Wow, that's beautiful! Awesome that it will take any sbf intake, makes life a lot easier (I'm an EFI guy). My opening bid for horsepower is in the 450-500 range, and should get up to about 700 with port work and tuning (or revving the hell out of it). As huge as those ports are, they're begging for forced induction. Kinda surprised that you're only running one spark plug per cylinder. I know it's only a small block bore, but a hemi head has a long way for the flame front to travel.
@UnityMotorSportsGarage4 жыл бұрын
Scott thanks for Watching, these heads are unlike the "True" Hemi chambers of years ago... These have a very shallow chamber and is closer to a Cleveland closed chamber style... I don't think you would see any benefit from a dual plug setup on this head. With the combination that I'm putting together.. it should make peak power at 7000-7200 rpm with a 7500 rpm limit.. I hope you enjoyed it and please subscribe and help us spread the word about the channel... Andy
@ScottKenny19784 жыл бұрын
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage ok, so hemi valve position but not the monster chamber size. Makes more sense now. I bid 700hp if you're going to rev to 7k, but with sucky low-end torque.

Very impressive set of heads but there's a lot that goes into being able to use those and I bet it's expensive! I can see them outflowing most everything else on the market but it's an exotic setup for huge power Numbers. 1000 plus I wouldn't think they would work well at your power level. Just my opinion.
@UnityMotorSportsGarage4 жыл бұрын
These heads in my opinion has two completely different markets.. One being the Street Rod crowd who want the look of a BOSS 429 but in a much smaller package ( total width is 27.5" ) and 2 being the person who is looking to build a max effort race build... I'm going to cover cost in the upcoming video. The Spirit of this build is to give CASPER a unique "what if" engine combo... Thanks for Watching! Andy

I'm very interested. How much wider is an engine equipped with these heads over a small block 427? I was trying to keep from modifying the shock towers on a 64 Fairlane as much as possible, Think it would be a unique engine combination for a Thunderbolt replica. Are headers available or at least the header flanges?
@UnityMotorSportsGarage3 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not..it isn't much different than say a Cleveland head would be on a 9.5 deck.. most of the extra width is towards the intake side which is why it has a valley plate under the intake to seal the valley...Overall width of 9.5 deck engine is 27.5", 8.2 deck is 26" The header Flange is a Yates C3 style... Hope this helps Andy

Hi Andy I really enjoyed your latest video , and wow for me thats a few birthdays at once , well done , what an awsome investment . I like the nice straight shot at the valve and the valve placement's in the chamber is good , it should produce a nice swirl , nice tall ports , what a luvly well thought out head design ..... Well done Greg and team 👍👍 . May I be so bold as to ask the valve angles , are you zero decking the block , and what head gaskets / quench ? And lastly did Greg spintron the rockers and what sort of spring pressures are they good for ? Sorry fot being abit nosey mate but I may change up my s/w plans I like different and those heads are my type of different . Cheers Andy , and have a fantastic day .... P s and night , I would be taking those heads home to sleep with , you know just for a cuddle 😉 Pss even if I had to do a night on the couch 👍👍😁😘😎

David, I agree they look too good to install on an engine... I could just snuggle up with them. the plan is to mock up the Shortblock and take deck measurements and then have the decks brought to zero.. David and I have talked also about bringing the piston .005" out of the hole as well for quench.. on the gaskets we will have to see what we need before we settle on that issue... Greg said Jesel went through great lengths to sort out the valvetrain dynamics and even with the long exhaust rocker they have proven reliable to 9000+ rpm and I believe that EFI University on project Spinal Tap 2.0 (the ultimate LS engine) which will be wearing these heads as well... Have taken the valvetrain past 10000 rpm.. Greg Brown is the most humble guy on the Facebook of the planet and I can't wait to hear Project MIXED-UP BOSS come alive on the Dyno... Andy

I'd say 750 should be very obtainable with heads that big. How do they compare in price to the d3's? The only set of small block Ford hemi heads I've seen, are 5k for the setup. I guess you'd have more in the d3's, after you pay someone to machine the combustion chambers on them.
@UnityMotorSportsGarage4 жыл бұрын
Josh we are going to get into that in the next video... The D3 head upfront looks like a good deal... But there are some things that cost you in the long run... First is the intake.. you have to run a dedicated intake that just fits those heads unless you have a custom Sheetmetal deal made... Andy

Just like the Cleveland/ Yates D3 heads are outlawed in Woo. There are millions of sb Chevys dominating racing, they will never let the sb Ford beat them. When the Yates Fords dominated NASCAR they put restrictor places on them to cut their power to Chevy levels. It makes zero sense to put these on an engine just for shows like the Boss 429 is relegated to. When Glidden was kicking everybody ass NHRA found a way to handicap him.

They use a 5/8's plug... For NA applications I would start with a Autolite 3924 plug if you are around 11 to 1 compression or less
