Most small and med businesses will probably be gone not long from now and the rest will be nationalized. You can thank CV for that, uh hum, excuse me. So, it would be wierd for the gov to lobby a candidate, right? Right. Not that candidates can't make money from these companies in other ways, but lobbying, no. Neil Gorsuch cannot claim to perceive the world the same as James Madison and thus extrapolate meaning of the laws. Language and philosophical views evolve over time. We cannot go back to 1789. (I assume that my numbers might be of a bit but hopefully not by orders of magnitude) Prevention, as it were, would be through, integration and understanding of your new Muslim neighbors. Given that we in Sweden have accepted about million refugees in modern times, with some from the middle East, I don't really see the problem of immigration. Adding to the fact that the USA has historically been an leading military force in the region, but not beeing accountable the the resulting emigration is ... wierd. 2. It makes me sad to hear that the humanitarian act of immigration is misunderstood as corruption. I find it more corrupt that lobbying is allowed at the extent that it is in the US. We give grants to our political parties so that they can separerade themself from special interests. Again adding a 2/400 part Muslim to a population over two years, is not a flooding, at best a drip into a bathtub. Very easily some of what was proposed is part of socialistic ideas, some of it is bribery while the rest removes a person's freedom of choice. Maybe you should actually listen to and understand what Douglas and the other clown say. Also you should educated yourself on the US Constitution the amendments. Going to give an example. In the video Douglas talks about states passing election laws that will also affect the federal elections, well under the Constitution and amendments the founding fathers specifically put in place that no state shall make laws that violate federal laws which include election laws. Any state that passes a law that violates federal election laws is in direct violation of the US Constitution and the Amendments and also a violation of a person's civil rights.
@catejones38435 жыл бұрын
@@fbi805 where is the bribery? And they are not suggesting a socialist government. The goal of this video is to inform Americans so we can get back our democracy. Your response sounds angry and that's how most Americans feel these days. Like in the video, we need representatives who work together to get things done. I have not read the entire constitution so I have no rebuttal to your statement about it being unconstitutional. However they are correct about if state governments all pass something it ends up getting done on a federal level. I think the video shows an enlightened perspective. One without bias and simply wants to make our government more effective.
@fbi8055 жыл бұрын
@@catejones3843 really if you don't know what bribery is you shouldn't be making comments. The fact that they mention giving people tax breaks for voting is in and of itself a bribery, they are basically saying you will get this if you do this and in some way it could also be considered extortion instead of bribery. You need to educate yourself about the laws in this country. Extortion and bribery are illegal

@@fbi805 Giving tax breaks to voters would help everyone, giving people that might not usually vote an incentive to get involved politically. He wouldn’t risk losing his freedom dividend for months or years over a $200 score. People don’t commit crimes because of boredom, but rather because of struggles. changing voting age to 21 would have ZERO impact on what candidates appear on the ballot, or on the debates. Vetted candidates like Trump, Hillary, Obama, Butigig, Harris, Rubio, Biden, etc, etc, are permitted, on t.v., candidates who would work for Americans, are not allowed to have much air time on t.v., and never during peak hours. So voting age changes nothing, the difference between a 21 and 18 year old, is that the latter still has to find someone three years older (minimum), to pick up alcohol.

In this excellent video, you ask at the end, “How do we fix it?” I’ve been thinking about your question, and I have some ideas: • To revert to “per diem pay” for public servants (instead of salaries). • Set annual goals for priorities to be addressed. • Tie pay rates to the achievement of goals by evaluations of performance and results. • Set a limit of 18 years on all public service careers (including jobs in gov’t agencies). • Streamline all gov’t agencies (and eliminate as many as possible). • Sell the real estate of many gov’t buildings to help pay down astronomical deficit/debt. . • Require that regulations generated by any remaining government agencies be processed into law via the House and Senate (the Legislative Branch). Now I ask, “How do we get ideas like this to HAPPEN?” Maybe the principle of say no by giving no dough. A taxpayer revolt?

We need to dig deep into the dialectics of the society and the institutions that are it's pillars. Corporatization, individualization, social indifference, political illiteracy, capitalism and what it actually is and what it's goals are. How can we make a better world when most people don't understand the one we live in. We need to understand the system and how it benefits and harms us to be able to create a more equitable and societally conscious relationship between government and citizens. Some good thinking yet decriminalizing opioids (including heroin) for personal use and his support for a carbon tax and bringing the U.S. back into the Paris Climate Agreement too Un-American for my way of thinking.

This is great! I bet Andrew Yang would fully support! He has a similar policy for all seven of these! He similarly diagnosed the problem, provides the same solutions (+UBI), and is galvanizing a non partisan coalition of progressives, conservatives and independents, I.e. the YangGang 😎

There's just one change, at first, that the US needs: a proportional representation system. Then there should be a law that forbids the Senat to make bills and have them do what they should; checking bills passed from the House of Representatives on the constitution. And after that start working on building better education, affordable healthcare, better infrastructure, rebuilding cities, creating real jobs (not sending people to war or building another prison), improving public transport...

simply put, more money for campaign, more advertising, more likely to be elected, the rich campaign providers voice carry more weight and gain power and influence. The resulting government formed is of the people, by the people but not for the people. This is a vicious cycle that will eventually widen the gap of the rich from the poor. The Cancer of Democracy.

More specifically: American democracy. Many of these issues are simply astounding to people in other democracies. How much US politics can be flooded with money. And how much money is required for campaigns. America is huge, but still. There is no other nation as individualistic (read: selfish) and capitalistic (same thing essentially) and it has corrupted government, weakened unions etc. And why are candidates not on public TV, where each gets a fair share of time? In my nation, we have our complaints too of course, but compared to the US...

I added my email. Some of the solutions suggested are good, some will be co-opted by the bad guys and one is particularly bone-headed. Yes, we need to work on the issues, but we need to enact REAL solutions that WILL solve the problems. Take one issue -- money. The suggested solution was to outlaw lobbyists contribution to campaigns. I'll see that prohibition and raise you to: "Only those who can vote for a candidate are allowed to donate to the campaign." No contributions from other states, no unions donations, no corporations. The fellow who runs for congress (or city council) can only get money from individuals in their discrict -- those who can vote for him/her.
