I have been doing alternate day fasting for 22 days. The first 10 days or so were super hard. Lots of cravings and I was thinking about eating constantly. But than I hit a point that I was going longer and longer before I felt like I wanted to eat. But now I am easily going 40 hours without eating. In the mean time I'm still feeding my kids and husband and not wanting what I'm making for them. I am eating the meals I want on my eat days, and ill have a piece of dessert if I want it. The only thing I feel like I have really changed at this point is I cut out all drinks and only drink water. I was a Pepsi addict, at least 3 cans a day. But I cut that out 3 months ago. And I cut out snacking on junk between meals. I have tried many diets before and have always failed. I have 100lbs to lose, and I made a deal with myself to lose it by my 40th birthday, which is exactly 1 year from today (Its my birthday🤗). I am happy to say that in those last 22 days I am currently down 18lbs, and feeling so motivated to succeed.

It works!!!! I think people new to this have to have the Scientific explanation of why it works. I have an obese friend that keeps trying to convince me that she hardly eats anything. But when I am around her she’s eating little bits all day long. She doesn’t understand that during the fasting period our body is lowering insulin and repairing many damaged cells and reducing toxins plus inflammation in our body. It was a game changer when I finally realized that myself. I have been an intermittent faster for three years now, have lost all of the extra weight, I am no longer prediabetic, I no longer have high cholesterol or triglycerides, all of my labs are in the normal ranges. I didn’t even change what I eat only when. Feeling blessed and healthy!! I’m 57 and feel better than I have in over 20 years!! 😍

Great motivation, and so to the point! I’m at Day 80, and 77 years old! Have lost 30 lbs. But best of all is the simplicity, freeing me to live my full life without worry. @@rosalie766 11 AM-4 PM, usually. I have done a later window, but evening eating tends to be less veggie-focused! I eat everything and drink wine, too…because I love to cook and socialize. Still learning. I admire those who are more disciplined, but so far this where I’m at. It’s great to have a sense of optimism about how and what to eat.

I am 66 and have been IF for several years and initially lost 28 lbs. more recently I found all these amazing people on KZbin and discovered more info about IF. I have lost 14lbs in the past 8 weeks but more importantly all my blood test were normal. That’s more important than anything else. I feel great, clothes look good on me especially as I try to dress, not young but modern. I generally fast from 6.30pm until at least 3pm the following day but some days I do 22 hours fasting. I eat low carb but not keto. I cook everything from scratch and eat lots of salads and vegetables but usually have a little treat after my evening meal but nothing to calorific or high in carbs. I don’t drink alcohol so that’s easier for me cos that can be a dealbreaker for some.

I have been intermittent fasting for 8 months now. I reversed type 2 diabetes I had for 25 years. At the beginning of the Pandemic I was convinced that Covid would kill me with all my health concerns. Well, earlier this week I tested positive. I've had very mild symptoms, more like a mild flu. I never expected that intermittent fasting would make such an improvement to my immune system. I believe these changes actually saved my life. "18 little slices" 🤣 I like how black and white I.F. is. That works for me too. No mental juggling. After I eat and feel so full, I actually look forward to feeling hungry again. (I never thought I'd say that.)😊
@1GoldenBreeze
@1GoldenBreeze 2 жыл бұрын
My story is a little different. Even as a kid I didn't eat breakfast so I.F. has always been a part of how I eat. I was never small but was at the top end of my healthy weight range most of the time. Sometimes I would go 5-10lbs into being overweight but would naturally drop back into a healthy weight. It wasn't until I lost the use of my legs and had to depend on using a wheelchair for mobility that I went into the overweight category and stayed there. I wasn't necessarily unhappy with my body, but I was unhappy with needing a larger size in clothing. When my 10-12's turned into 14's, 16's, and then 18's I didn't like it one bit, but I felt stuck. I discovered keto in 2017 and knew that it wasn't going to be a problem for me because I didn't eat a lot of carbs anyway so I didn't have to give up much. About 6wks into keto I found myself eating only one meal in 24 - 36hrs. My transition into ADF was relatively easy and I've never looked back. My weight went back down, but I still got hit with having to buy new clothes because I ended up settling in at a size 6. Thankfully I've been mostly weight stable since 2018.

Intermittent fasting comes so natural to me. Even though I love food... ALL food!!! LOL... I typically didn't stop to eat meals three times a day. I often skipped breakfast. When I'm focused on work, I hate to stop to eat. I often would say, "I didn't eat all day." But when I looked back, I did drink a lot of sugary calories and graze throughout the day. Now, I truly eat once a day, but this way of eating has made that a very mindful, intentional experience. I gravitate to nutrient dense foods that please my senses. I enjoy that meal so much. And I FEEL so much healthier! I'm off most of my medications. No more hot flashes or night sweats. And..... I am sleeping through the night for the first time in 23+ years!!!!

