I hate drivers like that. I drive for Amazon, we have more deliveries to make each day than DPD drivers do, and some of the guys in my company drive like idiots because they think it's the only way to get the routes done in time (the routes officially should last no more than 9 hours from when you leave the depot to when you return to the depot). I drive sensibly, I don't speed, jump red lights, cut other vehicles off, overtake unless it's 100% safe and appropriate, and yet I am almost always finished within 7 hours, and quicker than all of the people who drive like idiots. I manage it because I'm efficient, I think about how to load my van, I pre-write a load of "we missed you" cards with common locations, I plan ahead when it comes to parking and don't just blindly follow the sat nav. There is no excuse for driving like a moron doing this job when there are multiple easy things you can do that make a much bigger difference to your delivery speed without doing anything stupid.

You do not talk rubbish. Here in the Netherlands these delivery vans drove like that too. Through street where children play outside an many people drive their bike or scootmobile. There were many complains and it ended up at the gouvernement. There come Chamber Questions. ( Lower House / House of Commons). They went i conclave with the parcel companies like DPD and Postnl. Untill then, the delivery drivers got paid per parcel delivered and after an agreement with the gouvernement, the van driver now get paid per hour. Hardly anymore crazy van drivers on our roads anymore. The Lower House ( 2e Kamer in Dutch) letter is public on their site. I found it and it was dated 2 Juni 2017.

I've had to take DPD to court after smashing my garden fence. They flat out refused to compensate. Photos of their damaged van on that side, white paint on my fence and 3 witnesses ensured the judge ruled against DPD and sentenced them to compensate me and costs. It was only a € 419,50 bill initially, but the arrogance with which they just did hit&run and then refused to act responsibly made me decide to take it to court anyway. Specifically warned them that since I've court sessions basically monthly for work already, filing one extra wouldn't be much worse so it'd be FAFO allround, but they persisted. Well, FAFO: Verdict came to a whopping € 1819,50.

At least DPD delivers and collects on time. I volunteer for a national charity in the U.K.. We used to have all of our unsaleable books picked up by a company and they would pulp what they couldn’t sell. Recently, their policy changed and we had to scan everything and anything they didn’t want, we were to just bin. I collected about 40 books, DVDs and CD’s, boxed them up and arranged for a pick up from the charity shop I work at. The company was going to give us £20 for the lot. I also told the company that there were people at the address from 9am to 5pm. The first courier from Evri, turned up at 8am and the second, a day later at 5.30pm ! I had to reschedule and reiterated the opening times of the shop; the first driver didn’t turn up and the second driver stated in an email that he’d turned up at 3.30pm but there was no answer ! This idiot must have knocked on the fire exit doors to the back of the shopping centre of which our shop is part of. That door leads to a corridor serving all the shops, who all have their own separate fire doors to it, so nobody would have heard him knocking ! Why he didn’t come into the shop from the front is anyone’s guess ! Due to all this hassle, I ended up closing the account and didn’t bother sending the stock to them. Evri on the other hand were STILL sending me emails stating they were going to pick it up ! Useless company ! It may have changed its name from Hermes but they still employ idiots !

I had a small courier business in the 1980's in Cheshire. Always made sure there was plenty of time for drops, nobody was pressurized into illegal driving. My business was squeezed out by Amtrak. Yes, cheaper but cheaper for a reason. About the same time loads of other delivery businesses started up, it was mayhem - van wars. The customer spoke then - cheaper is better, and you can apply that to pretty much everything else in business. We are in a slow death spiral, everyone is being dragged down as a few wealthy individuals float to the top.

Unfortunately this is what happens in a poorly regulated (if at all) sector. You hear politicians go on an on about cutting red-tape well this is what that looks like when there is no "Red-Tape". 40 hours a week is the max an employer can contract you to work (unless you voluntarily opt out) there should be something similar for the number of deliveries a courier can make per shift, it's only a matter of time before something really bad happens.

It’s actually over 180 parcels per ‘day’. They start at the crack of birdshit then the parcels come of a huge belt for the postcode they got that day. Then thru load their vehicle in the order the scanner tells them to (to make the delivery run a smooth journey) then they deliver as quickly as they can but get less per parcel if they have more than one at an address. So no wonder they drove like that. Police should step in no doubt.

Wonder if it's only in certain areas, though regardless of that, still wouldn't trust DPD to deliver my stuff. Even Amazon is better than DPD, but I'd prefer to stick with Royal Mail.

Perhaps so because where I am in West Yorkshire, 10 miles from Leeds, I usually don't see this kind of driving from DPD or Amazon. They usually drive safely around here

DPD drivers should just rebel against the high prop amount. Once went a DHL driver, he had 120 drops, drove like he was on the run and furthermore parcels that was do not stack was stacked

Never underestimate the stupidity of some van drivers. If you think that no-one will be idiotic enough to do something as stupid as we have just seen, then a van driver will normally prove you wrong. I wonder if DPD and other courier companies actually give a toss how their vans are driven just so long as all the deliveries are made on time.

Working for DPD is like having a ball and chain attached to you on a running machine for 12hrs. People have no idea the extreme stress they put you under. Giving you 15 hours of work to do in 12 on a daily basis, with ridiculous targets, no understanding of problems, expected to speed and cut corners wherever possible. Also every single delivery timed. Lose the delivery window and that's it your having the worst day of your life. Some people may find this video shocking, but I don't, I've worked there 😅

For a few years I worked for Blue line (before they went bust) I used a 17 ton truck to deliver 270 parcels a day and never even got a parking ticket. Never ever had any points on my license. It can be done.

"Not perfect, but no one is." - please don't excuse the police for doing a poor job. The more people defend their ineffectiveness, the more they will think they can get away with doing nothing for us...! If they can't be bothered to do their jobs properly, then they will cut corners and miss important details...!

DPD. I had a delivery from them once a laptop that had obviously been dropped - hard. Their package handling is as bad as the driving. The guy at Currys sighed and said that DPD stood for Damaged Probably Destroyed.

Three part solution: Delivery companies should be audited and prevented and enforced against making unreasonable demands of its drivers. Secondly, the drivers themselves ought to face some law enforcement, which is lacking currently. I suspect some of these idiots get a license online. Lastly, we should think twice before ordering on line, especially with a short deadline which encourages this stupid behaviour.

DPD IS the worst delivery service in Europe, often they never turn up and say the address was incorrect then the next day turn up and package was properly addressed, or they say recipient was not home when I was home all day. They lost 2 packages (I think their warehouse hub someone stole the packages) and then refused to help get the sender to file a claim so I could get the item resent. DPD su ks so bad I stopped purchasing items through eBay UK because they refused to get rid of DPD from their global shipping programme. Now on to their driving, they have a lot of wreckless drivers and their vehicles usually are scared from bad driving.
