They do the same they just don’t show it on camera, when you have that many children you have to put those systems in place so mom can do the housework, cooking cleaning etc that is not able to be done by the kids and dad can work to support the family.

The Bates' mom is an educated woman who believes in education and exploring your options for boys and girls. It seems like the Duggar kids are only educated because it's the law. The girl's aren't encouraged to branch out but to only get married and have babies. Jim Bob would marry them off at 12 if he could. The Bates' dad get sick every time the girls mention a boyfriend.

The girls are indoors teaching/doing homemaking classes, but the boys get to “repel and do cool things that guys like to do”. Uh, girls like climbing and repelling , too, and it’s ok for them to. I started learning rock climbing at 51 (5 years ago) and it is AMAZING. Being a Christian woman does not mean not staying indoors doing homemaking things. We raised 3 daughters who all love being active in the outdoors. Gothard, IBLP, and ATI are a CULT.

I wish I could have grown up in a family like the Bates or the Duggars! My brother and sister always fought with me and we never got along growing up. Sibling rivalry! This conference looks so fun and I would have loved being in the alert boys when I was a kid!

You'd want to be in a family where your older brother SAs and victimizes you and your parents do NOTHING about it? Your parents are more concerned about covering it up and making sure their predatory son's reputation isn't harmed and that he's still viewed as special and as a real catch among the cult? You want to live in a family where it's your job to diaper, feed, dress, educate, discipline, comfort, cuddle, etc., the endless babies your mom pops out every other year? A family where you can never be anything but sweet and happy. Any curiosity or independence is beat out of you. A family where you're denied a real education and instead by the time your about 13 you're tasked with teaching your younger siblings the wacky curriculum your parents taught (think the Earth is 6,000 years old, nothing but basic math, humans ran around with dinosaurs). I could go on but please don't look at the Duggars or Bates as a fun wholesome family. The Dugars are worse but both families are awful. Look into it.

I know…I’m an only child and an only grandchild. My Mom was an only child and my Dad was the baby. I was born to be mental…lol!! When my Grandma died her obituary had an error that her sister in law showed my Mom. It said “survived by 1 daughter (with my Mothers name and info) and 19 grandchildren”. My Mom just said, “ well, she probably felt like she had 19..”. LOL!

you are romanticising an idea thats fake. there is a lot of sibling rivalry withing both of these families. it's very plain to see on their social media. the kids also have come forward woth experiences where they fought for years with their siblings. jessa and Jana from the duggars are a major one.

Great family. People who enjoy them should show respect by not putting down their friends, the Duggars. Being Christian, or of religious faith, doesn't mean we are without fault. In fact Christians admit we have fault. Not everyone wants to air their dirty laundry and most parent on this earth will go above and beyond to protect their children. This Bates family seems more relatable and down to earth then the Duggars . The children seem to contribute help freely and dad is involved more. Plus they make mistakes, they run late and show how exhausted they are. Duggars always seem robotic. I always felt we were seeing an image rather then a family and both of the Duggars had a smug superior attitude. ( keeping the kids away from our evil outside world) Problem was, evil existed in the home. Knowing what we do now, that the girls were afraid to tell their parents of being abused by their brother, maybe she should have spent more time with the children then having more A child needs one on one past being weened, and a sibling does not have the means to provide it. Plus the child did not choose to raise a child (Buddy my butt, they are unpaid babysitters) I think children are a gift and its a very personal choice of creating a family. Just think you should be able to provide for them emotionally.
