Thank you so much!This was my dad's favorite gun and I haven't touched it since he died 35 years ago.I remember him getting it when I was about 12 years old and I'm 70 now.Your video was so informative. I went to clean the gun tonight since we have a hurricane coming and I never know who's going to show up at the door.AnywayI had it cleaned a while back by someone else and sure enough the O-ring was missing and I would not have known that without watching your video.Thank goodness I have my little Mossberg as a backup, but we'll be going to a gun shop to get that o-ring.

I have my uncle's old 1100 duck gun. He passed ab 20 yrs ago. I like to use it for sporting clays and dove hunting. I know he wouldnt want it sitting around collecting dust!! I just sent the barrel out to R&D gunsmith in California to have the barrel threaded for chokes and forcing cone lengthened. Mr. Bob did a fantastic job and quick too!!

This was my first "REAL" gun I bought when I was about 16, so over 50 years ago. It is a 16 gauge and I still love it. Your video was excellent! I always wondered about the trigger mechanism and taking it apart and glad that I never tried. You also did a great job showing the three important components and putting them together properly to make the gun eject properly.

Good instructions. I have a 3 inch mag 1100, but can use hunting 2 3/4 loads with no problems as long as they have 1 + Oz loads. Lt target loads won't cycle. However a 2 3/4 barrel on the mag action will cycle all 2 3/4 loads. The 2 3/4 barrel has two side by side gas ports.

They have never made a 3-1/2" version of the 1100. Many 3" models will cycle 2-3/4" loads down to 1-1/8 ounce field loads, but it is gun specific. All "Magnum" models will cycle fine with either 2-3/4" Magnums or 3" Magnums. The shell latch does not have to be staked in for the gun to function just fine. It is for ease of assembly. The last time I had a Shell latch come loose I just Superglued it back in place. That was about 8 or 9 years ago and now I don't remember which one it was. I will never stake another one, and I have the staking tool.

I've just inherited a 1975 Remington 1100 3" magnum. My great grandfather bagged many pheasants with this gun, then gave it to my father some time in the early 80's, who bought a 26" Hasting 3" magnum rifled deer slug barrel for it. This video was instrumental in finding out why it wouldn't cycle rounds: a bent interceptor spring. Easy enough, but can you tell me the best way to install a new spring without damaging it? Additionally, what might have caused the interceptor spring to bend? Everything looks good after stripping and cleaning. I'm looking to turn this into something like the Black Aces Tactical Vintage 18.5" model, but I'm having a hard time finding an 18.5" barrel in 3" magnum. Can you point me to a good source for parts? Do you recommend cutting down the original 30" barrel to 18.5" and adding a +2 mag extension? Forgive my ignorance; this gun is clearly marked 3" Magnum. Can it fire 2 3/4" shells?? My shoulder wants to know!
@UndertheGun5 жыл бұрын

I'm trying to fix my father's 1100 (from 1979) which kicks insanely hard and releases a massive concussive blast out the ejection port. I'm not seeing anything wrong with the gas system, although I did replace the o-ring while I had it apart. Best guess I have is that the action spring is too weak, throwing the timing of the action off and allowing the bolt to unlock before the pressure drops. I'm really not a fan of how they implemented it; I feel the action spring plays too strong a role in the timing. Either way, I've got a replacement spring on the way.
@koolaidblack76973 жыл бұрын
I know very little about 1100's specifically, but do you think it's possible that it's an incorrect barrel with too big of a gas port? It could be the gas piston and o-ring setup is perfectly normal, but that the gas port is just releasing too much gas, causing the action to open too quickly. Sounds like an interesting problem either way, tell me if you've found a solution, I'd love to hear about it.
@WardenWolf Жыл бұрын
@@koolaidblack7697 Original barrel. 1970s gun. I'll let you know if I can finish getting the thing apart. Got the stock off. That pin at the back is giving me trouble now. Going to have to put it back in a vise. I'm rather annoyed with Remington's design choices, to say the least. A lot of companies who make perfectly functional inexpensive clones have moved the recoil spring to the bottom tube directly behind the gas piston. Everything else is functionally identical (and parts may interchange), just they used a non-stupid way of doing the recoil spring.

Any suggestions on what may cause my receiver to not be locking in the rear position allowing the action to be open???? If my terminology is wrong I apologize ahead of time...

does it not lock back at all, or only when you shoot it?

Great video! I noticed when disassembling my 1100 the cup actually ended up in receiver with a portion of the spring after removing the recoil link/bar. I was able to reinstall through the back of the gun via the action tube like your video shows but wanted to make sure this happening does indicate any sort of damaged or worn part.

Not sure, I would have to have it in my hands.

That's happened to me a couple of times years ago (20+). As long as the bar doesn't fly out by itself you're fine. I don't remove that bar anymore as there is really no need to. My gun still works fine, except the forestock is cracked from the gas hammering it and it does have the steel insert fitted.

I own a 2 1/2" model that i've cycled thousands of rounds through it. I've only had it stovepipe once due to the O-Ring getting cut in two due to me being an idiot reassembling it. I need to bench strip it down sometime because it won't go into battery fully now. Do you suggests putting the trigger assembly into a dish of solvent, or give it a shower of the stuff, then oil it afterward? Or what kind of treatment do you use?

That will work, just dont over do it.

Thanks for sharing this procedure and information. It's not a right sear it's the secondary sear which all similar style semi autos have. The secondary sear prevents the gun from firing until you release the trigger otherwise you will go full auto. FYI

May have been talking about the left and right connectors.
