It's true. One time I edited my save file to give myself a Flareon as a starter for an Eeveelution run I was doing in Platinum. Rowan actually commented on how I had an evolved pokemon and even acknowledged its species. It's probably the same in the other DS games. I think I saw something similar when I replaced a starter in Pokemon White, but don't quote me on that since I haven't played that one in at least seven years.

Sadly the 3 legendary cats are bugged in fire red and leaf green. They always have the same amount of IV's, which is ridiculously low making almost every ordinary pokemon better in terms of stats and movepool. Also i believe their nature is set when you pick your starter. I have had them always have the same nature as my starter even. Deoxys was avaiable where i live, but it wasn't worth the hassle, you had to send your cartridge, it would be reset and a new file would be made with the ticket. Yeah, not gonna remove all my data just for that plus it cost you money. If something went wrong, well you would be send a big fuck you in your direction.

European versions of Emerald (I can confirm at least the Spanish one to work) can unlock Deoxys event with some very specific manipulation of the pomeg berry glitch. You can also corrupt the Seedot an NPC gives you for trade to make a Deoxys egg out of it, in fact you can complete the gen 3 pokedex with just that cartridge. You can also corrupt the corrupted egg to generate a lv100 version of the pokemon you made the Seedot Evs for, but it will be nicknamed SITOT and doesn't count for pokedex completion (though this allows the generated pokemon to hold an Ev specific item, and it can still breed if it's not a legendary so the offspring does count for pokedex).

on the topic of the unused trainer classes, I can confirm the game just crashes. I messed around with a gameshark when I was younger and messed up inputting a walk through wall cheat. It caused a bunch of interesting glitches (like not being stopped by trainers). I encountered Archie once and it spooked me because I had no idea why he'd be on the games files

I am kind of jealous, I really wanted a walk-through walls cheat in Firered, but because that cheat wasn't pre-installed on the Game Shark (I suppose that was called a Game Shark, I always called it an 'Action Replay for Game Boy Advanced games' because I was a gen 4 kid.) and installing cheats was complicated I never installed a walk through walls cheat on my Game Shark. I did have and used the walk through walls cheat in Pearl, (because that was the only game, the walk through walls cheat was installed on). But sadly that was the only game I could do that in because of that.

Shannon O'Sullivan Interesting, I got some really interesting results in FireRed when using cheats to mess with the Eggs in the Four Island Daycare. I don’t remember what cheat(s) I used, but I ended up turning both of the Pokémon in the daycare into Bad Eggs, and got two eggs that somehow hatched into (Blank)s. The (Blank)s also had some weird moves learned, both through TMs and through levelling up. I ended up teaching them things like Surf, Flamethrower, Thief, Fly, and I think Shock Wave and Solarbeam. I don’t remember which one had which moves, but I can definitely say it was a really wonky moveset. I wanted to level them up, but the game crashed/softlocked once I hit level 7 or 8.

I can explain that arrow that appeared in mt moon, along with that ledge thingy. In the engine used for the games tile properties are linked directly with a tiles appearance meaning that in order to make that arrow appear for a cave exit they had to make a clone of the cave floor tile that looked the same but had different properties, the same goes for a few other tiles in the games like there are 2 water tile one was probably meant to be used for diving until they added a separate tile for that. also there are two ways to make ''Grass'' wild pokemon appear in the game one is trough a grass tile another is by ways of assigning a script function to a tile(i think that's what it was called) this was used in caves as the ''grass'' tile properties forces an animation which makes the game use the next four tiles in memory for said animation which the grass tiles do have but cave tiles do not. And i accidentally went on a rant... sorry about that.

My guess is that whoever was mapping the area just picked those ground+arrow tiles instead of the ground tiles accidentally, simply because visually they are the same, and if they have a map editor, they'd potentially look exactly the same in the editor so there'd be no way of knowing it was the tile with the arrow.

