Estrangement, being cut off, can also include occasionally seeing the family member on holidays, weddings, funerals, or other occasions. When there is a cutting-off, you may see your family member, but there is an emotional distance. The emotional space can be troublesome, creating a sense of profound loss and grief.

Feeling unsafe…only reason to cut off is when you are ACTUALLY UNSAFE. It’s not okay to cut someone off bc of minor disagreements or miscommunications. If someone is slandering and maligning you to socially isolated you, that’s not safe. If someone is physically abusing you, verbally abusing you, gaslighting you to make you crazy, that is unsafe. Everything else is not an excuse for estrangement.

I don’t believe my estranger actually feels unhappy bc in pictures and posts, my estranger looks very happy and looks like all is well. :-/ My estranger should feel guilty, they misbehaved and then reversed the victim/offender order. My husband and I have also been projected upon. It is ridiculous and nothing I can change. I must move forward beyond this.
