Sharpe handled Klatt. He exposed Klatt's lack of understanding and rush to judgement that is prevalent in most of the people who have a problem with what Kaepernick did. It is disrespectful for White people to criticize all forms of protest that Blacks engage in. They criticize when people riot and destroy things (Ferguson), but also reserve the right to criticize a peaceful protest (kneeling for the National Anthem). It is clear that these same people who criticize protests really would like Blacks to not protest at all. The only protest that will satisfy these people is no protest.

People are supposed to learn and gain a new perspective in these type of discussions. This doesn't make Joel Klatt wrong it just makes him ignorant of certain things. There is a big difference between a peaceful protest like what Colin Kaepernick did and the rioting and looting that took place in Ferguson and Baltimore. Anyone with a sane mind would criticize rioting and looting do you realize how many minority business owners were effected by that?
@mmiller76158 жыл бұрын
Zen Masta I agree. A reasonable person would criticize a violent protest, but what kind of person criticizes a peaceful protest? I never said that a violent protest was right and obviously I am aware of the fact that minority businesses were effected by the rioting. Klatt should not speak about issues in which he has limited or zero knowledge. If you are ignorant on the topic presented, you should not volunteer to speak about it on a National platform. It only adds to the problem. We have enough ignorant and counterproductive narratives out there. It was by design that Klatt was chosen by the show to speak on this issue. They wanted someone to present a contradictary opinion even if it made that person look ignorant and unprepared. Afterall, it is a debate show. They want to continue the topic because discussions on Race always attracts viewers.

I disagree completely. In my opinion, What Collin did is disrespectful to the country in my opinion. Just like Klatt said, when you kneel during the anthem, it becomes about the flag and country instead of the actual issue. Although what he did got a lot of attention, I feel like there could of been another way where he could protest without the possibility that it could be viewed as disrespectful towards the country or people like veterans who fought to make the country as good as it is. Obviously there is still a lot more work to do though. Because this has to change

You didn't care enough to have a conversation about it on your own time but yet you want to dictate on how others should start the conversation smh. Let's be honest the reason he liked "Seattle's" version is because they stood for the national anthem and included white people in it holding each others arms. The epitome of "All Lives Matter" protest. Like Shannon said give me a perfect time when to start the conversation and I'll be there. Demonstrate and "lead" on how to accurately protest against discrimination towards people of color. But most never do but want to be the voice of reason on how to "properly" do things without lending a hand.

He was suggesting that his initial reaction was shaped by the world he grew up in. His "lense". We all have one. I think he and Shannon both support Kaepernick. If you want to discuss something with your wife or girlfriend, you don't lead in with an insult. That's essentially how he viewed Kaepernick sitting for the anthem. (He was insulted and initially did not want to hear the message). It does not make you a racist because you get offended about something you view patriotically. We need change in America. No doubt!!

something has really troubled me about this conversation. I talked to an older white gentleman at lunch who asked me my opinion about the subject, to which I replied I think it's very serious life or death issue; he went on to say how he didn't think the football field was a place to make a "political view". It dawned on me that all of the white people that i hear comment on this have been commenting abouts a political point when it's about bloodshed and loss of lives to black people... I guess I'd no one is shooting ppl that look like u or your children, u have the luxury to have that view

This guy is an ignorant dude. 18 yr old kids not ready to talk about a question of this magnitude? we're not talking about 8 yr olds here. We're talking about 18 yr old men that can chose to go to war and kill, but aren't ready to talk about EQUALITY FOR ALL PEOPLE? gimme a break. Society and in particular white people and this guy just don't want to talk about the issue they just want it to blow over per usual. Enough of that. What Kap is doing is great along with any other individual that chooses to take this stand. This issue is BIGGER than football!
@leonidays8988 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. Our country thinks that at 18 we are mentally mature enough to sign our life away to "fight for our freedom" but in reality we are only in war for large corporations to make more billions. Yet our government punishes teens if they drink, smoke, etc. And and now White mainstream media even socially shames teens for choosing to start a dialogue regarding Black inequalities. I rather teens talk about theses real issues versus topics like latest fashion trends.
@Mexico0138 жыл бұрын
Your brain isn't fully developed until age 25, 18 year olds aren't really men

What about teens like Paul O'Neal and Michael Brown?......If you are old enough to be an unarmed teen that killed by a cop or by another teen for that matter, why shouldn't you be able to talk about it and voice your opinion? Aren't they the subject matter anyways? I'm just saying!!!
