Unboxing the XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro pen display

I have bought this tablet, and one thing I must say is it's absolute gorgeous. Here's some of my additional experience with it: Out of the box the color is too much saturated, you might want to tune the color a bit, in my case is RGB 50 49 49 in the XP-pen software display setting. Secondly, the screen can be powered by just your computer! Meaning this could be a portable device along with, say your laptop with no need for wall power plug. And lastly, unfortunately this tablet have a serious problem with parallax when you tilt the pen! And the screen is pretty slippery too, hope XP pen will release a better screen protector or flex nibs in the future.

I'd like to know whether the tablet is laggy or not. It has 200 report rate according to their website. That's less than their previous model and other competitors. They have 266 RPS. Your video made me want to buy the product already though!

The problem with alternatives always comes down to "It Works Well" but not Perfectly like wacom, one example of this is if you have multiple displays, I have a laptop and 2 displays and an XP pen Artist 16 pro and it gave me lots of problems that i dont know if XP pen will ever fix, so I ended up with a wacom cintiq 16 which just works with my current setup perfectly no glitch thing, nothing it just works and thats whats important.

My laptop has a resolution of 1280 x 800 - an old compaq 6730b. Would it display okay on the artist pro 15.6 ? Would it look smaller or fuzzy given the artist pro is 1920 x 1080 ?

It’s 1080P so you will be able to see the pixels. But it’s a fine resolution to work with

It is very interesting that Cintiq alternatives are so much better now. And so Wacom has released a more affordable Cintiq 16 to get into the price bracket of XP-Pen, Huion, Artisul, etc.

This is not as bulky as the previous generation. This is as thick as typical laptops, or even thinner.

We are setting this one up right now but my husband seems to have problems with installation on laptop, windows 10. Instructions not clear? The set up menu looks different than in the instructions, completely different. It looks better, but very different. Certain buttons, etc, are not where the instructions say, they should be, icons look different, and so on. Do you happen to have any idea why this would be? Is the manual not updated? The menu that comes up on the lap top looks more modern and layout is different than in the instructions.

It's mostly the design and features. Pen drawing performance is slightly better with the newer model but you can't tell unless you have two side by side to compare.

It really comes down to this....which one of these companies,...Huion, XP Pen, Parblo, Ugee, Artisul (fill in the blank) will come out with the 4K display first?! I think (just my own opinion of course) it's what most of us are waiting for.

@@teohyc Teoh,..I agree with you, but they will still be well under the cost of say a Wacom Pro 24 or even the Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 16 I'm not saying they drop their non 4K offerings but man,..if they are going to compete, they need to jump in the 4K arena with at least 1 model. All I'm seeing now are different models with not very much to distinguish them from their other offerings except perhaps screen size. It's getting redundant.

1080P is still a pretty usable resolution. Works fine with 22 inch screen.

The matte screen protector diffuses light and reflection. If there is strong light source, there will be a white glaze over the screen, which is very typical of such screen protectors. There is left handed mode. My full review is coming out very soon, on three days time.

Is there a way to calibrate the colors without a colorimeter? Because at the moment i can only afford the tablet and the warranty. I am an artist that uses color accuracy when drawing anime characters in clip studio and modeling characters in zbrush game art.

It will be difficult to colour calibrate by eye because you will need a reference, eg a print out. Generally speaking colours from such units should look fine. You can save up for a year before you get a colour calibrator

@@RuneQueen I'm using Spyder5Pro. It's good. There's a newer model out. You can just get the older model since the main colour calibrating feature is similar. Check out the reviews on Amazon

Can u tell me please either I shoud choose xppen artist 15.3 or 13.3 inch ? Do both have the same pros and cons ? I thought about it and chose 13.3 insh because it will be more portable and won't make me move my arms alot as 15.3 inches, but I am worried if it has more technical cons than 15.3 inches 🥺

It's just the size difference. If you have the budget, I actually recommend the 15 inch as it's a more comfortable size to work with. You can cut out some paper to size and compare. Both are very portable. The 15-inch is still lighter than 15-inch laptops.

