This new format is mega! The longer podcasts with one guest ran dry for me once all the decent guests had been on. This short snappy on topic and frequent are the way forward. Also really like the new presenter and his style. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Loved the podcast - flows really well. Simon Davey - Lockstock as we knew him by was an incredible angler... First met him along with most of his local mates on the Waveney Valley lakes, and he was a fishing machine. As Damo said, he's attitude to procession was quite incredible, and caught so many big carp from around the country, he was truly a devastating angler and will be truly missed.

Loving this format. I would love to hear about people thought on different baiting scenarios. I prefer spodding but recently I have been doing some lighter fishing without my spod rod meaning I’m using throwing sticks and catapult for boilies only fishing. Would love to hear what baits the boys like using, if they still do boilies only fishing, or prefer the buffet setup I think a majority of anglers use.
@darrylclarkson17992 ай бұрын
Personally think in deep water a pop up is better as i think the carp in deep lakes get so used to a spod they take the bait on the drop??? Saw this happening in a nash video filmed with a drone.

Loving the format, be good to have u talk about backleads, when and where to use , can you use them in a bit a weed are flying backleads any good , i tend to use captive lbackleads so they not on line once fish on n less weight when playing but i use them all the time to stop rangles when playing fish near net, but could the affect my indication of bites by using them not in the right situations, be great to hear yourvthoughrs on this

Question for the next episode lads… Is there any way I can stop the crimped end section of the boom from catching in my net after I’ve unclipped the hooklength with a fish on before putting it in a sling to lift out as I’d rather unhook the fish on the bank rather than potentially damage the fish by trying to unhook it especially during the night whilst still in the net. I’ve clipped the tag end as short as possible and it still catches now and again. Cheers Paul
@carpNcoffee2 ай бұрын
Protect the main line with your nail and blob the tag end into the crimp to smooth it out. Might not stop it but will definitely help.
@stephenfeaver76222 ай бұрын
Roll some putty over it, then dip in the water for a minute to set it firm. It will be nice and smooth after.
@maraten122 ай бұрын
Maybe a bit of shrink tubing over the crimp just to cover the tag end and keep it all smooth

Guys can get your thoughts please? I’m fishing a lake that’s not often carp fished more pleasure and match style anglers, but has a good head of carp up to 35lb, weighed when it was netted 2 years ago, but has never been caught anywhere near this weight, the lake record is only 27lb and that was 7 years ago, but from the netting we know there’s at least 5 carp 30lb+ and at the time another 6 25lb+ The bottom is pretty much featureless, margins are 4ft and then it gently slopes down to 8-9ft, but with no obvious drop offs or shelves. The bottom is nearly entirely clay but the odd patch of silt but hard to find, sometimes I find a little bit of low lying silk weed but very little. It’s basically a clay bowl that’s about 4 acres. I’ve chosen this lake for a winter carp campaign as it’s a bit of an enigma to me and want to conquer it. Boilies seem to get no attention and can only be used as a hook bait. I’ve found Robin red and halibut pellets are the best hook baits, and also had fish on pink slow sinking corn. But I can’t seem to pick out the bigger fish. Any thoughts on how to approach it?
@TomWaterland2 ай бұрын
Great format, a real refreshing change. Questions were a bit “same old same old” how about being a bit more edgy like “what are your thoughts on spring loaded hooking systems, & would you use them?”
@scottgoddard84582 ай бұрын
My topic of conversation would be depth. I fish some really deep pits 20 to 30ft I know in the winter they fish really well in the depths however right now october still fairly mild I've noticed the deeper areas are fizzing up maybe on naturals my question would be what experiences have you had fishing deep areas in early autumn temperatures etc
@proanglingrecruitment2 ай бұрын
Good podcast. How about fishmeals in winter yes or no and winter baiting strategy on waters that ban naturals.

How would you tackle a four acres lake that had only 15 carp that is extremely silty/chody
@spikus19692 ай бұрын
Two subjects Long or short hooklinks With a few lakes being easier to get to by flying out with rods bivvy and bed chairs etc supplied how do you go about taking reels and terminal tackle etc
@evanhartshorne2 ай бұрын
Question for the next episode. Why do people back wind and not use the clutch? I get that years ago the clutches were pretty crap, but now those days are gone especially when some of the reels you use cost upwards of £600 each.
@kierancatterwell94032 ай бұрын
Playing off the clutch can cause line twist for certain types of line. I use Fluorocarbon and kept getting line twist when using the clutch. Started using the back wind method and I no longer get the line twist issue.

Mmmm I used to carp fish for about 15 years and never came across line twist and I was using braid and mono. I now lure fish where the reel and line (always braid) makes all the difference and again I never had an issue with line twist.

Talk about public lakes, how you would approach them with no known knowledge of the lake whether that’s stock, depth or location of them. I’m from america so that could be your base. We also deal with turtles a lot so any insight on how to combat that

With the comments about the under water films as said they are in perfect conditions which you rarely come across so what’s the point? as even the guys are Korda don’t use the same rigs after what’s shown or are the films more to give you an idea on how your rigs can be improved if your struggling?

Joined a new water early this year just went about my own fishing done 2 nights and a handful of days there's 2 lakes on the ticket I've had 2 of the biggest carp in both with very little time just going on what I'm seeing I'm not interested in all the this many wraps and this spot .. I think alot of people full into this way of fishing rather than reading the water .. would be nice to talk about walking around the lake rather than walking into the swim and wrapping up to the spot everyone else fishes water craft seams lost on alot of people who just fish like robots. . Be nice to get a perspective on your thoughts on this

Free speech is trying to be stepped on because it hurts feelings which is absolutely not what our country is about, but if you fly a different flag and shout that's OK. As a country we need to stand without any aggression to show that we want to take back our streets and to look after our own before others. We cannot continue to allow the borders to just be an open gate policy as it is crippling our country.