7:11 fun fact: in pokemon special this feature of deoxys was used in pokemon special. after the conclusion of the ruby and sapphire arc which takes place before the fire red leaf green arc we see the orbs that controlled groudon and kyogre break down into smaller shards shards that giovanni himself recovers. he does this so he can bring them to kanto and use them to merge the climate of hoenn with the climate of kanto causing mass distortions in said environment but would allow the deoxys in his possession to access its full potential. he wanted deoxys so he could use its power to track down his lost son silver as well as to revive the now broken up team rocket. we do end up seeing giovanni complete this and get the spectacle of a rematch between red and giovanni where they decided to settle this on a one on one match giovanni with deoxys and red with mewtwo.

The Altering Cave is made to be used with the E-Raeder. A device that came out only in japan. It can read certain type of Pokémon Card, from the TCG, and when you scan them, the Pokémon on the card appear in the cave.

The Altering Cave event was scrapped mostly because it has a quirky implementation as the folks at Project Pokémon discovered: the Mystery Gift deliveryman on Pokémon Center 2F swaps the Pokémon that appears every time you talk to him again for as long as you keep your Wonder Card (only 1 per save in the GBA games), hence the name "Altering Cave". Also, this was probably unintentional, but if you delete the Wonder Card, the Pokémon you encounter is not reset to Zubat.

I noticed another strange glitch playing this game the other day: I had a mr. mime and i was facing lorelei's jynx. jynx was faster than me and used lovely kiss which put mr. mime to sleep. I had selected the move "substitute" but obviously didn't get to use the move since i was put to sleep before i could use it. being asleep, I then used the pokeflute in-battle which normally awakens all sleeping pokemon, but instead of awakening mr. mime and displaying the usual message "Sleeping Pokemon woke up", it just said something like "what a catchy tune!" and my mr. mime stayed asleep. Since being put to sleep while behind a substitute is impossible, I assume that the game thought it was impossible for me to be put to sleep merely by selecting substitute (even though I hadn't actually used it).

If you hack a full team before getting your starter in ruby and saphire, your starter will also be transfered to the PC but interestingly when receiving your starter from Prof. Birch the game will say that you obtained the pokemon you fought the poochyena with. I also remember that when using the walk through walls hack inside of the moving truck at the start of the game to walk through the boxes, leaving the truck caused me to actually leave the bottom left house in Petalburg City. The gen 1 remakes have the most pleasing animation of any Pokémon game in my opinion . The sprites, the overworld, just everything in general is perfect. Colors are vibrant but not too bright. They are just visually amazing

This is a phenomenal channel, you've got me completely hooked haha. I don't know if this would be at all possible, but one of my favorite childhood games was "Legend of Dragoon", and I'm not sure if you're familiar. Nevertheless, there was a massive part of the game that was cut in the American version involving a mini game allowing you to double your bag space. I don't know if you'd be interested in looking into it, but if you did I'll love you forever haha.

It would most likely result in the bug where Prof. Oak rates an unexistent pokedex (it happens when you evolve your starter before delivering the parcel from viridian city) and you'd be unable to progress with the game without hacking (to move past the old nigga blocking the way in viridian.)

I think I've guessed the reason for the tower of PCs glitch when using them from behind. The PC turns on when the player uses it, so the game has to spawn the "PC with glowing screen" sprite. It must be determining where to place the new sprite based on where the player is and what direction they're facing.

Oh I know, this was back when I was 12-13 years of age. Shortly after he stole it, I no longer spoke to him. Fun fact: The way the fossils work in this game in through flags that are set when you pick up the fossils, not by having the fossil items themselves. Try to use hacks to pick up both Helix and Dome fossils using Gamesharks, or pick up any one fossil then use a save editor to delete it, and you'll see it still lets you revive it

What's more likely with the t.v.s is that, clicking it from behind wasn't specifically programmed in. A more likely explenation is that the t.v.'s logic goes something like this: if (Player.interact == front) display message (tv). Else display "Oops, wrong side!" I mean, that's how I'd do it. It would be easier to make exceptions for one specific side, rather than make specific code for each side, with three of the four sides being identical in their message.