I purchased the 15.6 inch, I thought about since I uase adobe animat , the tool bar and timeline will take huge space from the work space , I am from Egypt and my sister currently in germany, so I made her purchase it for me ! The thing is its so much cheaper on amazon germany (339 euros)than in Egypt (400 euros)since the customs is so heigh . Luckly I didn't hurry in my decision and checked the XP-PEN site in Europe , I foud they are celebrating the 17th anniversary and every thing is on HUGE sale + great deals , I purchased it with only 260 euros + free warranty 12 month extension + mini free graphic tablet + shipping free😭♥️♥️ the deal ends in 27 hours if any one want to buy it 😂♥️

The only thing there it doesn't come with a screen protector so I have to buy it separately(I can't complain about that of course😂)I have found a protector on amazon , and I want to know do I have to use one with anti glare protection ? Or anti scratch protection is enough so the the anti glare one doesn't affect the color accuracy?

How much does the tablet weigh ? Pls i need to know it. I bought one and i also got a tracking number. I typed it in the track thing and on monday it said the package weighs 3.51 kg and then i cheked today and it said it weighs 3.49 kg... Im somewhat worried that its going to arrive and theres just no drawing monitor in it.....

Why do you need to know? The weight can vary depending on what (brown) packaging box they use to house the actual packaging box.

So it still uses a matte screen protector... I hate these things. They scratch so easily and they are hard to exchange/apply. The one on my artist 15.6 is so scratched already (just by drawing on it with the pen), that everything on the screen looks washed out and far from crisp anymore.

@@gimax4689 I’ve had both, I had some issues with the kamvas pro 16. Although it feels nicer design wise the xp pen has more positive things about it. For instance the red dial , the extra keys. Also the I forgot which one didn’t have tilt for the pen but I remember it bothering me a lot. I suggest a tablet with tilt capabilities at the least.

I am very upset as l had to send my 15.6 Pro back. If you are lefthanded or need the buttons on the left. Well it's not easy as they have you thinking. Rotation 180 in 3 easy steps. Yes the picture did flip. However the pen did not, yeah l don't get it either, l thought the screen sensed the pen and in was free of program... This isn't the case. Up was down, left was right. You could do it another way. Expand view, and have your laptop upside down but that means your start button is upside down... Personally l wanted prime 2, laptop off. The cable is to short if you want to do anything other than desk setup, forget it. You will have to but ha huh, this is bloody expensive if you want to use thunderbolt £189 to £296. No you can't use a type C extension, even though the plug is a type C. Nor thunderbolt 3. It's thick and unyielding, takes up 6cm from your laptop and 3 plugs. The calibration though easy, had to be done often. The wheel. It can't be used to zoom or rotation on sketchbook Pro 8.2, brush size only. It's meh to use, clicks are weak basically cheap feel. Button's are very spread out, so you will be sliding up and down a lot, l ended up moving my bars to my work area and using the screen buttons. So a waste of money in the end. Pen silicone stretched and kept sliding over the collar. If you are a light pressure artist like me you are going to hate this, it's better as the driver was updated, and sketchbook had a helpful hard, soft slider as well, but still it wasn't soft enough. But usable in the end. All these complaints have been sent to XP PEN over 11 days. Yes 11 long days. All assistance is in China and their English is very much broken, be ready to send in videos to back up your issue, and then they are pretty much useless. 2hrs he had remote control of my laptop which is brand new and it was like watching a toddler work out shapes to put in the holes. 40 minutes it took to do what I didn't want, it took me 9 minutes to do that and l don't have a clue, windows 10 wasn't out when I left Microsoft for android. It was rough, and l'm glad it is over. Just be aware of the truth before you buy.

Thank you for another great review, Teoh! The XP-Pen tablets seem to be pretty good if you are on a budget, and the quality is not bad. But as always, unfortunately, you get what you pay for and these are far from Wacom quality. I have seen many reviews where the XP-Pen screen died after only one or two month of normal use. But for beginners or again, if you are on a budget, these seem to be doing the job.

Yeah bro thats the thing with this alternatives, they work well sometimes and othertimes they dont, its a hit and miss, the one i have is the XP Pen Artist 16 pro and it doesnt work properly. The thing is when i asked Lisa from mobiletechreview this XP Pen 400 USD vs the 650 USD Wacom Cintiq, plain and simple she recommended the Wacom just for its longivity and stable drivers and it works with how many displays you have in your computer.
