Hi, I'm not sure if I missed something here, but the shadow location (light position) does not really changed even after I do CTRL+L (moving the sun) & "BUILD", still the same output from the earlier setup is showing. By the way, the tutorials are great.

yes this is somehow a bug or a weird error , if u adjust the values on the panel options of the sun and sky that you will find on the right side , after you build it will give you the correct shadow and light timing that you have determined in the values

Another great tutorial! I have two things that aren't working quite the same way as in the video. 1) When I disable Auto Exposure, my scene is very dark. 2) After building lighting, it seems like it works, but your video shows really nice bounced lighting, for example, on the underside of canopies or the ceilings over the porches. Mine are solid black. Any help appreciated!

Thanks , after disabling auto exposure go to the exposure in the lit panel in your 3d viewport next to the show menu and disable exposure and adjust it based on your scene this will help bring your scene more brighter , if that dosnt solve the dark areas under the canopy just try to increase the light bounces in the lightmass setting menu and build your light again , hope that help

Hi! I was trying to find some tutorials, and this one is the best one! Congrats! When I import the datasmith all StaticMeshes comes in one layer. How can I import and have all the hierarchy layers as I had into 3dsmax? I see in your video before It happened too, and now you have three layers. Can you help me? I believe it is the same question that Wad has.

Dynamic light is your choice as long as you dont care about the FPS and you gonna present on your machine , but if you gonna pass the final packaged product to your client you might find it useful to use stationary light to give you faster fps

@@StudioNicomedia to check this volume scale on a faster way just choose the volume from the right side panel and press F to zoom extent and lock the scale axis and go to the top view in wire frame to increase it easily , hope this help

@@cristianmartinez1321 on another hand try to activate the Atmosphere Sun Light you will find it in the directional light setting panel just enable it and try pressing Ctrl + L it will move the sun with your mouse , seems like if this option is disabled the sun will not move , thanks

yep its not a graphic problem these 2 will give you enough power and memory , so its diffidently an issue in the level or the file , how bad is it to test if you can create a new project and do the same thing with a new engine project .

1 - remove the sun sky BP including sun light 2 - add a directional light and a sky atmosphere 3 - in the directional light panel activate atmosphere sun light 4- now check with CTRL + L the sun should move along with the time of day

Hi there , thanks for sharing your Q , getting this error could be due to many things but the best thing i would suggest to reimport your datasmith files and save as a anew level with no unreal utilities such sun sky .. etc , and check if the same problem still happening , otherwise if your still in the early stage of your project then its better verify the engine for epicluncher and create a new file and emigrate your project file to the new scene , hope that will help

maps need lighting rebuilt, i am stuck at this from hours, and building lighting is also stuck at 0% at preview quality. i cant a solution to it, this happens when i increase lightmap resolution of components to green color.

can you please try the following , 1- make sure that the sun and sky light component ( directional light and sky light ) is set to static or stationary mobility 2 - add light importance volume around the project so the light build will only include whats inside the volume 3 - open the swarm agent that you will find in the task bar beside the clock ( in yellow color ) and clear the cache from the main menu 4- if the previous steps didn't help can you please create a new project and start a clean level and import the project and setup the light again and build the scene without changing the light map , please let us know if this didn't help , thanks

@@theimageneers5161 yup it did solve the problem of light, the remaining problem that i was having regarding baking time, you pretty much explained EVERYTHING in next video, however i switched to ray trace for now, its faster this way, ill do the final GPU baking at the end, i think that might give better quality than ray tracing, correct me if i am wrong. What to do if lightmap UV's are overlapping for some objects?

This happen most of the time with heavily detailed objects such as furniture objects in this case you have to step in with your modeling software and try to minimize the number of polygons or maybe by separating some of the elements to help datasmith avoid overlapping lightmaps

@@theimageneers5161 Also when I try to add my foliage into the scene I get this message as out of memory and the editor quits abruptly. I'm using 4K textures and lod 0 meshes from Megascans. My specs are 8Gigs of Ram, I5 processor and a Gtx 1650 GPU with 4Gigs of Vram.

@@mvrckdzn out of memory message is always a sign that a redistribution of your memory over your scene is a must , what we mean is consider using 2k texture and check to see if its acceptable cause this will release some of the memory for example for other objects

hi , so overlapped polygons are always an issue inside the modeling software you are using and the best way to solve this is to either weld the vertices if they are 2 walls meeting at the corner or remove the extra face if its a double face on top of each other .

to change the position of the skylight make sure that you press on Ctrl+L and the same time move your mouse without clicking anything else, for the light intensity make sure you choose the Directional light on details panel list of the sunsky and adjust the intensity accordingly .please let us know if you still facing any problems