Omg, that is so funny! I usually eat from 4PM until 8PM. If by chance I throw anything, even a couple almonds in my mouth, then there is a cascade of eating that happens from that point. Eating causes more eating. However, if I don't eat anything until 4PM, I don't even think of food until that first bite. It's crazy how the mind works! When you spread a healthy amount of calories across three meals , all three meals are crushing disappointments lol but when you eat those same calories in 4 hour window are like a mountain of food. In those 4 hours, I eat like a teenager again. It is sooooo enjoyable and I'm holding my 40 lbs loss after 6 months. Magic!! Have a good day!!

OMG this is so on the spot. This was me before when we had cake or ice cream in the house. I'll just have a sliver, how many times have I said that and how many slivers did I have. Today I have ice cream in my freezer, believe me when I tell you that I could not keep ice cream in the house. A quart would be gone in 24 hours, I could constantly hear it calling me. Today there is a quart of ice cream in my freezer, not sure how long it has been there, close to two weeks. I've only had ice cream twice and I actually forget that it is in there. I don't even know how much is left because I guess my husband has eaten some. I don't feel as if food has a hold on me anymore, I choose when and what I eat, it's very liberating.

Jackie, as a person who has been IFing over 5 years, what you say is absolutely true. "0" is key. Anything other than "0" creates a different metabolic action. Anything other "0" is not fasting. And "0" is what makes IF easier than calorie counting. From looking at your arms, I can see you are still losing weight. (you do not need to lose weight), I hope you are appreciating the other benefits of IF.

Told myself all week "it's not my eating window" I did allow myself a small portioned serving of nuts around 2pm because my belly growls so loud patients would comment. Then nothing until dinner. Today there were bagels, pizza, cookies and cake. I said no to all of it, and was actually easier than I thought it would be. I've been intermittent fasting for over five years but when I would backslide I turned to OMAD, which worked for a couple weeks until it didn't. I've watched some of your videos lately and had a eureka moment, which I learnrned from you. And that is to keep track of when you open your window and when you close it, then tabulate the length of your fast. My window is usually no more than two hours, and I finally don't feel I have to eat everything at once! This is very freeing and the weight it coming off again. Thank you for your passion to drive your messages home.

Intermittent fasting (is it time?) paired with intuitive eating (am I full?) has taken the brain games down to nearly nothing. Also shortening my eating window to 5 hours and 2 meals has taken all the decision fatigue away as well. I only have to decide twice per day what and how much I'm going to eat and that is so freeing.

Absolutely truly enjoy this video and this channel. I am so addicted to food. Not good wholesome food. It’s processed and highly sugared highly chemical ect. I am one of those people who will open up my window and stuff my face for four hours with all the foods that I can’t have on a traditional diet. One day 70% of my food was dessert! So much so that every day I was feeling worse and worse and worse. Like a food hangover. I heard in one of your other videos that you just naturally don’t gravitate towards an oatmeal cream pie anymore! That’s why I’m sticking with intermittent fasting. I’m believing that eventually my body will change it’s addiction. I have to believe that. I’m also attempting to open up my window with wholesome healthy foods FIRST! Then trying to limit the dessert and junk food until the end of the window. Addiction is a real thing but I believe intermittent fasting is going to set me free. Thank you for all that you do!

I started Zero Monday 4/18/22 and this tool has been so helpful to say no to foods/beverages outside of my eating window. I look forward to the delayed gratification of that dessert when my eating window opens. I actually seem to eat less dessert. Instead of lets say eating all the cake throughout the day, it’s now a small portion, and I’m able to enjoy my chocolate cake for many, many, many more days. You sharing your realistic eating journey using IF to lose weight is so hopefully. I find pushing my fasting window from 16 to 18 to 20 hours is quite easy, because the ‘carrot’ dangling in front is the delicious and healthy foods I get to eat and also enjoying a respectable dessert portion 😄

This is exactly how I approached IF from the very beginning. I’ve never understood “dirty” fast. Never made any sense. If u eat a calorie, it’s not a fast. Water, coffee tea. Period. Then eat clean in the feast window. Additionally, I’d never have the discipline to eat just a tiny bit. When I eat, I’m all in. When I fast I’m all fast.

I have enjoyed your videos on intermittent fasting and the OMAD. Thank you for doing them! I started intermittent fasting in June 2020. I lost 20 pounds in the first few months doing it 16/8. I have kept all the weight off but couldn't lose the 10-15 more pounds I wanted to lose. I was including cream in my coffee and drinking tea with lemon. I found your channel a week ago and for the first time heard about OMAD...and about things like including the cream and lemon during fasting hours...and how that could affect the fast. So I have started doing black coffee and no lemon in my waters. It is helping and I am losing weight slowly which is perfect. Also doing the OMAD/shortening my eating window seems to help me too. I'm trying the 5 hour window of eating and so far it is going well. 4 hours was too hard. 6 hours I eat too much... 5 hours seems just right for now. Thank you again for sharing your information and intermittent life with us.

