Lt. Col. the majority of us young marines, especially us infantry guys, have been yelling about this for YEARS. I did 5 years in the infantry and chose to get out because of how absent the leadership was. They truly showed how dispensable we were. I even had a 1stsgt (now Sgtmaj) tell my marines and myself that he hopes we step on an IED and fucking die. That’s when I knew I was getting out. I’ll serve in another branch. Can’t take the marine out of me.

I was a 2/1 Golf Company Marine from 2013-2015. Seeing my younger brothers blown up like that broke something deep inside me. You can be damn sure I cried, but I also reached a breaking point with this system. We’ve reached the point where a line in the sand must be drawn, and we must stand up and say no more. No more of my brothers will be sent to die as political pawns for a lame duck Congress and weak administration. No more of my rights will be surrendered in the name of a false sense of security.
