In other words, the dialysis machine is not cleaning their blood, it is not correcting electrolytes, it is only removing excess fluid from your dialysis patient.
UF ONLY = ULTRAFILTRATION ONLY = FLUID REMOVAL ONLY
Why would someone need UF only? Why wouldn't we always clean their blood and correct electrolytes?
UF ONLY :
1: Generally for extra dialysis treatments for patients retaining excess fluids, especially if they are having symptoms of fluid overload
2. Cleaning the blood and correcting electrolytes can be exhausting on the dialysis patient. UF ONLY dialysis treatments generally cause less symptoms of fatigue post dialysis
2. Only removing fluid from the patient is less work on the dialysis patient's body. This means they will also tolerate fluid removal better. You will likely be able to remove more fluid during UF Only treatments than Regular Dialysis Treatments.

@dialysisnurselindsey the video is very informative and I have learned new things about the machine I didn't know, but how do we put the machine in sequential for when a patient is coming in for a extra 2 HR tx SEQ only. There is only two machines at my clinic that can go into sequential and I don't know if we are just doing it wrong. We barely got b braun machines 2 years ago. Still learning on them and we don't have a biomed right now lol it used to be profile 10 and push seq but at some point the machines were updated and we can't figure it out.

I’ve been having a Problem this week my machine keep beeping when I’m Sitting down and we figured it out that when I’m Laying down it’s ok but I can’t move.
