Thank you! great video, worked for me and my GoPro MAx.... although, it is kind of unstable and the lag is horrible, even no that OBS can use 0 as buffer... it is still about 1 second at least and when I return to a seen, I found out it is better to restart (inside OBS and automatically in a setting) the camera, because if not, the lag grows and grows (I've had 20 seconds lag) . . . . . . it is easy, in OBS you just toggle "Close file when inactive" ....
@ChrisSpiegl3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is very true… it sadly is a very laggy and kind of unstable feature. I hope a future version of the MAX will include 360 streaming and easier webcam use 🌸.

First video I've found after days and hours trying to get my Gopro8 synched with my Streaming Video Provider (RTMP). I made it further than I have in days, but still can't get the live feed. So there may be some setting issues between the RTMP/OB Studio that I may need to change. Not sure, but this is progress at least. Thank you.
@ChrisSpiegl3 жыл бұрын
I am glad to hear that my video helped you in some way. A few thoughts that are very important to note: With RTMP it's really important you have the correct (and same) URLs in both environments (on the GoPro as well as in OBS). Additionally, with the GoPro as you may have found in my video… it's important to have the battery in the camera, otherwise there are issues with the WiFi not working as expected. Good luck and I hope you will find the right setup for yourself.

Man I swear Gopro has the jankiest software. First of all it's absurd that the higher priced Max doesn't have the same webcam capabilities as the Heros - no hdmi output, no usb-c video output. Second of all that whole mess about needing to have the battery in to find a wifi signal, and being unable to live stream while connected to the charger, just what the hell. I've had 3 Gopro cameras and they always have nonsense to deal with like this.
@ChrisSpiegl3 жыл бұрын
I agree. They seem to just focus on “the next camera” and all the old stuff is just “yea throw it out”. So much potential in making this tiny camera even more accessible and powerful. But not at the moment. 😕

@ChrisSpiegl3 жыл бұрын
Sadly no, the GoPro Max does not provide any 360 live streaming capabilities. This is something GoPro would have to built into the feature set and they have not done this yet. People in the GoPro forum are saying that its probably not coming and may only be part of the next 360 GoPro camera.

Hi Chris, thanks for all of this advice. I am having an issue with drift over time on the GoPro going through the rtmp server. I followed your instructions in your video on how to sync all audio and video sources and got them all synced but over time, the GoPro drifts further and further back. It's quite noticeable after 20-30 minutes. Do you know of any solution for this?
@ChrisSpiegl3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't really have a solution for that. The longer this video has been live the more I am thinking that it's really not worth to go through all the trouble with the GoPro Max, and if you have any chance of using or getting a different camera (even a phone) then I would use that. The RTMP solution is just too much work 🙈. The only "solution" I can think about is resetting the connection between the RTMP server and the GoPro Max and with that also reset the offset. But that's probably not what you want to be doing every 30 min in a stream. Hope you can find a solid solution and happy streaming.
@kevincorcoran30963 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisSpiegl I was afraid you would say this!! It's such a shame because it's such a good camera and you would think they would just make it compatible with OBS. I found some people saying that if you route the rtmp server through VLC and then use a VLC source in OBS it is more stable but I haven't found that yet, it's been quite jumpy. Ah well.

@ChrisSpiegl3 жыл бұрын
I don’t use Windows so everything I write is speculation. But basically you’ll need. Local RTMP server that the max can stream to and then you can take that stream and use it inside obs as described in this video. It’s not easy - more ideal. But it should work. Honestly, I would rather use a phone as your webcam. That works better in most cases.

It would work with this work around, but I would absolutely NOT recommend it. It has a severe delay and is thus basically useless.
