Estimated 6 million wild hogs in the US increasing at about a 20% rate every year. But there aren’t enough hunters to keep up with the rate of increase year after year. Somebody needs to develop an AI rapid fire system that does not miss and fires very rapidly, set up two or three stations wipe out the whole herd.

The feral hog problem is terrible in a lot of the US (mainly texas), but great job to you guys putting a little dent in it here and there. They are a HUGE problem which will take a long period of time to take care of and reduce their numbers (if they don't keep exponentially populating). But it is great to watch. I wish I had your job and could help the landowners and farmers of Texas like you guys do, getting rid of those bastards who never should have been there to begin with. These hogs are smart critters and get educated with every experience they have with trapping and/or shooting... just wondering if using silencers would delay their 'automatic scattering' at the sound of gunfire, so as to be better able to pick a few more off before they bolt - I think using silencers would bring a higher kill ratio. BTW, it would be good to know that these kills are filling up some deep freezers --- either way, keep up the good work boys!
@seanblack9085
@seanblack9085 2 жыл бұрын
Silencers would work at longer distances, and maybe give you a second or more to get onto another hog but it would likely only work at longer distances, 200 or more and at that point it would be more efficient to be as close as these guys are, to give you a lot of time while they are running away and easier targets to shoot

I did have one question though. What do you do with all the dead hog carcasses? 79 in one night is a lot of hog. Do they get cleaned or just buried? Either way seems like an awful lot of work after the fun hunting part. Getting rid of all the offal must be a problem too, because I assume that attracts other predators. What a complex problem.

AFAIK, there isn't much of anything to do with them. From what I understand,the big ones don't taste good while the small ones do. It is unfortunate that they have become feral and they can't be used (eaten)once killed. I don't know if they bury them or not, my guess would be not as there are so many of them, it would take a lot of resources to collect them and a big backhoe to dig a pit.

@@danielspencer1827 you can eat feral hog. Just gotta cook it properly. Though, you will always have to be very careful as to if they carry diseases or not. The methods for testing that I imagine is watching for a while before culling.
@danielspencer1827
@danielspencer1827 2 жыл бұрын
@@DoraTheMFDestroya , I agree they can be eaten but, from what I understand, most of the time they are crawling with ticks and other parasites. The resources to collect and transport all of the carcases and then immediately process them would be enormous. Just collecting 100 hogs quickly enough would take many backhoes and trailers or dump trucks and a army of people butchering. That's why I say that there isn't much to do with them. These ranchers are probably pretty tired and ready for bed after a night of this. Letting the hogs stay invites another issue which is drawing in Coyotes. Killing the hogs is actually just the beginning of even bigger issues with them. Any rancher hates waste and it probably just makes their guts wretch that these hogs go to waste on top of the destruction they cause.

My friend Kevin has property in Elgin, Texas and he lets me come out and fish on the huge pond there. One day last year I called him to see if I could come out to fish, and he told me that the tank was no longer there. I thought he'd lost his mind! Turns out, feral hogs came in and completely destroyed it in just a couple of nights--they rooted around until all that was left was a giant mud bog. Literally. If I hadn't known, I'd have thought someone came in with a back hoe and purposefully destroyed it. My friend and some of his friends have been shooting these hogs but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I recently took a trip up to Mineral Wells and there was a 30 mile length of Route 180 where I saw dead hogs every 50 yards or so, presumably hit by cars. The problem is worse than people think.
