Thank you! But this kit is definitely not for beginners. You will need a minimum set of power tools! At least a rotary tool and a tablesaw. But I also used a milling machine, disk sander and thickness planner to process the extra Beech. To make the missing parts and replace the short planks from the kit...

This is a really high quality kit. All parts are made of wood and laser cut... P.S. for a smaller kit of shallop, delivery to the US was less than $40. Unfortunately, I won't tell you how much the shipping cost for this kit because it came together with another...

Thank you very much! I am still thinking about what details can be added and modernized the model. But it is very difficult when the kit is already detailed to the smallest detail. I'm thinking of adding Viking figures. It would be ideal to find Viking women. Because archaeologists unearthed the burials of 2 women on this ship. Presumably this was their ship to survey their lands and possessions...

I just received the San Bartolome. But sadly they were unable to ship the plans but promise me they will ship them as soon as they are able. As I have been looking into getting a laser cutter for myself, I can tell you that the cuts on those parts are high-speed and low drag; hugely impressive. That will be a fascinating kit to see you build. If only to see how they engineered the making up of the hull.

Yes, I really like the laser cut quality, absolutely no charring. You can wipe off all those brown cutting marks with rubbing alcohol or wash it off with hot water... I'll finish the Carrack first before starting a new model...

@@OlhaBatchvarov Maybe for some people, who has enough time for it. My last model was a viking ship ( the new sergal kit) but it took me 6 months to build it. I am working as a sales manager and not every day have time to work on it. The online contest idea was according to support the manufacturer and leave enough time for many of us medelers to order and build the model till the end of this year. After readiness of each the modeler will share pictures of it and a team of judge can choose the winner. ONLY an idea. In the past I was organizer and judge of many model contest in Hungary.

Looks, like a great kit, as usual. But what jumped out in it for me - are the shields. Seems, like they are a bit overengineered: they would've been covered with hardened leather on the outside, where the decoration is. So, the planking wouldn't be visible on the same side, as the decor. It should only be on the inner surface of the shield.

@@OlhaBatchvarov Actually, after some research, I stand corrected: the variant from the kit is plausible, but it would be a cheapest possible variant. It would only have leather "tire" (made of short leather flaps) around the edge, attached with iron nails. The better version would be lined with several layers of oil-soaked linen with one-piece leather tire, the best version would be lined with cow hide hardened leather and iron tire around the edge.

I always enjoy watching a good unboxing video of anything that excites me such as this Viking ship. As a plastic scale modeler wanting to venture into wood ship modeling, would you say this would be a good kit for the beginner wood modeler? I hope this will be on your list of builds and soon. If you are not intimidated by the size of the model, this is a nice enough model for a beginner. With minimal manual processing of the parts, because they are all laser cut here...

I build models in several media types. The quality of Nikitin kits are outstanding. what I would suggest is to try one of the small boats that are available from Nikitin.. They should be a quick build and require all of the basic skills used in ship modeling.

@@jimnunn9232 Thank you. I was thinking that the Viking ship only having a single mast and limiting rigging would be good. And by golly it just looks good too. Another source of quality wood kits are said to be OcCre kits. The Polaris kit is one recommended for beginners, but watching the build videos on it, it seems still a little complex to me. I am looking to get a kit in a month or so. Right now I have a large scale plastic kit from Revell of a Spanish Galleon that I am getting ready to build.

HI! Very much inspired by your channel and previous videos on the kits from Pavel Niktin, I bought this kit last August. I notice some differences between your kit and mine, which may be of interest to others. I dug out my kit to see which serial number I had (you have #1), but the first difference I notice is that there is no serialized name plate in my kit. Other obvious differences include: the MDF jig has been deleted, the masts are not precut, just round dovels, the parts layout is different. Bigger and fewer sheets of wood with more parts on them. All shields are on the same sheet, with no "fancy" markings (the boards are engraved and nails simulated though). The box with ropes and fittings has been replaced with a zip bag. Other than that, my kit looks pretty much the same, and still looks like a beauty in the box. What it will look like after I've messed around with it, is another matter :D I trust that the changes in the kit have been made out of necessity given the near impossible conditions they run their business. I've ordered kits from them twice, and will not stop being impressed with the quality and speed of service!

