The little nuances with a Mali make the difference. Like their love of pushing, and how lifting them off creates the drive for it. So helpful! Thanks

Thank you for explaining what you had said in other videos, plus a "plan of action". I had been putting my Malinois on a lead so I could make him bring me the tug or toy. This really clarifies how to work this plan to ensure the dog does bring the item back.

Alright, so I watched a number of your videos on Belgian Malinois dogs. It so happens, that I was asked about 6 weeks ago, do you want a dog? I replied, well, at my age and having had pets a few times in my life, I said no. Then, when I came home, there he was! Rosco is a beautiful, malnourished, and abandoned male Malinois. Apparently, he is about 8 years old. I didn't ask for any of this, yet, when presented, and especially looking him in the eyes, I was not able to resist, how could I? Rosco is very well-behaved, loyal and so loving, and especially craves attention. I have learned quite a bit about the breed since, who he is, and what he needs, which sort of shocked me. I am in my early 60s and don't really have the time for a dog that requires a couple of hours of vigorous activity each day. Still, what he gets today, is much better than anything he probably had and experienced thus far. I try to play with him using a wooden stick that I swing above him, tempting him to catch it. Once he does, we fight over it, which he absolutely loves. One thing is for sure, he wears me out in minutes, ha! At night, I usually spend about 20-30 minutes with him, just being huddled up, giving him my committed affection, and listening to my own music with him for the most part, which he seems to enjoy. After these short few weeks, I think about him, basically every other moment, with which I am saying, that he is a present family/community member. So, my question, do you think, if I apply your presented technique, I would be able to teach him to return the fetched item, even if he is his age?

I need to do this with my Doberman! She never brings the toys back. My Mal can do that all day long but not my Doby. I'll try tomorrow in my training session with them. Thanks for all the videos you post.

Amazing! that's what i was looking for! 💪 So this will be the first step for any fetching execrcises in the future? I'm trying to learn my Germ-Mal but he is going somewhere else with the you, should I pull him with the leash directly to me? he is going to me but finally he miss me, he is not going directly to me with the toy... any corrections?

Pure gold! Questions about my Dogo using his front paws after winning the flirt or ball(pins it down hard). Gets to the point we’re I have to use a lot of pressure on his flat collar and then he gives up cause of the conflict. He will bite a tug very rarely (usually when I’m playing with a friend or clients dog). I have had success with just a ball and a 20’ flexi. I’ll try to tug on the ball when he has it a few times then then I run away in the opposite direction. But as soon as a ball on string comes out all his drive is gone.
@AndyKrueger2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sorry I’m not sure I understand your question(s)… Also please include details about your dog like age and breed 🙏🏼
@joncowan80812 жыл бұрын
Sorry, he is a 1 1/2 year old Dogo Argentino. I can build drive for a toy say with a flirt pole then when he wins he pins is down with his feet very very hard; I use the leash to try and get him moving back to me while I move backwards. (he has been taught and understands leash pressure) Then gives up on the toy because of the conflict.
@AndyKrueger2 жыл бұрын
@@joncowan8081 You need an entirely new game plan. Shelf this play for one week, and during that time strategize a way to create a different interaction that prevents the dog from doing this.

Andy! Love this video. Our older dog loves keep away so we are gunna work on this with him. With young puppies do you worry about chewing and chew toys in the crate ruining their tug play? I'm talking about toys just to occupy them not anything I interact with them on.

"That dog's obnoxious." I tried to teach my dog not to jump on me to get the toy. I made him sit then I would throw it. Now he never wants to play with toys with me anymore. The only way I could get him interested in the toy again is if I start letting him know it's okay to jump on me??
