Unboxing 2017 BMW M3 - Still The Best Performance Sedan After 30 Years

For today's unboxing review we have for you the 2017 BMW M3. A lot of you have been requesting this review and finally got around to doing it, so let's get started. This is the fifth generation M3, which launched for 2014. Power comes from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 444 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Now, the "base" M3 produces 425 hp, but our tester came equipped with the $4,750 Competition Package which, along with the power boost, features some styling upgrades and the Adaptive M Suspension system. Yes, it's totally worth the extra money. But unlike previous generation M3s, this one is sold only as a sedan; it's coupe and convertible counterparts are now branded as the M4.
What we love about the M3 is that it can serve as an excellent daily driver, has enough space in the back for the kids, and will be more than happy to tag along to a weekend track event. Performance? Try 0-60 mph in a mere 3.9 seconds, the standing quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 163 mph, and a top speed of 163 mph. There's also no mistaking this is an M3, due to a total of 67 M badges scattered throughout the car inside and out. What more do you need to know about this iconic model? Simply check out the review. Loving the way you reviewed this but why do people always compare this to an Audi or a Mercedes, if I wanted an Audi or a Mercedes, i'd buy one!!! Dated interior, possibly if you are comparing it to a newer release Audi but if you are coming from a car 5 years old, then of course it isn't. Need some perspective on this but I liked your video nonetheless.

2014 the 3 series was released, we have the newer C Class Merc and Audi A4, of course they are going to more modern but that doesn't detract from the exterior! The C Class is the ugliest thing I have ever seen, I honestly don't give a damn how luxurious the interior is when you are not sure which is the front, and which is the back! The Audi, well they are and always have been at the back of the line. Subjective I know but the M3 for me, everytime.

Wow what a fail of a spec it doesn't have the full led headlight option why would you get pretty much every other option but not the leds which are a must have imo its one of the things that sets it apart from the standard 3 series .

wrong.. the LEDs are available on the regular 3 and 4 series. Also, at $2K, the LEDs are a waste of money IMO. i would equip car the car exactly as is with the exception of the competition package. i prefer the look of the 19s and wont be tracking the car anyway

+Omar Mubarak full leds were not available on pre LCI f30s they were added for the refresh(LCI)with the updated signature DRLS but previous to that full leds were not available halogens were standard, xenons was the only option on standard 3 series, I also never said anything about the m4/ 4 series you are correct leds were a option but that's because the 4 series is supposed to more up market so xenons were standard full LEDs were a option.... Full LEDs will be standard on 2018 m3 and m4s when it gets its refresh pictures were released in my opinion that's good xenons are a old technology makes the car look updated.

BMW, nice german product. I got one question and i´d love to know your opinion: Because I am a Lexus fan, I have heard that Lexus and BMW are working together in order to make the next Lexus LFA (successor). Is that right or just a rumor?

Wow, that is interesting. Well, here's the thing: BMW and Toyota have already jointly developed the next generation BMW Z5 and Toyota Supra. Same platform, many shared components, but different engines. Major cost savings for both automakers. So if the BMW-Toyota relationship is still going strong then it's entirely possible a future LFA successor could be in the cards. The LFA itself took 10 years, I believe, to develop, so Toyota will likely once again take its time. Thank you for answering. I know about the Supra, great car although the design does not attracts me and yes, probably they will take another 10 years to develop some like the LFA. The LC 500 looks promissing, I´ve already heard that V8 and its gorgeous, thats the beauty of N/A. The design is excellent also. What I am looking for is the base price, because in my opinion I think Lexus is a little bit absurd about it.

I love this car, but If you are going to option this thing up to 90K, then you might as well go for the RS7 which most dealers will work down to 100k offer a 0-60 in 3.4-3.7 and sound a whole hell of a lot better. Look up RS7 with straight pipes. End of story.

Plenty of dealers across the country are pushing these down to low - mid 90s for the previous model year. I would build a porsche or BMW to order. If I was going to go RS7 or GTR I would have to go past model year and find one thats sitting on a lot.. just do some research and you find plenty. Granted, add an extra 1-2k to ship it.

The RS7 is a completely different animal, namely in size. Part of the M3 appeal for me is its power and luxury in a diminutive frame. The RS7 is far from small. But, it's a good suggestion nonetheless. If I wasn't concerned with size, I would probably go for the Cadillac CTS-V over an RS7.

The M3 is an amazing sports sedan. Unfortunately, the C63 AMG is not only one step ahead of the M3/4, but it's a good 10 steps ahead of it. Especially in the interior department.

No your mistaken he is right its f80....the f30 is the chassis code for the standard 3 series , the car in the video is the m3 which this generation was given its own code thus being referred to as the f80. Before this generation they always shared the same code between the m version and the standard version.
