Tbh Russ has lost a good deal of athleticism over the yrs. That's probably a byproduct of being older. Plus the transition to a role player I think mentally he was clearly resistant to esp with the Lakers when being the star PG, your weaknesses are magnified 🔎 playing with Lebron. He's come to terms with that with the clippers because of their roster. I'm shocked his shooting regressed to the level it has but I think it's the decline of athleticism. He still goes hard in the paint but he can't rise above the rim for dunks the same way, and russ for all his energy knew how to play one way. His playmaking wasn't elite and his D was only ok thru his career.

Russ problem is he was so much faster than everybody so now his athleticism has slowed a bit he’s still trying to be faster than dudes who are faster at their age now. He needs to slow the game down and the triple doubles will come easy. He overworked for them in the pass so Steven Adams and dudes let him rebound because his pace determined the strategy at the time. Well on these new teams he wants to play fast on half court teams. His game seems uncomfortable half court style he’s basically ineffective out of transition. Russ needs to drive more and do that pull up J he used to do. Become like Rondo dice people up with your passing skills that will allow them to respect a part of your game. Rondo revamped his career like 3 different times throughout his career and was the reasons LA won the bubble title. Russ game has been built on speed and force so it’s hard to tell him to change something that worked for 10 years but todays game isn’t tailored for old ways your have to be innovative and quick to adjust. He occasionally hits those corner threes and late shot clocks 3s but he can survive without the 3 ball. It’s that middy pull up that stopped falling for him that hurts his game because now he’s one dimensional and tbh he’s starting to miss a lot of layups. With the lakers that’s why he was clowned relentlessly missed layups and crazy turnovers

For the past 5 seasons or so his athletic ability has been in sharp decline. Look at jordan. In the second 3 peat he didn't use his athletic ability as much to score. He developed a post up game and used that because he wasn't the same athlete anymore. Even someone like jason kidd. In his later years he became a good 3- point shooter when before he was a bad 3 point shooter. But at least westbrook plays and plays hard. @sammyslam18 ай бұрын
I think that might be a very strong possibility. I had it stronger had The Suns hired Coach Scotty Brooks but Coach Mike Budenholzer is also a head coach that wants a quick pace. Russ is one of the masters of leading high pace offense. I actually think it's The Clippers that should retain him and move away from James Harden but yes i agree, The Suns are a really good spot for Russ. You have efficient shooters in KD and D Book, which means Russ won't feel the pressure to score points at a high level and now Beal can be the team's high powered 6th man.... Another thing to consider is how KD and Beal see Russ as an inspirational figure, both had major success next to him... As a fan of his i would like to see him retire as either a Clipper or Thunder, but i do have Chicago, Miami, and Phoenix as spots that should consider Russell Westbrook as their starting pg.... His efficiency while not great, is much better when he is on the ball.

@@elvisfreshly5571 ....well he is already under contract for $2 mil but it's a player's option. The Suns are not allowed to begin discussions with players at the moment. I'm not sure when these dates kick in for players to opt in or out? I am expecting Russ to opt out, however his agent, once free agency begins, i think can start contacting teams on his behalf? Since The Suns are very limited cap-wise and can't offer a vet the MLE, what can happen between The Clippers and Suns is an agreed upon opt in for Russ at his $2 mil number, then a sign and trade deal to The Phoenix Suns. This is done with the agreement with The Suns that Russ is saying yes, only if he will be the starting point guard. That's sort of how The Clippers beat out The Bulls late last season, they promised Russ the starting job. Russ' agent can also get some guarantees from The Suns, which would then assume Russ' rights, that an extension would be in the works that basically ties KD, Beal, and Russ together. The Suns can only bump up his pay once he is a Sun, however they can only give him a slight bump in pay due to CBA rules, so this would not be a money play for Russ. It would be his willingness to play for $4-$6 mil each year to end his career. In other words, they are not allowed to bump him from $2 mil to say $8 or $12 mil.... If Russ opts out to become an unrestricted free agent, i'm not sure The Suns can compete, unless Russ wants to do another one year deal at the vet min as you suggested. I believe he would only do that if he is staying in LA.

