That's why he can see their friends through birds, the same as Ymir. So he is stuck in it. And well, you know Mikasa said to him "See you later, Eren", so they will eventually meet again.

Actually "itterasshai" is what you say to someone when they leave the house, the implication being they're going to come back home. It literally means "go and come back" in command form, so it's a form of promise from the person who remains behind saying "you WILL come back to me". Fits really well with the "let's go home" line as well.

I don't get how people can watch this episode without literally breaking down, my reaction was the same as yours I even had to stop the entire thing throughout the episode multiple times to calm down, and when the end came I was literally screaming and crying like a little kid, I left a sub and a like amazing content!

This is pretty much canon in my mind. If you connect the Akuma No Ko ending where Eren is alone in the field of flowers as a kid Mikasa wakes up in pretty much the same place in the afterlife. "Hell" for Eren was having freedom but being alone in that place surrounded by ruin until his grown up version disappears back to happy child Eren when Mikasa finally is able to join him
