Hi such great tutorials. I really need some help. I cannot get skylight HDRI to bake shadows, I’ve used your test scene mentioned in the above comments but the only way that my skylight will bake shadows is when Rtx is turned on. Yet your tutorial is not using rtx. I’m using HDRI backdrop set to stationary as per your scene. Really appreciate some help

Hi Rich , The GPU Light bake tutorial is basically an HDRI assigned to the cube map ( Sky Light ) to spread the light by its colors and get the shadows , in your case it seems that something is not working as it should be if you have followed every step of this tutorial and your still facing the same problem please share your skylight setup and send it tour email Imaginalitystudio@gmail.com

My results are the same as @Nikola Merazzi - When I build the light map, the following happens: www.dropbox.com/sh/7lfnbp6vw7iaxvk/AAC7Fs86qaAUDuLdkRr6oX-Aa?dl=0 I am not really sure what is going on. I opened your file, and hit the build button, that is it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled UE4 and I am only using my CPU as the light build calculator. I have also ran this test in UE 4.25.3 and received the same results. At this point I may just never use HDRI in unreal, or not use unreal all together. Thank you for your help.

Is there any way to config how much GPU memory gives to GPU lightmass? I can see that mine is using only about 60% of the "Dedicated GPU Memory"
@theimageneers51614 жыл бұрын
If you check your PC performance from the taskbar you will find that it consume more from your RAM , as far as the GPU alter memory consumption i guess we will check with Luoshuang to see if he have any solution for that

Thanks for sharing , can you please try to remove all the light and build again to make sure you will get a dark scene without any light then start again to build by adding the HDRI only , if your still facing the problem please let us know , thanks

Is it still relevant now that we have raytracing
@theimageneers51614 жыл бұрын
Thats a good question , thats why you will also find more clear explanation on our Raytrace optimization tutorial where we used the light baked by gpu to compensate the Global illumination and increase the fps kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5bKmHiKf79jgKs

althoug the quality is awesome. what is the sample that i should use when i want to baket it for the final render?
@theimageneers51614 жыл бұрын
@@VitorCaldeira1980 Thanks for sharing your feedback , GPU is awesome on its soft shadow result you are right , to look for the best result for your final render this will depend on your scene if its simple and less detailed you can increase the sample count but if its a complicated scene i guess you gonna have to find an acceptable number to meet the accepted quality at an acceptable time
