Started DrawABox exactly 70 days ago. You can tell Uncomfortable has true passion in trying to lead his community of artist into the correct direction. This exercise is merely a single hurdle among many. Now let’s draw some boxes 📦.

If you're in the middle of the challenge and are confused about having missed the need to separate the first 50, second 50, and remaining 150, don't worry! It's a new change to the challenge as of early 2024 and if you started beforehand you don't need to follow that bit.

Going back to this video after a month of not doing boxes. I'm on my 150th box (I try to do about 10 boxes maximum a day) and for the life of me, my brain for some reason, cannot process imagining the vp off the page. Because ALWAYS by accident (especially in rapid convergence) the lines converge to quickly, or just right at the end and I don't know how to fix it because I correct myself and then I'm like "ok I see what I did wrong, the lines are to close etc" and then I just do it again, i dont get it. I'll try to get back to the grind again of doing boxes but if I keep doing this mistake I don't know how badly this will effect me when I do future lessons, or just drawing in general.

I finds it kind of uneasy to completely focus on this challenge for 1 month or so, so can i continue with the lesson no.2 while i keep making boxes for this challenge as a side quest ? Or does this challenge servers as a foundation for lesson 2 ?
@Uncomfortable8 ай бұрын
We do feel it's best that students complete the box challenge before moving onto Lesson 2. Just be sure to balance it with the 50% rule, as spending all of your time drawing boxes would indeed be pretty mind-numbing.
@dheerajchourey3338 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply, i really appreciate that you and your team tries to give its best maintain quality content, even though only 20 % of the students are continuing on these lessons.

do I need to start from the beginning? because I did finished the the lesson 0 and 1 back in February 2023, but it took soo long to get 2 people to let me go through to the next lesson, from days becoming weeks and then months later I already forgot about Drawabox.
@Uncomfortable8 ай бұрын
No, you don't have to start over. I would however recommend reviewing the lesson material (without redoing the homework) from Lesson 0 to fill in any gaps in your memory. Then spend some time focusing only on the exercises that would fall into your warmup pool - my usual rule of thumb is 1 week of those warmup exercises for every year you've been away. That said, when it comes to getting feedback, community critique is of course not reliable in terms of if and when you'll receive it - but the unofficial critique exchange program students run on our discord chat server (which was briefly mentioned in Lesson 0 where we discuss the various feedback options) helps a lot in improving that reliability.

Why not do this challenge first before doing any of the rotating boxes exercises? How can you do thise exercises if you dont even know how to sraw a box?
@Uncomfortable4 ай бұрын
We've found it to be very effective to use exercises like this to introduce students to a problem, and then to explore that problem further in the steps that follow. You can think of it as providing a compass to ensure that when students go through the box challenge, they're thinking about the problems we've introduced here (and which they've had practical experience facing, rather than just theoretical experience in having read about it), instead of interpreting the experience of the later exercises in whatever arbitrary direction. We do this with a number of things - another big one is the form intersections of Lesson 2, which rely heavily on the spatial reasoning skills this course as a whole seeks to train, and which we do so most of all through the constructional drawing exercises from lessons 3 through 7.

@@Uncomfortable On the 250 box challenge. Could I continue with the other lessons while working on the 250 boxes a little every day or must I finish the 250 box challenge first before moving on?
@Uncomfortable4 ай бұрын
@@machinayrequiem8596 We recommend that students finish the box challenge before moving onto Lesson 2, as it is a prerequisite for it. Just don't rush it, and be sure to balance things out with the 50% rule.
