The timeline and overview of how I lost 40lbs with Intermittent Fasting. By simply not eating most of the day, I was able to lose 30 lbs, then I made a short term sacrifice of KETO for 4 weeks to lose the last 10 lbs. Not only did I easily lose within 5 months, but the weight has stayed off! I've maintained or lost more for over a year, which is really incredible and something I've never done before!

Yes--it's only been 3.5 months since I started IF, but the mental gymnastics I no longer have to do to monitor my eating is a mental health benefit I wish more people talked about. I don't fast because I hate food---I actually do IF because I looooove food and now I can ENJOY it!

This is truly amazing and I must share my experience too. Since the 5th Dec '21 I've lost 32 lbs with Intermittent Fasting. I left a 2yr abusive relationship and as a 65 yo pensioner I found myself in a place of voluntary poverty lol but not complaining at all. I probably starved myself too but it's helped me achieve the weight loss I'd struggled with for +- 30 years. All I could afford was two loaves of wholegrain bread, 6 tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, a lettuce, a small piece of cheese per month. I discovered Intermittent Fasting on the day I moved into my little cottage and it saved me. And one green bean plant growing at my gate. I fasted in order to make my food last and fasted for 24 hrs every day and had a delicious fresh sandwich every evening (the same grocery list every month till the end of March.) I had my tea and coffee as per usual and 5 or 6 green beans as a treat during the day.The inches and pounds just fell away. Sometimes I fasted for 24/36 hrs and cannot see myself going back to my old way of eating. Financially things have improved but I still only cook twice a week and spread the meal over two evenings. Still OMAD but I'll occasionally have a sandwich if I need a treat. Off all my blood pressure meds including antidepressants as I'm away from the stress and anxiety. The health benefits are amazing too. Thanks for sharing your great story with us and good luck for the future!

@@allison4227 thank you so much sweetheart for your sweet comment. I am making peace with the whole thing finally; God promises us that He won't give us burdens we're unable to carry. This isn't my first round with narcs so He must have known I'd get through it and recover. Then, He allows things across our path...this builds inner strength, resilience and character and so much more...and because He has already seen ahead and prepared something far better. I'm in a state of renewal now where I'm able to process things and truly see that these folks are not well, especially re NPD. My sibling had problems from a birth complication, was spoiled & cosseted by our mom...and was abused emotionally/psychologically by our dad who was a Covert Narcissist. When this happens the child forms a pattern of defense behaviors and it's all to protect the fragile ego, deep feelings of inferiority and low self esteem. Understanding helps and compassion but the damage they do cannot be ignored. So I'm trying to get him off my mind; some days are better than others but I'm beginning to feel whole again, and happy, at peace and anxiety free. God helped me through so much and this time most amazingly. All I could do some days was to cry out for His will! My plans weren't working too well and I knew His will would be perfect. I'm so happy right now praise God for His plan. We often cause years of detours in our luves through wrong decisions & choices but that's also part of life. Imagine always being happy with no sadness or pain...would we appreciate it? No because it would have no meaning. So we need tough times & pain in order to appreciate the times of joy and happiness I guess. Try to get through this thing but it's not a life really living in fight or flight constantly. No matter how hard it may be, get away if you can. Do it in secret. And experience a rebirth that cannot be described. Truly.

I was someone who had to eat several meals a day or I'd get hungry fast. For health reasons, I started with 16 hours fasting a day, and after a few months switched it up to 20 hour fasting a day which Ive been doing for years now, and there are a few things to understand. First of all this style of fasting will take some months to adjust so you gotta be determined at first. You will still need to exercise (at least walking), and you need to eat right (you can't still binge on junk without consequences). Intermittent Fasting will make a huge difference to your life and bring you so many benefits, but its not a silver bullet. I've found over the years, since fasting, my tastes have changed. I break my fast at 5pm with a huge salad and then eat my main meal. My last mouthful nowadays is usually around 8.30pm sometimes 9.00pm. I dont crave processed food at all now and I've stopped eating meat. I still drink alcohol but only small amounts. I look a lot younger than my age, my skin is amazing (people tell me), I have tons of energy to spare and my ability to focus is way above average now.

Thank you for recommending the Fast Feast Repeat book by Gin Stephens. I listen to the audiobook version on repeat in the car especially the "What I Wish I Knew Before Starting Intermittent Fasting" chapter. Thanks to finding you, my hubby and I took the plunge 21 days ago. The first week was REALLY hard with 18/6. But today, day 21, I was going on 20 hours and actually felt like I could keep going! No RAVENOUS counting down the minutes til window open time . . . just like you and Gin Stephens said would happen. It's a miracle. And that MENTAL WEIGHT thing?! OH! So TRUE!!!! It is FUN to eat again. But because nothing is "bad" or "off limits" now, after the first two weeks of gorging abandon while trying to adjust (as Gin warned may happen), suddenly we are just NOT WANTING the junk we used to want all the time. I mean, I just went two days without a latte and if you knew me, you would know that is like epic miracle material for me, lol. And we are wanting less and less food when window time comes. Especially LESS SUGAR! OMG, like what voodoo is this? Now, I am even looking at recipes and actually cooking again because I am craving so much better quality AND all the recipes are open to us. It is mental and spiritual food freedom. My cooking creativity and fun is unleashed. Hubby and I are also down 4 lbs each, but like Gin says we are being patient and know this way may ironically take more time on the front end til real weight loss starts. We are committed and we know weight loss will commence in earnest soon, and then if like you we hit that plateau, we have all the tools Gin suggests (like doing Keto with OMAD, down days, etc) that I feel confident will tip the scales again. It's such a relief. We have also realized that before we struggled with weight, we were naturally eating this way as kids, teens and in our 20s. Then we started the sweet drinks habit, then the round-the-clock sweet drinks habit, and everything spiraled from there. It all makes so much sense now what happened to us and our bodies. Meanwhile, we are just feeling so damn GOOD every day now! Energy is up. Mood is steady. My libido has roared back, too. Wow! After the first week or so, Hubby and I agreed this is something we can do forever and ever amen. Just please get the book Fast Feast Repeat y'all and it explains EVERYTHING. We are 100% clean fasting during our fast window with nothing but pure water (not even black coffee or unsweet tea). Started with a 6-hour window from 1pm to 7pm, but like I said we are just naturally already starting to move toward a 4-hour window--without struggle. This is the magic pill we were all looking for. THANK GOD FOR IF and your channel showing us the way!!!!!!!XOXOXOXO

