Huge Disclaimer: Tmobile fans pay attention!! the umidigi f2 has low band 71 for its rural and travel. THE Galaxy A51 does not have this band....... FYI 😊 🖐️ 📱

I’m an iPhone user but strongly tempted to switch to Android. A comparison of the ecosystems would be good? I’ve found myself conflicted by the customizability on Android and the options to add storage but then put off how your data is in the hands of Google, Samsung and Android. Also, I don’t like how slow Samsung is to update their devices to Android 10 and how they limit features etc. That sucks. Isn’t there also something about how companies stop providing security updates after 2 years. That’s so weird for an iPhone user to experience.

they are pretty close but i like the 6gb ram in the F2 compared to the 4 on the 51. also like the side fingerprint sensor on the F2. Right now i like the price of the F2 as it's 70 less. also like the better cameras in the f2. would have been nice to see a full review of the F2 and it's cameras. Stiill not sure which one i want to buy yet but i'm thinking the F2. Also want to know if the F2 has a galery for the pics as the F1 doesn't but can see them on google photos or the review after taking a picture of all the pics on the phone.

Pretty sure the F2 uses Google Files for your gallery just like the Power 3. With the Power 3 you are able to see the preview of the picture right after you take it if you click the previews on the bottom left of the camera app

For what it's worth, I want to say I like your videos and just wish I watched them yesterday BEFORE I ordered my Umidigi F2. I'm thinking I can maybe cancel my order, but I cannot seem to find a better phone for the price. But from what I've seen and heard, some people basically say the phone doesn't quite live up to its lofty spec sheet and there are a few problems. Your review in particular mentions that Umidigi does not provide security updates, and to me that's just ridiculous. It doesn't matter how good the phone is if it's not secure.

I must say that this comparison showed Umidigi's surprising improvement. The speed on some the apps was surprising. I'm sure that Samsung has much better RAM management and though. I'd like to see that.

@Kevin Breeze, How durable does the back case of the Umidigi F2 feel? I have a Umidigi F1 & the plastic back case has 2 cracks in it. I dropped it a couple of times with the included case on & it still cracked. Hopefully Umidigi Has improved the durability. Other than the aforementioned it has been a good phone.

I like the stock Android skin a little bit better than the Samsung theme. But overall I do like the the A51 I like the screen better with the camera infinity display.

Umidigi F2 was my choice and it's a wonderful phone. It's my second Umidigi phone. The battery was a key factor in my choice. My next phone will probably be an Umidigi as well or perhaps a Xiaomi. Huawei was one of the very best in the world until the whole ban situation. I absolutely HATE Samsung phones. Why don't they simply offer stock Android? Their bloatware is always horrible. Great review.

Bought the A51 last week in December to replace a Umidigi Power that lasted 5 months. Here in Canada, Umi does not have service for their cells, the earpiece failed and could not hear callers and I contacted Umidigi. They advised they would send the replacement part for free, but it was up to me to pay to get it serviced at my expense. Yeah, nah. So I paid full price for the A51, but it is well worth it, liking it a lot. Umidigi looks like an up and coming company, but they are not there yet. Buyer beware.

A51 is clearly better - it's a no brainer. My friend had similar experience with Umidigi F1. It heated up, throttled and freezed with light gaming. He wanted to return the phone or get a replacement and he was told to send the phone using own arrangements. Long story short, the replacement phone came in without the converter adapter, and had the same problem with heating. Plus, A series phones gets a major software upgrade which I doubt Umi phones gets.

Umidigi has stock Android. You know I love stock over Samsung UI. For $300 buy a lg g8 over the a51. Just me. I returned the power 3. I liked it but I didnt love it. It was too heavy.

How's the battery in terms of heating? Does it heat up quickly/a lot? I heard that after a prolong usage the battery life tends to drain quicker than usual. Similar with the 6K mAh of Power 3.

Samsung Q51 has much betters cameras in terms of software, it has slo motion, night mode, super slo motion, And It is capable of 4k video recording and stabilization with the a51 but overall theyre good Aaaand samsung a51 has 8GB ram variant

One thing I noticed you always leave out with the USB c devices is whether or not they allow you to use a USB c to HDMI cord. Not talking about sex but some of us do like using that cord. I would appreciate it if you started testing that as Samsung often lies about whether or not they allow that via their ports.

My Galaxy S2 used to be able to do that. I tried the adapter on the F2 with a usb micro to usb c adapter but couldn't get any signal, so I don't think it works. Could be the adapter not working with newer phones though. As for Samsung, I know they made the regular adapters not work so you needed their own hardware to do it, still don't know if it's even possible on the A51.

Samsung buys low failure-rate parts, so the chances of the A51 breaking softwarewise or hardwarewise is less likely than the F2. If I had another 50$, I'd definitely go for the A51 to get the Super AMOLED.

I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but I hate narrow looking phones, they look too tall and thin/skinny for my liking, and no, I'm not making some kind of joke here or saying anything in regards to, well, you know... But anyway, along with the great specs and how new it is, the overall look and design of the Umidigi F2 is what caught my attention, it doesn't look quite as tall and narrow as some other phones despite its screen aspect ratio and size, at least to my eye. I don't know, maybe it's because of the bezel or something, but I like the look. II watched your other review on "Best Android phones under $300" and saw that both the Galaxy S9 and LG Stylo 5 have screens that display five icons wide as opposed to only four with the other phones. Even the LG G6(in your $100 phones review) displays 5 icons wide. I want to know if it's possible to make the Umidigi F2 display 5 icons wide as opposed to just 4 wide. I see there is a relatively large amount of space between the icons compared to some other phones(at least it looks that way to me); is there a way to change the settings or something to make it display 5 wide? Or could it be the Android version is simply different?

The screen looks horrible on the umidigi. The screen bleeding on the top bezel and around the hole punch and the washed out colours is a no no for a lot of people. It is not similar to the A51 in any way.

I used to be a fan of umidigi but it took me time to realize they don't have many developers to work on the software heavily so the cameras are pretty much trash. Umidigi x has an ok camera tho.

Your right, on most specifications, the redmi note 8 pro crushes the umidigi f2 except on one of the most important, if your in the UNITED STATES, umidigi f2 has almost every frequency band you would need for GSM carriers while the redmi note 8 pro only has bands 2 and 4 which are used in the UNITED STATES. If your in an area were you need bands 12, 13, 17, 28, 29, 30, 66, and 71 in the UNITED STATES, the redmi note 8 pro is sadly a useless brick without WiFi. Where I live it's predominantly bands 2 and 4, but you really need more frequency bands if you do any sort of traveling in the UNITED STATES.

The F2 looks to have some really terrible dark spots at the edges of the display, that's an instant dealbreaker to me. The Samsung also just looks way better imo.
