Good morning and congrats on moving to Idaho! We are a New Hampshire working farm family. Grass fed beef, haying and logging. New to your channel and will follow with interest. Your timing couldn't be better. Spring brings the good weather and we are grateful to be living in shelter on 350 acres. How many acres did you purchase? The scenery is stunning! We have smaller mountains and lakes in our "back yard". Jim and I built a farm cottage at the base of our family farm in 2016. There was a draught that year. Our new artesian well only pulled 2 gallons a minute, but enough for us. Never ran out... That year 3 of the 5 dug wells on the main farm went dry! Camping is an adventure you will talk about for years to come.

Exciting adventures of Off Grid in freezing temps. Looks like a water freeze break. It is amazing how water will find a place to collect and freeze even when you think you drained it. A good early lesson of life in the cold. Jeremy will need to learn how to use air pressure to blow out fittings and lines that get exposed to freezing temps. We arrived at our cabin for our first Christmas with water gushing everywhere when our heater failed. Remember, you have an uninvited guest at your new home. His name is Murphy. He has his own set of laws. I spent a couple years Murphy proofing my cabin. It's just a continual part of the life. You get a break until June 30 to get Idaho license plates in Bonners Ferry. Putting plates on everything is that final step. A long coil of black poly pipe on the pole barn roof can make a solar water heater for warm showers.

So refreshing and enjoy watching...my happy dances, laughter, joy, jumping up and down...you guys got it all! Oh, I can feel the stress over the busted water pump...when we were moving up to our place in N.E. Texas...we had lots of unexpected OMG's...one was the electrician we had to hire to wire our mobile home to the power box...dealer did not do it...and Pete thought he could but not sure...I said..electricity...we ain't playing...it was a 1,000.00 dollar nightmare that took two weeks to get electric...we stayed in our LQ horse trailer for those two weeks...and we said a lot of bad words...I cried...hubby just walked down to the ponds...totally get it and boy you guys sure held it together! Glad you guys got settled in a little more, and then jury-rigged a solution to a new problem that appeared... I wish I could say that's the last time something like that will happen - but we all know better! Hopefully your cabin pump will hang together long enough until the replacement arrives; I'd think about still spacing out your showers and water usage until then, to reduce the stress on the jury-rig. Here's a question: have you guys considered eventually setting up a cistern someplace between where your house will be, and the barn - as a backup to the well? With 6 people, you can get a 1,000 gallon tank that the well can keep full as a backup to any problems with the pump, that's buried deep enough to withstand the winter months (but not too deep that the water crumples the tank, or that it's too deep to get to - in case you have to work on it)... but available as a secondary water source. Might be something to consider!

If all else fails rig up a solar shower with a wire ring around it and get er done. Yes it is discouraging when everything seems to turn to caca, BUT you found a solution. Good Job. in fact rig up a tote and paint it black to ease some of the wear and tear on the water system in the buggy. use it for dishes and all kinds of things this summer.

Could have hooked the hose coming off the well to the discharge hose that broke off and maintained running water till you get a new electric pump, only downside is you would need someone at the well spigot to turn the water on and off so you dont blow out seals inside the coach.....ask me how I know... Being no stranger to "Embrace the Suck" many times over. Hope this helps out for future reference.

I'm not sure what the name of the plastic weld stuff we used but was something like what you showed, we had to cut a piece off, do like with play dough, soften it up in your hands, slapped it and it worked great, no leaks and we found when we went to tear it out to change the pipes, it stayed together...nice job of Macgyvering...I'm enjoying your adventure, stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep warm and dry

Can I suggest you build a stand to put one of those totes on up in the rafters and hook that to the camper. You will have gravity feed and will only need to power a pump when filling the tote. For hot water you can get a large black tank and put it on the roof of the shed and the sun will heat the water. I see that all over in Mexico.

Loving this channel and watching you folks following your dreams. I have a travel trailer too. Just hook up your hose to the city water hookup and you wont need the pump. Also, get a pressure reducer on the incoming water line so you dont blow out any internal plumbing.
