The aesthetics of the first Unexplored didn't appeal to me, I still kept my eye on it, I am always pleased when a developer strays from the norm, regardless of my biases. This looks fantastic so far. EXPLORE gets me excited every time, and when it's actually a gameplay element and not just part of the marketing hype, they get my money. Exploring and loot are my favorites 🙂

Really pretty game. Mentioning Samwise makes me hope that you can gain a companion or pet (white wolf!) through the course of gameplay that bumps up your hope or increases carry weight. Of course, if they die, you take a big hit to hope (maybe a DoT effect) and any goods on the companion are either lost or you have to prioritize with what you already have.

Hey Splat! I’m following you for years and love your walkthrough videos over all the others that can be found on the Web. This particular game is a sequel of the Unexplored 1 which I think you've never checked out. The developer Ludomotion put his soul in it and it's been acclaimed by the true rogue like funs but never had larger attention it merits, because of the graphics which are nice but quite simpler than in the Unexplored 2. Might be worth you checking it out one day 😉

As an older gamer its hard for me to get into RPGs that don't save. I probably would have liked this if I didn't have kids, and work, and a hobby. But the permadeath sending you back to square 1 and redoing content makes it a big meh for me. I'd like the option that enables you to turn that feature off instead of hardcore mode always on.

@OZAN2203 жыл бұрын
Look I know Epic exclusivity is annoying, but I think you should consider it. Steam's monopoly hurts the indie market, as steam takes a huge 30% cut without much to show for it. People pay horrendous amounts of money just to get access to a glorified website. Not attacking you, but just pointing out something as monopolies hurt any market. I also understand that Epic's store and UI is not the best but at least they are competition.

Worth pointing out that as much as there's reason to dislike Epic, Steam is even worse. At least Epic hasn't spent almost 2 years knowing their launcher is causing demonstrable harm to customers. Valve was made aware in 2019 that an update to the Steam client was causing problems for some users with migraines and epilepsy. Since then it's also been found to affect people with vertigo and a few other problems at times. Since that issue was first confirmed to be a problem, the only meaningful change Valve has made which affects the situation was to block access to the only safe workaround which existed for the problem. I'm not saying you should support Epic, but if you're choosing between that and Steam, Epic is BY FAR the lesser of the two evils.
@NZjukesNZ3 жыл бұрын
Also, Epic takes a much smaller cut from sales compared to Steam. So if you know...you actually care about supporting Indie devs then you are better off buying on Epic as they will see much more of your money. I never understood the "exclusive argument" Steam has had a near-monopoly for like a decade and "exclusivity" on hundreds of games.
@cleanliving16123 жыл бұрын
Seems like they took the tight, narrow design focus of Unexplored 1 and just kind of threw it away. I loved the map gen and simple graphics in the first game, and I don't like the direction they've gone with this one at all

The current meta for videogames is IMMERSION, and I feel many developers are just not implementing it into their games. You dont need a photorealistic game for immersion, you need immersion MECHANICS. Drop the dialogue boxes, those look awful and pull you out completely from the game. Instead, figure out a way to make the characters display a dialogue box and make you interact directly on gamescreen with it, not via exterior menus and buttons. This game looks really cool but all those dialogue boxes that pull you constantly from ingame are so sad. They substract so much for me. WE need IMMERSION, a way to feel completely engaged with the game, to make you feel youre in real control of whats happening, its a shift in conscience, not technology. Developers, please.
@chillaxboi21093 жыл бұрын
For you. That says it all. Reading was always an immersive experience for me so I gladly welcome pieces of text.
@positronikiss3 жыл бұрын
@@chillaxboi2109 yes you might be right it can be a matter of taste but reading is usually a sign of budget rather than creative decisions.
@chillaxboi21093 жыл бұрын
@@positronikiss That might be true. If budget is not there, though, why commit to partial voice acting. I personally hate partial voice acting, to me either it is fully voice acted or I rather just read. As someone that aspires to form part of the whole development process, I obviously agree there can be immersion disrupting moments and things that just feel out of place. But there's got to be a level of understanding from the audience that, with limitations, there comes work arounds. Those might not be the best to carry out a specific task but that's all that can be done for the time being. I don't belong to this studio, team or whatever. But I still take your view as valid criticism. I'll keep it in my backlog of "certain people like". Thank you for the convo
