The problem with DPD is that they don't care who drives the van, just as long as delivery gets done.
@RagedDrew
@RagedDrew 8 ай бұрын
Exactly this. They simply don't care how they drive, just get it done. That's why every single one of them are under the worse pressure and resort to driving like this. I wonder what would happen if cops up and down the country started getting all these videos and tracing the drivers and bring charges on them. How many did drivers would be left with a license?
@alexmore8527
@alexmore8527 8 ай бұрын
actually no,,, the real problem is the insane amount of work they give us and the threats of being fired constantly for failing unrealistic delivery times during illegal 15hr shifts, i'm a really good driver but I was forced to drive like a moron just to stop getting crap/threats from management, I nearly crashed several times during my time at DPD but ive never had an accident in 20+ years of driving outside of DPD.

@RagedDrew Again. The parcel companies wouldn't give two f*cks. It would take a few thousand licence holders to fall on their swords before the adverse publicity started to bite. If the fransport managers had to take points on their licences too. That might help.

@lablackzed A lack of licences isn't the problem. It's a pressure cooker of a job. I've spoken to ex drivers of these companies. They have too many parcels in too little time. They're often self-employed, and they get fined if they bring any back. Glad to be out of it.

Too much for what's required for safe braking and too little for the hgv to get into." You can leave as much room as you fuckin want. A friend of mine worked for DPD for a few weeks. He said it was the worst place he had worked, they phoned him up constantly asking him to backtrack to collect packages from where he had already been, which made him late for the packages he was on his way to deliver before the time slot ran out. He was told to skip the next 10 or 20 time & time again, and do those at the end of his shift, making him late home by hours every day. Horrible, bullying environment, with no consideration for the stress of the drivers or their safety.

The fact we now have a dedicated DPD compilation series is proof enough that something needs to be done. The company needs to be held accountable and should face legal action and change their company guidelines, because drivers getting fined for making late deliveries encourages dangerous driving. And the excuse "they could just do another job that doesnt have so much pressure" is neither an answer or a solution because people are still willing to take the risks knowing the odds are against them.

The disabled drivers car was written off. the comment was probably made because I would assume that their car was set up for their particular needs. Which means a normal hire car might not be adequate for the driver so they could be without personal transport until the insurance claim is settled and a new car is adjusted to their needs. A long time to be inconvenienced for some other persons stupidity.

My daughter has a business and was expecting a 70 box delivery from her supplier on Thursday, it didn’t arrive. When she phoned DPD on Friday about the delivery, she was told that due to the weather (which is not her problem, nor her suppliers) it was running late and would be with her on that afternoon, no delivery. Then she was told Saturday by 2pm, no delivery. Then Monday, she was told 11am, no delivery. Then she was told by no later than 7 pm, guess , no delivery. After more phone calls from her and the supplier, another promise of no later than 5pm Tuesday, yes you are right, no delivery. It eventually arrived at 2pm Wednesday and apparently it was in the DPD location depot since Thursday. So DPD is going to be hit by a breach of contract, loss of earnings and compensation claim.

More shocking driving from DPD vans. The only one I have any sympathy for was the HGV driver (still poor driving). The cammer is sat in the middle lane doing around 50mph and with the HGV not being able to use the outside lane he has little option to get past. Really the cammer should have noticed the HGV aproching and moved to the inside lane before the HGV arrived. But even after the event he probably still bumbled along in the middle lane.

same speed as the truck in front leaving room, the speed the dpd truck is now going to be going until the truck infront finishes the pass that is actually holding him up. then if you drive a hgv and have any sense of honestly, youll likely know that the reason this actually happened was the dpd truck hit a downhill, then rolled above the limit while other people were passing within the limit. and got back up on the left before anyone could get a safe few seconds ahead of what turned out to be, a driver willing to crash to save seconds

We have two suppliers who insist on putting large, heavy items in cardboard boxes: one is large sacks of potatoes, and the other is 15kg bags of dry dog food. These items don't lend themselves to solid packaging, and the cardboard boxes are almost impossible to handle, so they end up getting mushed. It would make a lot more sense for these retailers to simply stick shipping labels on the sacks, which would be a lot more easy to handle. For this reason I have some sympathy for the delivery drivers... but only for having to deal with poor packaging, not with the driving antics shown here

I totally agree that the driving on these clips is bloody awful, but the common link is the company. The drivers are on such tight schedules and take risks - just to keep the shareholders happy. Maybe these companies should be prevented from piling as much as possible onto drivers. Just a thought!

But I was looking at a DPD van parked outside of the building I was working at. It was damaged parcel when I got it so I’m not sure what DPD stands for but it should be donut plonker dumbbell

@@Deiseboi I most certainly do understand. I'm in the same boat, on the opposite side of the planet. 👍 Definitely NOT a courier of any kind. My previous comment was to highlight the similarities between the nuts driving big vans & the nuts towing things they really shouldn't. We have similar issues here. There's a very large number of caravans & trailers being towed by completely unskilled "drivers" & motorhomes being driven by those with a car licence. None professionally trained. Some of us have to regularly jump through burning hoops (for various reasons, as you're very familiar with) while there's no training, no checks of any kind for the rest of them.

I'm not defending the dpd drivers as they are simply wrong here. However if you will take into consideration the fact that they have a literally 1 minute to deliver the parcel it does change the perception a bit. I've been one of the dpd drivers for a while and it was a horrible experience. On the depot for 7am, finishing often after 9pm for really shitty money - £1 for successfully delivered stop(not parcel). The problem is in the roots and ethos of that company.
