The umpires need to remember that we aren't there to watch them. There should be a rule that one or both of the General Managers should be able to throw an umpire out of the game if there is a good reason. And then it has to be reviewed. Umpires need to be held accountable for their poor decisions.

I don't think the John Lackey Angels ejection was an overreaction. When you throw behind a guy and then hit him on consecutive pitches, you clearly have an agenda and should be thrown out.
@bigidiotdumbstupidguy9329
@bigidiotdumbstupidguy9329 4 жыл бұрын
I can agree somewhat with this. But I don’t think he hit the batter. He got one like 8 inches behind him and the second was like 6 inches off his body, but the jersey hangs off pretty far which makes it look like a HBP. “If I were the ump” (famous last words before I get assaulted lmao), unless there were warnings before the game to both teams which means instant ejections, I would’ve given a warning and asked his catcher to talk to him. Yknow. “Be polite, but don’t ask, tell him what to do.”

That and there had been previous bad blood between the teams, that puts extra weight on anything in the game. Playing JV in 9th grade I remember the ump called infield fly rule in effect. For those who don’t know it means the batter is automatically out if he hits a popfly that stays in the end field when runners are on base. This prevents the fielder from intentionally letting it drop to get a double or triple play. It basically removes the force out. Anyways, the batter hits a pop up a mile in the air that our second baseman loses in the sun and drops between him and the pitcher mound and no out was called and now bases are loaded. Our coach comes out to ask what the hell and the field umpire knowing he’s wrong for flaking still sticks to his guns and says “well it wasn’t high enough”. A huge argument and ejection ensued. Case in point, if a local small time ump getting paid 50 dollars to officiate a game isn’t gonna admit he’s wrong, these “professional” ego-driven assholes certainty aren’t

None of you would last a single game let alone a season in either of their shoes as an umpire, so if I were you I would just let them do their job and you just be quiet and watch like your supposed to.

@Anthony DelVecchio your entire response shows just how little and immature and ignorant you really are. I don't have to kiss anything to know that. Point being, your obviously not an umpire and thank God because you don't have a clue.

I don't think an umpire overreacts when tossing a pitcher who throws at a batter and misses, then throws at him again and connects. Ian Kinsler no less. One of the most docile players in MLB.

Yeah of all the calls on here that was the one I am ok with the ump tossing him. Clear as day that he meant to plunk him but missed the first go round.

1:55 really wasn't an overreaction. Lackey was clearly trying to hurt Kinsler. The ump has to protect the player.

Disagree. He's throwing at the body not the head. Second, it's two pitches in - throwing out a starting pitcher that early completely changes the game. Issue warnings and then throw him out of he does it again.

@@danlorett2184 once is an accident. Twice in a row requires effort. And if not, tough shit. All that warming up leading to that.... and you do it twice? You shouldn't be on the mound. Period.

True. If the pitcher is a danger to the batter for whatever reason, then he shouldn't be pitching. The umpire was making the game safe in the only way he could.
@JasonKifner
@JasonKifner 3 жыл бұрын
@@danlorett2184 Throwing at the body can still cause injury and a helluva lot of pain. The batter is seriously vulnerable in the box and the pitcher is taking advantage of that vulnerability. It's like if I were to go to work and at some point in the day, while I'm typing away at the computer, some big guy comes up and punches me as hard as he can in the kidney.

@@boofert.washington2499 Reminds me of Dempster throwing 4 straight balls at A-Rod awhile back. You get one shot at that "retaliation pitch" If you miss it, it's on you and you shouldn't be trying to hit someone again. I guess it's just another baseball unwritten rule which is another reason why I like the game so much.