I just want to THANK YOU so much, Jackie. I had been reading about IF but hadn't pulled the trigger. Watched a few of your videos, got Gin's book, read it in a few hours, and went all in about two months ago. Today I'm in hour 39 of a 40 hour fast. I never would have thought in a million years it would be possible to do that without gnawing my own arm off in hunger! The freedom I feel from not planning what I'm going to eat all day, not shopping all the time, not cooking and meal planning figuring out how to use up leftovers and throwing away produce that went bad before I could use it... that's actually my favorite part! The weight loss is almost a bonus. We flew to Hawaii a few weeks ago. Had a 6 am flight, 2 hours for the first leg and almost 10 hours for the second leg. I fasted the entire time, just drinking water and black coffee. It was amazing to NOT make sure my carry on was loaded with snacks, and to just say "no thanks" to the crappy meals they offered on the plane. The fact that I've gone down two sizes isn't too shabby either! So happy I found your channel! ❤️

Started watching your videos tonight trying to get motivated! I have lost weight before and have of course gained it back. I didn’t loose it fasting but I like the idea of the freedom. Decision Fatigue is real and I think this is what I dread the most. I was IFing in January but then fell off the wagon.

It's cool to finally find someone who has the same age and height as me. And a Midwestern. 150lbs would be a dream. It was my high school weight when I was starving myself. I once got down to 140 and my vitam D was so low and I broke my arm when most would not have. What in the world is this predetermined number of 140? Why are we always chasing the number? How about focusing on what we want to stop experiencing ? Like stopping bad sleep, stopping the headaches, stopping the energy crash. Stopping the counting. It sounds like you've got a lot of sugar still crashing your system. Start with just cutting processed unnatural foods? Cut the added sugars. Get off the fructose crap. Do 16 hour fasting between dinner and the next day's lunch (skip breakfast). Go for walks. Get a space saving spin bike.. Keep it doable so that it's not a checklist of burdens. Any foods that are in packaging, white, stripped down into unnatural states you should be able to spot. Weird combinations of fat and salt/sugar. Like hotdogs versus a grass fed steak. Take the steak. Cake vs fresh fruit. Take the fruit. Bread vs. a hard boiled egg. Take the egg. Black coffee vs latte(with a syrup) take the black coffee. Or even juice vs. whole fruit. Take the whole fruit!

There are non scale victories that make the journey doable and sustainable. I am speaking from my personal experience as well!
@beeARTcanada

The scale did not move for me either for months, but the measurements kept shrinking. Very weird. Later found out that your body develops muscles as the body emits growth hormones while fasting. Muscles weigh more then fat, and burns fat as well….so you will be shrinking. Look for other markers other then the scale which is demoralizing. There are soooo many more benefits to IF. You are more then a number. Good luck. It’s a healthier way of life then dieting.

I've lost a little over 40 pounds in 6 months intermittent fasting. I absolutely love it and want to scream on the rooftop for others to try it. I had a plateau between months 3 and 4 with 25 pounds lost and then I finally gave myself a cheat day on Christmas day that thankfully totally resumed the loss to get me to where I am now. It's hard sometimes because I realize this is a complete lifestyle change. I can't just go back to what everyone else perceives as "normal". However, I finally broke down and went shopping.... I went from an XL to a M in shirt/dress size and a 16 to a 10 in pants. It's totally worth the lifestyle change and being that one person at the table not eating lunch. 😂❤🎉

Several advantages of doing OMAD is... 1. Money you'll save by not spending as much while at the supermarket 2. It's much easier to control what you eat when you only eat one meal 3. You'll eat MUCH fewer carbs during the day, and thus, have a greater chance of sustaining KETO)

I will say though that it was weird adjusting the eating habits I've had for decades...ie always eating breakfast and lunch, now, not doing so.

I honestly have never been real concerned with my weight or the way I looked untill one day I literally went from 195 to 210 what seemed like in a day. It was about a month but I had NEVER gained weight that quickly. I was mortified and I was told myself I would never be 200 pounds. I have been doing some changes but I started IF 7 days ago. I haven't stepped on the scale yet I'm going to do that a month from now but right now I don't even care, all I know is that I already feel amazing! I feel "lighter" I actually feel like I have way more energy. I'm going to start doing some daily walking to really get things going.

I did IF too. Lost almost 40 lbs. I’m working my way back up to it to lose the last 30 lbs to finally get to my goal weight. I have been transitioning. First I quit drinking(it’s been about 3 weeks now) sugar cravings finally stopped YESTERDAY! Stopped soda 3 days ago(that was actually easy)Now I have started to drink 4 bottles of water a day. 3 bottles more than I’m used to! Tomorrow I start IF again. I’m hype about it. 😁 The trick is to TRICK your body. Keep your protein high drink a disgusting amount of water and keep fiber high as well. I’m going to IF for 8 weeks and then stop for 8 weeks. I will alternate until I get to my goal and then maintain.

I’m constantly planning and preparing their meals. I want to do omad but I haven’t had success because my life revolves around food. How do you deal with temptation of food throughout the day???
