Bless Vera my Dad said she really boosted the country moral during the war. He said she carried on giving concerts even though London was getting bombed nightly at one point. My Dad used to get a tear in his eye when Vera was on the TV. I imagine he was remembering what the wars were like but he never failed to sing a long. RIP Vera singing with the Angels 👼

When my mother passed in 2015 we played the song "We'll meet again" at her funeral. A wonderful song that gives comfort in difficult times. People, take good care of your mother, you only have one. I miss mine every single day.

Thanks for that! I grew up with the voice of Vera Lyn - mainly on the radio, through my Mother who joined the 'Royal Australia Army' during WWII. They were my informative years, and I was given the benefit of hearing the outstanding voices of Vera Lyne (The Forces Sweetheart) and Kate Smith (The American) as they sang their memorable songs over the years. I grew to love them too; may they Rest In Peace.🇦🇺🇬🇧🇺🇸

OMG. I just came across your channel. This narrative of Vera Lynn has touched me very deeply. Memories, memories, memories of a lifetime. Born 77 years ago, Godalming, Surrey, April 1945. Mother born Southampton 1916 and enlisted in ATS. Married my American father in 1944, 82nd Airborne. Grew up listening to Vera Lynn all of my life. Mom and dad singing all the time. Even today in 2022, I have downloaded Vera Lynn songs onto my cell phone and will listen at will. Thank you so much for sharing Dame Vera Lynn’s resting place. You have made my day. 🥰👍🏻🙏

My late Grannie used to love listening to her songs, as it brought back so many memories of when my Grandfather was in the Army. I still listen to her songs now. You can see why she was a sweetheart, she was really good looking when she was younger. I wish her, and everyone who fought in WW2 that they may rest in peace. I wonder what they would think to how Britain is now? God bless them all

What a credit this woman was not only to her profession, but to all the men and women whose hopes she kept alive during the war. Paul, when someone addresses such delicate matters as death and gravestones, they have to be respectful, compassionate and understanding of the person who is being brought back to life for such a short period of time whilst your telling some of their life story, you have the above in bucket loads and this is what attracts so many people to your channel Thank you for not just going to a cemetery and try to make a quick exit with little or no information, you take your time in telling the story and genuinely care both about your subject, and your audience.

Hi Paul,I do not live far from Ditchling, the village Vera lived in is very pretty there is a lovely garden centre there aswell.Dame Vera seemed such a lovely lady, and she did a lot for the service people to keep their spirits up during the war.The people who lived through the war, must of really been upset on Vera’s passing as she was a link to their era back then.Must of brought a lot of memories back to them.Thankyou Paul, your videos are always so respectfully done, and you always tell their story so well.Hopefully Vera is resting in peace with her beloved husband, she will never be forgotten.❤️❤️❤️❤️