He was unemployed for half a season after 2 abysmal years with the lakers.. and the clippers picked him up.. one of the most brain dead moves in nba history.. all those bricks and TOs took a toll on Kawhis knee.. it’s not even choking that’s harden and PG.. Westbrook is just bad at basketball.. he’s broken his last good year was 2019.. but even then he’s never really been a player you could win with..

He sucks. Ppl need to stop thinking he is an all great cause of the silly triple doubles.

Why try n get layups if u never get fouls. The refs been fucking russ for like 6-7 years now wit the no calls
@sammyslam18 ай бұрын
That's why you see him with an attitude on the court because Russ is like, "ok, let's play physical"...😂 Then they call fouls on him but won't reciprocate on the other end.... I think Russ can still help a team as their starting pg. Pts, rebounds, assists, and defense.....he can still score, can still rebound, is still an exceptional passer, and was rated one of the better defensive guards in the game this past season. I think he's far from washed. What he isn't, is an off the ball shooting guard, even though his off the ball game as a cutter/roller has improved. He is an on the ball point guard who no longer needs to have a high usage rate if he plays with two star level players.... The Clippers pg role was perfect for him. I think The Clippers made a mistake trading for James Harden.

It’s amazing watching today’s nba . These players have no idea how to play half court basketball. It’s 1 on 1 everywhere . Product is terrible

He’s in the decline…Westbrook has never been a high percentage scorer always low 40s n u add age n the offense not being ran thru him as well as his minutes touches n shots being decreased..it just comes with Father Time n the nba passing by u..he gotta change his game style

It’s not Westbrook. It’s kawhi makes them not to play the way they used to play. They need to hit rid of this guy. He always fake hurt during playoff

blame the lakers again they tried to make him a player he’s never been they messed up dwight howard back and rushed him back from surgery
@kevinconroy66068 ай бұрын
It’s age. He’s older, less explosive and he never developed a jumper or learn how to play the point guard role. Father Time is undefeated

That man made alot of nba money. He should just ride off into the sunset and enjoy his life. Thats my take. He been done for a while now. He can move but basketball skills have dimished and his iq was always the problem. 🤷🏿♂️. Thats why he didnt win with bron. And i really thought that could have worked at 1st. 😅
@7nawt78 ай бұрын
They lost. It happens. Perhaps, they suck at working together because they need more time. The NBA has a way of getting what it wants. They can have the entire media system come down on you, if they so choose. Meanwhile, players can not say anything, about the clear cheating from refs. Guys get tired of being used and the go to Europe to get paid and keep playing. Basketball is an addiction. Some guys just want to be around. Tenth year seniors.

westbrook was broken when he would shot more than KD on the Thunder, KD! one of the greatest scorers of all time....does westbrook impact winning basketball? it hasn't appeared that way, is he a winner for making his bball dreams come true yes

But KD has only gone to the finals with Steph and Russ. Clearly both Steph and Russ were just as important for KD, as he was for them.

@@sammyslam1 lol can't compare russ to steph...yeah and kd won finals mvp. the point is Russ didn't seem to want to be Robin to KDs Batman...Dallas was begging Russ to shoot 3s, nobody is implementing that Defense with Steph. Russ put up big numbers with OKC but his team didn't do shit

@@jamminj9554 ....WCF's and Finals is not doing s*"t? Do you know how many great point guards in nba history there are, that don't have championships? I suppose you think CP3 sucks as well? @@sammyslam1 you brought up other PGs not me, stockton knew his role was to get malone the ball, harden a way better scorer....my point is if westbrook knew what his role was maybe KD doesn't leave OKC...if westbrook was so amazing as you claim, why would KD leave him. When Russ had his own team, they went to the WCF and Finals???? hell no!!! stockton was that guy, iverson was that guy, harden was that guy. are you saying those OKC thunder teams got to the WCF and finals cause of westbrook? cause when Russ ran OKC as the guy they lost in the first round every year..sorry bro, but russ just ain't that dude....just like KLove in MN put up big numbers, but his teams didn't do shit....once he accepted being the 3rd wheel in CLE he won a chip.
