When he’s passing the card to his right hand that’s going palm down he’s tossing the card toward him to fall below using his right hand to block point of view. The shirt is to help blend in with the card. GREAT sleight of hand.

The term "witch" is referring to a woman, not a man. Therefore, Shin is magically saved to being a sorcerer or warlock during that time period considering working for a King in high regard. There's no history about a sorcerer/warlock being burned or killed unless he's an idiot conteplemting a scheme to put himself into power/position.
