The car literally refused to rotate upon every single corner and understeered horribly. The weight wasn't half of the problem. Most of that I'd blame on the lack of proper torque-vectoring and the car not having a much heavier torque split towards the rear wheels.

For electric cars second lap on nurburgring is already a challenge, might run out of electricity. But yes 2 laps is completely normal on eletric, they use battery much faster than petrol cars use fuel, average fuel tank should last 4 laps+ and it's only few minutes to put petrol back. A Cadillac with Swedish plates isn't that shocking, for some reason US cars are really popular in Sweden and Norway, I've owned a couple myself here in Norway, a '80 Buick wagon, a '76 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, and a '78 Mustang II... which I got when I was maybe 19 or 20, knowing nothing about them, or how unpopular they can be, thus harder to get parts for, thankfully... in a way, it had a V6, meaning it was the Ford 2.8 V6 from Cologne, so what you'd find in a Granada, thus plenty of parts about back then. :P

Should provide for range numbers that outclasses a lot of gasoline-powered cars on the Nurburgring, it's crazy how much energy you can recover from braking that is otherwise lost.

I think the regen adds to the heat. The higher the regen, the higher the thermal load placed on the cooling system.
@lumntoob999
@lumntoob999 Жыл бұрын
I think the regen adjustment is only for when off throttle but not on brakes, if you had the regen on a low setting but then started to apply the brakes it would use more regen until you pushed the brakes hard enough and it would then start working the mechanical brakes. I would think the only way to gain more energy back would be to not brake as late and hard so you had a longer regen area but that would cost laptime.
@AIRDRAC
@AIRDRAC Жыл бұрын
@@billcar50 This exactly - While using as much regen as possible would, in an ideal situation, extend the range dramatically, while making sure your brakes last longer, in reality it adds even more thermal load on the electrical power system, and usually the battery will get too warm even when not using regen at all on the Nürburgring, so it's better (for the laptime) to minimize regen, and use the brakes more :) On lower powered cars high regen can help, I know that the ~300 HP Hyundai/Kias benefit greatly from it on track, but then again they don't exactly handle like sports cars.

@@danieldagenais7945 here in the Uk / Europe the standard Plaid (when it gets here) costs near enough that it makes no difference the same as the RS etron GT. When you add the £16k track pack its the same price as a Vorsprung RS GT so your pricing argument only holds water seemingly in the US if indeed it is correct. Plus the Plaid track pack comes with Cup 2's and as the name suggests is adapted for a track? I would hope with 400+hp more and track biased tyres it would be better! And let's not get started on range given the pending lawsuit in the US against Tesla misrepresenting it's range in its cars akin to dieselgate! There are currently RS GT's with more track focused tyres, ceramic brakes and tuned to in the region of 850 bhp (so less power) which are running below the Plaid track pack's 'claimed' Nordschleife lap time. In any event, a near 8 minute lap time in this video, 2 up, with street tyres and brakes plus traffic is nothing to be sniffed at.

I m confused about the tyres... they took 20kms of 2.5 tons car preassure to hardly get up to 60ish ⁰C ..? I dont own or track use a car, but my liter bikes tyres get up to 60-70 in like 3 laps on a track of 3.2kms. Why they warm up so slow ?

Misha have you ever had a cts-v on the ring? I remember it had impressive times there when they launched. I'd like to see your impressions of it if ever the opportunity arrives!

Wonder how well it would do with some actual track-focused tires.

The squealing was 10 times more noticeable as there was no engine noise.

Would the circuit allow you to put a red flashing light on the roof? It would give the other drivers a warning to get out of the f***king way.