It seems that you are talking about a kit produced by the Korabel store. It's a long story. In a nutshell: Korabel tried to create a kit for 6-7 years and OSEBERG came in, which no one could put together, so they had to hire a professional modeler to build a model. Then they decided to ask for Pavel's help. But Pavlo was disappointed that changes were made to his project to make the kit cheaper, such as plywood parts or simply round blanks for the rigging. All this ended with the fact that Pavlo created his own manufacturing and decided to make perfect kits himself...

@Arild Moland, looks like you have bought the first version of Pavel's kit. The updated version arrived in the store in early November 2022 But the fact that you bought it through Pavel's web shop means that it is definitely not the early one, produced by "Korabel", which is good :)

@@rostyslavskoroplyas2696 I've now made a more thorough comparison between my kit and Olha's, and they're pretty much identical save for the above mentioned differences. The seats seem to have been slightly redesigned, and the shield center bulbs are laser cut in mine, not 3D printed. Also, I see in the video that the frame ends are separate, which they are not in my kit. And I noticed a small PE fret in the video that I can't find. At any rate I rest assured that I'm not missing out on the good stuff, and look forward to Olha's videos on this kit! :)

The Oseberg drakkar, as seen in the photos on the site, has details such as barrels and rudders that are not in the kit. Where is it possible to obtain the shape and size of these accessories? Where is it possible to find the figures you see? What colors were used? Thanks

The rudder is included - it is an integral part of the ship. The rest is up to the modeler. The kit is designed to be completely wooden or the modeler can paint the model if desired. Barrel, sold separately in the store. Figures and paint are not included.

I’m planning on sewing the panels and edges of the sails ( I will not cut and sew the individual panels but just sew the panels on the provided lines, add by sewing on the corner reinforce sections on both sides, and sew the rope bolt to the edges…. В нас дуже багато зараз приватних компаній які ріжуть лазером буквально все. Я навіть колись замовлаля лазерну різку латуні (але це рідкішніший матеріал ніж фанера чи МДФ). Вам краще загуглити і знайти місцеву компанію поблизу. І перш ніж відправляти креслення, поцікавтеся розміром похибки (лазер не рііже 90 градусів кут, це похибка призми) Бо якщр ви підготуєте креслення без урахування похибки,то ваші деталі розсиплються і не триматимуться купи. Я зазвичай робила креслення з запасом 0,3 мм на зріз лазером... Але може бути від 0,2 до 0,5 в залежності від лазера і налаштувань.

Интересный выбор прототипа для кита. Билдинг боат выпускал аналогичную модель, правда гораздо более упрощенную. Нот зато дешевая была. И носовое и кормовое украшение лучше фрезеровкой делать, чтобы избежать пережога.

Тут масштаб крупний - есть где разогнаться. А после качественной лазеоной резки коричневую смолу можно смить тьоплой водой или спиртом. А тут настолько тонко нарезано без пережегов, что при желании можно смить смолу без проблем...

@@OlhaBatchvarov Я имел в виду завиток, где технологически без сжигания материала не сделаешь. В остальном применение лазерной резки идеально.

@@PavelNikitinShips Павел, я все прекрасно понимаю. Однако, я также прекрасно понимаю что ничего невозможного в мире нет. Война войной, а бизнес это бизнес. И всегда можно что-нибудь придумать. К примеру, торговля через третью страну. Это вот первое что мне приходит в голову. На самом деле тут все упирается во-первых в ваше отношение к происходящему в мире, во-вторых от моего доверия к вам как к продавцу из, скажем так, не дружественной страны и в третьих, если первые два пункта положительные, от той наценки которая будет сверху.
