Unused ABC Strats #2

I show several more unused ABC strats. This is the sequel to my first video on unused ABC strats ( • Unused ABC Strats ).
One of the cool things about the A button challenge is that it necessitates doing things in creative and unintuitive ways in order to counteract the A press restriction. Consequently, ABC videos often showcase interesting strats that would never have been used in a normal speedrun. However, this paradigm isn't perfect, as some strats happened to have no practical use for an ABC run, and so they'd never have an opportunity to be shown. Thus, this video is meant to fix that by showcasing exactly those strats.

Works across quicksand too, but you're only safe for that first bounce.

bernardo013 its because the slide kick animation has priority over the lava bounce animation

@@bernardo013 the lava has no hitbox, lava, quicksand, etc. are floor triangles' attributes.

All of Marios body redirects temperature changes to his butt, except for when he bounces on it, which it spreads it out to most of his body, nullifying damage.

I love that you guys know that Mario can make it on top of the flame shooters 0x. there's no practical reason to even want to think about doing that (except maybe looking for RR tech). You either don't know a lot of math or you're underestimating the comparative scope of the field. I don't remember seeing anything past algebra on this channel, so you should know more about math than SM64 if you've taken math through Math 2, at least in absolute terms. Then again, knowing the state of US math education these days, that might not be enough for that...

You can only actived the stored upwards momentum if you can get airborn for 1 frame (by falling off an edge mostly)

So how does the lava/slide kick interaction work then? Is it because the start of the kick registers mario's position as on a stand-able floor and doesn't update until after the first bounce meaning the game treats that first bounce as being off a normal floor? Would this be abusable to make a "Floor" somewhere where there usually isn't a floor, like against a ceiling or something? Because I had to just pause and boot up the emulator to test this out as it never occurred to me in my many years playing this game that going into the lava would not result in immediate ouchies....