Also had diarrhea after opening my eating window, and that has also mostly resolved. I have had to make adjustments to my eating window and am at a 17-7 now - hoping to eventually take it to a 20-4. I am going slowly but am committed to making this a lifestyle. Your encouragement really helps.

What do you normally break your fast with? If I eat something fatty, I used to end up right into the bathroom. I break my fast with a pea protein shake made with almond milk and then wait about 30 min to have my meal and Ive been fine. Good luck!

@@mari3826 At first it really didn't matter what I broke my fast with- same result. I have been opening with pb and crackers lately and doing well with that. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for explaining this so clearly. I am in my second week and I was struggling with telling myself no after my eating window. When I ate, I would be counting when I could eat again. This annoyed me because I didn’t want to eat so late in the afternoon. Now I am going to say no and enjoy eating the next morning. When I kept that time I felt my best.

Love intermittent fasting. My fasting window is sacred. I dare not desecrate that window by eating food. A time to fast and then a time to feast. I love it.

The beauty of fasting is that you do not have to do anything. One massive problem I have found with following a diet is that you have to count calories, or measure, or deny yourself this that or the other. You have to think about eating, and when you are done eating you then think about what you are going to do for your next meal. IN other words you have to obsess about food, which is the last thing you want when you want to eat less. Having one meal a day makes eating a once a day occasion where I go to the larder and fridge and busk a nice meal out of REAL FOOD. Keep the carbs down and you will not feel hungry until the next day.

Very good explanation of the mentally freeing benefits of IF. It's the mental gymnastics and the obsessing over food that is exhausting!

I started intermittent fasting about two years ago. I eat at 12 noon and stop eating by 5:30-6 pm I also began keto about a year ago. My blood work was great. I’m turning sixty one soon. 👍 BUT for the last fifty days I had to stop eating any animal products and because I didn’t feel satisfied and was always hungry, I started eating carbs in large amounts. I never felt satisfied even with bigger meals, bloated like I was nine months pregnant, my arthritis became unbearable and of course, I put on weight.😫😫😫😭😭. This week I started back on my IF and keto and it’s been very hard, harder than when I started two years ago. I have no choice but keep pushing myself because I don’t like how I feel when I eat carbs now. My body lets me know immediately. When I was on a keto eating style I found it easy to water fast for two days. Now I find it hard, so I have to work on that too!🤦‍♀️

I have golden milk daily for inflammation. I just feel this is working. 10 pounds over 10 weeks even though I have hypothyroidism. I'm losing.

I love IF and started into it 3 or 4 years ago. When I started it was because I had come across Dr. Jason Fung’s books and the information really resonated with me. I started by doing 12 hour fasts and ate three meals no snacks. I eventually worked up to 16-20 hour fasts and lost 30 lbs doing that for 8 months. Then I’m not sure where I got lost exactly but I continued to fast and still do to the day but I have gained the 30 lbs plus back and just feel lost at this point. I have been watching your videos and really considering trying the OMAD in order to try and reset my body and mind. Thank you for all the videos and tips you give. 😊✌🏻

I found that cutting down on high carbs has helped immensely. I try to eat more protein, more Saturated fat but, when i started I found that I was eating too much bad fats. I am still learning but getting there. I have 2 meals a day sometimes only one.

My issue seems to be that when I am fasting I am fine. I can resist food. I can cook for others. I am fine because I know I planned to fast. But when I decide to eat after my fast, I think I am going to eat healthily but once I start eating I don't ever do keto and I eat whatever I want and since I already broke my fast today at noon I might as well have pasta for dinner because when I am fasting I can't have pasta. Today my fast was over 40 hours when it ended so I don't have trouble not eating. It is choosing the healthy options and not going overboard when I do eat.

This is sort of funny, I am an adventurous eater but I look at normal eating as a chore. IF works well for me because I don't have to worry about eating 3 healthy meals and 2 healthy snacks a day, which used to turn into not ad healthy stuff. I woke up and became an intermittent faster and felt better not making the decisions immediately. I would also like to say, I absolutely love your channel, which I've mentioned previously. I just found it funny how different my "why's" are. 🙂 100% agree with the unburden mentally.

Now when I lose weight and I know I will. It's as though it's because of what he said. I'm so hurt.. Oh and because I been having one meal and it's obviously large because it needs to be he's made me feel bad about that 😢
