What pentatonic altered scale is this called? it should have a name of the altered pentatonic scale

I don't think it has an "official" name, but yes I call it the Altered Pentatonic scale.

Yes, I didn't really go into the theory of the scale. I was just targeting the subject from a players perspective. The Altered Chord is a Dominant Chord with an altered 5th (so either a b5 or #5) and an altered 9th (so either a b9 or #9). The Altered Scale is the scale you get if you combine all of the notes above and arrange them in a scale, so 1 3 b7 (from the Dominant 7th root chord) plus b5, #5, b9 and #9. b9 and #9 are another way of writing b2 and #2. so all the notes of the scale are.... 1 b2 #2 3 b5 #5 b7. It's equivalent to the Melodic Minor mode based on the 7th degree of the scale. The "Altered Pentatonic" is made of the 5 notes 1 #2 3 #5 b7. (or the 7#5#9 chord).

@@SteveGilson The Altered Pentatonic starts on the M3? its a half step down from the root note of minor pentatonic box#1. The Altered Pentatonic formula 1-#2-3-#5-b7 is really 1-b3-3-b6-b7?

@@SteveGilson Hendrix and SRV would use the altered chord Dominant7#9 which is 1-3-b7-#9 so the Pentatonic Altered scale to be used is what? 1-b3-3-4-5-b7 which is a hexapentatonic scale
