it work better to first move your troops to their line and then click for which enemy you want them to attack rather than doing the attack click first? Often it looks like it brings them up in a straight line to the enemy and often will overlap or block off other units firing line, leave large gaps in your line, or offer a bad angle to the enemy. When playing UGCW I would always get my line where i wanted and then issue direct fire orders, or just let them select who they want to attack once the line is where i wanted it.
